I went to Pho Saigon Noodle House last night for the first time after several months of urging from my daughter and reading the reviews on Yelp. She and Yelp were correct it was very good and I know I will be back. As soon as you sit down they place a large glass of water in front of you, I never did see if the served any other beverage. The restaurant is huge and even with it being busy on a Friday night we were served quickly and were in and out within 45 min. Besides the Pho we had the spring rolls, yummy. As a Vietnamese American I hate to not leave a glowing review especially in these tough Coronavirus times. But what used to be my go to Pho stop in college is no longer the same level. I ordered 2 regular bowls to go of Pho Tai - the price was $9.75 each (very pricey), but the portions were SO tiny. They also charge 3% for to-go orders. There was barely any meat or soup. I was pretty disappointed. I give 3 stars because the broth was very good, and I liked how their to-go packaging was. I did request extra green onions, and it was marked on the receipt but none was provided. Best Vietnamese food in town. Best pho, not too salty, rice noodle bites you back. Grilled chicken is juicy and well seasoned every time. Get the grill chicken rice plate because it has the best short grain rice. Rice moisture varies with rice grain; the shorter it is the more moist and tender it is. For example Indian Jasmine rice is long grain so it's pretty dry. Chinese rice is mid-grain, so somewhere in the middle. Vietnamese rice is short grain, has a chewy texture. I love the short grain at this place, can eat it by itself. read more

The food was good, but my friend and I were over charged after we double checked by asking them if that was correct, but she didn't even let us finish speaking cutt us off and said no this is the price. She not only charged us for a large instead of the regular, but I got the veggie pho which is cheaper then the regular meat pho's and she charged my friend and I the same price. I am not upset that she made a mistake that can happen what I am upset about is the fact that we asked her are you sure because I got the veggie one and we got the regular one, but she didn't even really listen cutt us off and just said no this is the price. Pretty much my go to Pho spot in Austin. There are a couple of better places but they charge a lot more, are in tiny locations, seem kind of dirty, or take forever. This place is very large, they keep it pretty clean, and if you order Pho you are going to get it almost as soon as you place the order. The owner/manager will remember you after you visit a couple of times and they are always nice. I tend to stick to Pho and spring rolls, but my Wife gets the vermicelli and the rice plates as well as Pho. She likes them all, especially the grilled pork. This is the best pho I have yet to have in Austin. Their Vermicelli Pork Bowl is also very delicious, with the pork being the best I have had in a vermicelli bowl anywhere. My boyfriend and I LOVE pho, so we are always trying to find good pho for a good price, and this is the best so far in many ways. Even the small pho is HUGE (he's a big guy, and he left a little uncomfortable because he ate so much and still had some left over lol. ) The first time we came here, I left thinking "Wow, that place is pretty good." The last visit, everything I had from the pho to the egg roll, the vermicelli bowl and the sweet coffee all blew me away. It's now our favorite place to get pho. Also, the prices are great! For $16 we got a sweet coffee, two waters, one soda, one small pho, one vermicelli bowl, and an egg roll. My only complaint is that once you are seated and have your food, you are lucky if you get one "how is everything?" from the staff. My coworkers and I went here this week for work. I had always wanted to try pho and I have to say that I'm a fan! There is a huge menu to choose from bit I finally settled on the pork, steak and fatty brisket pho in the smaller size as well as an order of the Vietnamese egg rolls. The egg rolls were really yummy and came with some lettuce leaves and shredded carrot that i wrapped the egg rolls in before dipping it in the dish sauce and there was nothing small about that order of pho. I ate and ate and barely made a dent in it. Can't imagine ordering a large size unless I was feeding a family. My coworkers ordered some rice dishes that looked really good too so I may have to try that next time I go there - and there will be a next time! read more

