Little Gem and the BEST PHO I have ever had!!! It's very near Cherry Hill Rd in Silver Spring and well worth the extra 5 minute drive. Clean, clean and clean! No dirt or sloppy tables. My husband and I are total Pho freaks. We eat Pho alll the time, any chance we get. We've eaten in many different places- some good and some bad. I am not a particularly picky person so it's pretty hard for me to be disappointed. This place was just straight up bad. And I'm not just talking about taste. Worse- it's completely unsanitary. My Pho had a dead fly in it. My husband's pho (the meat) looked & tasted terrible. When we approached them about these issues, they didn't even seem to care or try to compensate us in any way or offer something different. They still charged us for everything that we didn't even finish eating. The broccoli was so mushy and tasted bad. The cabbage was clearly not fresh with dark spots all over it. Even the water tasted weird. It's a shame. I honestly don't know how they got all these positive reviews. Do yourselves a favor and stay away. read more

You guys clearly don't get Pho very often. The service was excellent and the people very nice, but a couple of points... 1. Beef is not white. Pork is, but beef is not and never has been. Usually the meat is placed raw in the broth, but this has been cooked dead already. 2. The broth is simple. It's good, sure but it isn't the complex broth that is normally the signature of Pho, and it is very watered down. This is a very cheap version of Pho, and we are disappointed. read more

Parking is tiny and uncomfortable. But when I tell you. This place is impeccable. It is spotless, clean, the staff is friendly and professional. The FOOD is delicious. I have had the beef pho, veggie and tofu pho, all their spring rolls and boba for dessert. This place is my favorite place for pho in silver spring. I'm having a hard time deciding why not to give Pho Real five stars. Okay, so, the décor leaves a lot to be desired, how's that? Because the food is so good, I'm finding it hard to focus on any thing else. Let me preface this by saying, I'm not Vietnamese, or even southeast Asian, so I cannot speak to the authenticity of the food. From what I do know of pho and the cuisine from that region, however, this is very spot on. The broth is incredibly subtle, yet complex. The meat was fresh and delicious. The accoutrements were all there. Nothing was out of place. And the way I was feeling the last time I went, soup was definitely on the menu for me. This totally hit the spot. I think I need to start going here more and more as the weather gets cooler this Fall/Winter, and probably into the Spring and Summer. Ahhh this is definitely one of my favorite places for pho in the area! The usually get beef/chicken broth, and they are both very flavorful and taste pretty fresh. I love that they have a broth for vegetarians since my brother doesn't eat meat. I heard that it's good, so maybe I'll try that next time. The noodles are never too soggy, and they give you a decent portion of noodles and toppings. I think my favorite thing to get here isn't exactly the pho, but one of their dessert drinks. If you want to feel like you're eating traditional pho then forreal Pho Real got you covered! It's really different from most of the pho restaurants I've been to. First off when you walk in the restaurant the first thing you realize is that they're playing traditional Vietnamese music. Although I didn't understand it, I enjoyed listening to it while eating my pho. Me and my friend were greeted by a super sweet lady. She handed us the menu and then I realized this place only sells pho (as main dish)...which is really odd. But then I find that very appealing, it's really rare for a restaurant to specialize in only one thing nowadays. And if you do, then you have to be really good at it. After trying their pho I was pretty impressed! The beef was very flavorful (not losing any of its original flavor). Broth was good as well. But what really impressed me was their durian smoothie with bubbles!!!! I'm pretty sure it's made with real durian! The first sip blew me away...never thought I'd taste such strong flavors in smoothie. If you are a durian lover you'll regret not coming here. Rainy day, cold day, any day is good for pho at Pho Real. Friendly & courteous staff. One of the best, most authentic pho I've had in the DMV. My usual is the number 1 with raw eye round on top. The broth comes smoky hot, enough to gently cook the thin meat and the bean sprouts. All the ingredients are fresh and delicious. The broth is light and heavenly -- rich in flavor and perfectly seasoned. I find in some places the broth can be overly salty or sweet; NOT here! They have other