Unfortunately we learned our area is called a "food desert" due to lack of options and we really are used to larger more diverse cities with more variety and less chains. The pho is almost a 4/5. The broth was lacking in depth, but there isn't any better pho restaurants close to central/south Dallas. Pho Saigon has filled the void in my heart since I moved away from Dallas and Dalat, which was my pho go-to when I lived there. Pho Saigon is not what I would call a conventional place. When you first walk in, you'll be greeted by someone who, depending on how busy it is, will have you sit wherever you like. Service is very prompt, too - at least, it has been every time I've gone in. The restaurant itself is a bit ragtag - it doesn't have a bunch of uniformity to it, but that's part of its charm. What it lacks there is more than made up by the quality of the food. I love that the pho comes in several sizes. I hate it when I have to eat a ginormous bowl of pho that I can't finish. The broth is perfection - aromatic and savory. They're also very generous with the toppings. They always bring you a nice plate piled high with mung bean sprouts, thai basil, cilantro, and jalapenos. The chicken is thinly sliced, which I absolutely love, and makes it easier to eat. We asked the owner what was behind the number in the name of the restaurant. The food was mediocre and not the best. I order bun ga nuong cha gio (grilled chicken noodle with egg roll) and the nước mắm (fish sauce) that came with it have no to little flavor to it. I also order Pho Tai Nam Gan Sach (Eye-Round Steak, Flank, Tendon & Tripe noodle soup) have little flavor and it's wasn't hot enough, feel like eating cold soup. It does what you need for lunch. Quick service, hot food, and a lunch special. The Pho broth is bland, they are stingy with the meat and the noodles are not the best you will find. Other offerings are just okay and the bahn mi is absolutely forgettable. Arlington Pho houses beat all others in the metroplex, they are the gold standard. If you work close by this is your only option as it is located in Old K-Town. Not terrible but much better offerings can be found. read more

We just went there tonight and saw a mouse in the restaurant dinning area, running on top of the sign in the dinning area on top of the 'Welcome to Saigon 8.' If I had seen this mouse prior to eating, I would have gone somewhere else. The food was ok, but while we were there the staff got out a bug zapper and a ladder, and a long broom handle to try to kill the mouse in front of everyone eating at their fine establishment. Not cool! I was horrified. The mouse was quite small, probably recently born which leads me to think that there may be plenty more where that one came from. I ordered spring rolls which are $3.75 and Banh Mi Bo Kho which was $3.75 according to their online menu. When I arrived, they charged me $12.18. I understand that there is tax, but $4.68 cents of the bill was tax? If they charge a convenience fee for pick up orders, fine, I'm cool with that. But it should be clearly stated on their website and in their store that they will charge this. (I was in a rush and could not dispute the charge in the store since traffic was bad getting there and I had to rush back to the office.) So diners be aware. We are visiting from California where very good Pho places are dime-a-dozen so we know what we are talking about -and we cook this ourselves. The soup wasn't tasty, the noodles were overcooked - I think my bowl got the left overs that clung to the pot after the boiling process. And the beef! It was disintegrating and tasted like it was minutes from being completely stale.