Deserves a 5 star for being opened until 9PM on Christmas! 4 stars for customer service over the phone - the lady answering the phone could not speak Vietnamese so she threw a Vietnamese speaking person on the phone to answer my question. I called back after I looked over the menu and right away the same lady threw the phone to the Vietnamese speaker to take my order (even though I was speaking in English to her). 5 star for quick service at the front when I came to pay and pick up my food. 5 stars for the taste of my grass jelly dessert and special Pho. One of the best pho places in Austin! They are always busy, which is how you know it's good. I always get their meatball pho. I always get their large size and regret it afterwards when I'm not able to finish the whole thing (but it's so so good!). Some other pho places don't give you a lot of food, but they don't skip out on anything here. Service is fast and efficient, don't expect anyone to fuss over you though. This review is for ubereats delivery: I ordered from pho Saigon during the recent snow storm because it was one of the few places available on the app. I ordered pho, shrimp and pork spring rolls, pork eggs rolls, and the vermicelli & pork with egg roll. The egg and spring rolls were delicious! I also really enjoyed the vermicelli dish, the grilled pork was flavorful and tender, and I loved having an extra egg roll because those were the star of the order. I ordered the pho with 2 types of beef, brisket and what I believe was rare flank steak. The pho was good but I felt like the broth could've been more plentiful (there were a lot of toppings, meat and noodles and it didn't feel like enough broth), as well as could've had a little more depth of flavor. Id definitely try this place again for delivery but maybe would try a different soup. Everything else in my order was superb. I'll also add that everything was really well packaged and easy to assemble upon delivery which is a plus when ordering soup. read more

Wasn't hungry enough to try the gigantic bowls of Pho But based on the number of people coming in and out, it was obvious that this is a very very well liked establishment. I started off with a pork and shrimp combo spring roll. It was served with one of the better peanut sauces i have had in a while now. I then received an amazingly fresh tasting thia tea. Portion size was small for the cost. But thats worth the freshness f it. The beef brisket pho was $7. For a small. Remind me never to get a large. Their small pho is most places large. The moment we walked in it smelt like heaven. We sat down and the waiter greeted us with a big smile. It made me and my family feel at home. They served water and the pho came so fast. I almost thought it was going to be bad. But it was the most delicious pho I've ever had. And yes I have had a lot of pho. This is my favorite. And everything in the soup is rich with flavor. The meat cooked inside the soup. It had so much flavor and when you needed chopsticks/straws it was right on your table so you wouldn't have to call a waiter. I had the number 12 regular. Used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Austin, but ever since some of the newer pho places came out, I realized the quality of pho here just isn't as good. Still, this place is extremely fast and consistent and I've spent so many rainy days here, it's almost a second home. The food comes out really really fast, even on the weekends when they're packed. I've never had to wait longer than 10-15 minutes for my food and that was when I came with a huge party of around 10 people (pho usually comes out within 5 minutes of placing your order). The food itself is really good. The pho isn't as good as Pho Please, but the portion sizes are really generous and it's still a really satisfying and relatively cheap meal, especially on a rainy day. I always get the brisket and meatballs pho because I love the meatballs but the other options are also really good. When I'm not feeling like pho I always go for the grilled pork or grilled chicken vermicelli. If you're thinking about getting a rice dish, I'd go with the vermicelli instead because you get a lot more food and I personally don't like the rice all that much (I'd describe their rice as hard -- almost crunchy -- and I personally prefer softer, steamed rice). Appetizer wise, I'd go with the spring rolls -- any of the spring roll options are pretty tasty. read more

I ordered the eye round steak pho and she had the chicken pho, both broths were flavorless. The broth was like...unseasoned beef stock....Extremely disappointing. We've eaten Pho at 6 different places in the last month or so and this one is by far the worst. It's one thing to have a disappointing meal, but I'm pretty sure we also got food poisoning. Pretty good place for a noodle soup. Go of number 26 on the menu if you really like to tasty a variety of meats. Pretty fresh and lots of sauces variety to choose from and add. I would recommend this as one of the goodpho places in Austin given that that aren't that many. My boss loves this place, so our team eats here ALL THE TIME. Vietnamese is my favorite Asian food (personal favorite: Tam Deli), but the trouble with Burger King after the third visit, or any other place after the 20th, is that you get tuned into the universal taste common to all of the dishes, you can't shake it, and it's all the same from there on out. I can still taste Whoppers in my sleep from when they were $1 in high school, and I can taste Pho Saigon now. Help me! I've had everything on the menu to slow my descent into insanity, so here are some nooks and crannies you may have missed if you've been there only, say, 11 times. 1. THERE'S BLOOD SOUP. Bottom right corner, "special hue soup". The menu doesn't come out and say there's blood in it: that's what you needed me for. Impress your friends with the dark. soft. cubes of coagulated blood. 2. THERE'S STANK. If you're white like me and order either of the "bac lieu style" soups (seafood or pork), the server will wrinkle their nose, shake their head, and wave their hand under their nose trying to dissuade you from ordering it, explaining "very strong smell". You're can't back down from that, can you? It's not bad, but they're not misleading you: it is highly fishy. 3. THERE'S FROZEN JELLY SHIT. In the desert section, get the excellent and interesting coconut milk jelly tapioca desert. Get the frozen bean deserts, too. You don't need the fresh lemon soda, it's not all that great. 4. THERE'S DURIAN. The King of Fruits always livens things up, and the durian smoothie has that creamy yogurt-custard taste with a hint of onion and cadaver you've been craving. 5. THERE'S PORK SKIN. Little piles of limp, soft, pale shredded skin. Actually, don't get this. Stick to the blood, the stank, the frozen jelly shit, and the durian. If I don't order one of these items, I get the vermicelli bowl with char-grilled shrimp, the steamed rice platter with a pork chop, or some kind of pho with meatballs, since I like rubbery textures. The rice plates with broiled sliced beef or pork are delicious, but too greasy for my taste, and the chicken too boring. I've had the pho plenty of times, and it's fine, but not the transformational, anise-perfumed ox-ass experience pho-fiending women crave. That's at Vietnam Coast in Houston. Service is great and the food comes out quickly. Giving the fourth star for consistency: good job, Pho Saigon staff. Pho Saigon's pretty good. See you there. Edit: today it seemed like everyone around us had 1-2 fried eggs on their plates and I wondered whether I'd gone nuts. I actually flagged a guy down and had him point out on the menu the entree served to a lady nearby, which I'd had (bare of egg) a dozen times. When you're sick and it's cold outside, there are few things more comforting than a bowl of pho. Noodles, veggies, spice and hot broth are just what the proverbial doctor ordered. Instead of hitting up my usual haunt, I used the magic of the yelp app to find me a spot to get my pho on. Pho Saigon was close to the minute clinic and hit the spot. My service was freakishly fast -- two springrolls and a small bowl of pho arriving within moments of my ordering. Those two spring rolls were plump and bursting with flavor. Charbroiled pork, rice wrapper and a slightly different version of the traditional peanut sauce. There was something about it that was oh so tasty. I got white meat chicken pho because I'm a wuss and because I like it, added all the good business (sprouts, jalapenos, basil), doused it liberally with sriracha and dug in. Be warned: Their small pho is still the size of a lagoon. This isn't uncommon among pho places of course but it's still always surprising. I took a spring roll and some of the soup home for dinner. Pho + 2 spring rolls + diet coke = $13. Not a bad deal for two meals, a full belly and the cure for what ails ya. read more

This place saved my life last week. I found out on a Friday that I had to have a root canal the next Monday (just a few days later). Of course, I didn't sleep all weekend because I kept having nightmares about sitting in the dentist chair, bright lights everywhere, the laughing gas not working. However, it was fine! I have a great dentist! What's more, I soothed my nerves by going to Pho Saigon afterwards. Tasty broth, slurpy noodles and tender beef for $5 and change for a small bowl of pho? Yes, please. Note that their "small" is not small. If you're trying to eat on the cheap, this bowl could easily feed two hungry people. They usually have a plethora of basil, mint, and bean sprouts so you could do it up, but they ran out of basil that day. That made me a bit sad, because I love putting practically a whole basil plant in my bowl, but it's cool. Their broth makes up for it. Their spring rolls are serviceable. They could make it great by putting a little more mint in there. I totally heap on the peanut sauce on those babies though. It's cheap, it hits the spot, but it's not like OMG. We came here after a night of drinking. Perfect remedy for the common hangover. The pho was amazing, probably because the broth was a little more fatty than most other places and most likely because I was still reeling from the effects from the night before. They serve generous portions here as a small bowl of pho here is almost the size of your standard large. The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon, but it doesn't take that long to get a table. There are enough tables and pho doesn't take much time to finish..thank God, as I was about to die of hunger. So why the 2 star rating? Before we were finished one of the waitresses basically forced us from the table even though we were clearly still working on our food. She brought the next group over to our table and we had no choice but to get up and leave. Granted, half our group had left earlier, but still. Last time I checked we were in the US and community seating here is a no-no. What's an extra 2 minutes anyway? Pity, since I would definitely come back if it weren't for this one incident. read more