offerings like the pork egg rolls and summer rolls that are also good. If you're a boba fan, they offer that here as well. My definite go to for pho in the area. Their focus is on their pho and the mastery of it shows. Oftentimes, this place is packed even during off hours. The large was a wee bit over 10 bucks which I thought was about average. Slightly bummed because the menu that I found indicated an up charge for take out orders. Can't say that I understand that, but whatevs. The pho itself was alright, can't say it was better than my fav near home. I felt that for a large it needed way more noodles as they ran out prior to the beef. The broth was okay, but I think it needed a bit more to add to the taste. The fixins offered were okay. A friend wasn't feeling well and after suggesting that he get pho for dinner, I started craving it, so I decided to drive to MD to meet him for dinner. For me, MD is like those old maps where things just drop off and the map says "here there be dragons", but I would be willing to brave the dragons over and over again for this pho. Pho Real is located in a little strip of restaurants, hair salons, and a wine and beer shop (note - only wine and beer, which in my experience is odd in MD). The parking lot is a bit of an adventure. No one appears to look before they back out and I witnessed at least 3 near accidents while walking to the front door. The menu is small. Two appetizers (egg rolls and summer rolls - both of which contain shrimp) and 17 different pho options. The hot tea is cheap $0.50 and not too weak. The young coconut water was tasty and full of healthy slices of coconut. I ordered a large pho tai and my friend got a large pho ga. The broths were clear and very flavorful, even before adding anything. There were a lot more noodles than I have had at other pho places. The large pho was quite large, neither my friend nor I could finish our entire bowls. The only reason I am not giving Pho Real 5 stars is that the meat in my pho tai was overcooked. I'm used to the meat being raw when it arrives and cooking in the broth. Looking around, it appears that the guests that spoke Vietnamese to the servers got their meat that way. They may have simply assumed that this scandinavian looking girl didn't like her tai raw. Next time I will make sure to ask. The chicken in the pho ga on the other hand was nice and tender. One of the best pho places I've ever been to. The fragrant broth is on point, and they don't skimp on portions. Super efficient staff gets you your food quickly and the overall atmosphere is that of a friendly, family owned place. I typically go for the number 1 (small) and that's plenty of food. It's an assortment of brisket, rib eye, tendon, and tripe. Good combination of flavors and textures and it's not over cooked. The complimentary add ons include bean sprouts, jalapeños, Thai basil, and lime. These soup noodles are perfect on a cold day or if you need some warm, comfort food. This is a go to whenever we are in the area and we are never disappointed. The service and food is consistently amazing and all for a very affordable price. For drinks, I've enjoyed their Thai iced teas and iced coffees. Note: it's typically served with condensed milk so if you don't like your coffee too sweet you can tell them to go light on the milk. Pho good pho real! We happen to be in the Columbia/Silver Spring area and wanted to get some pho on a chilly April day. This is your no-frill just-pho type of place with nothing fusion. While the summer rolls were of your typical quality/taste, the pho broth, meat and noodles were all cooked really well. We walked in and before we even said how many in our party, the guy was bringing over a high chair for our baby. They brought out an extra bowl with a pair of scissors to cut the pho--first time a pho restaurant has done that. This is strictly a pho place, so there aren't any other dishes to order. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect since this place was located in a strip mall, but man was the pho and summer rolls delicious! We had the summer rolls (spring roll wrapped in rice paper with shrimp and pork-$3.99) and pho with slices of well-done brisket, well-done flank, and well-done skirt flank (small-$6.99, large-$7.99) washed down with a Thai iced tea ($2.99 and $3.50 with boba). These were the best summer rolls I've ever had. They were pretty huge and hand a generous amount of shrimp and pork. Dipped in the peanut sauce, man I was in heaven. The pho came out steaming hot. The small is rather big, especially given the fact that it came with a lot of noodles and meat. All the garnishes were fresh (onions, cilantro, bean sprouts, jalapenos, and basil) and were a great addition to the oh so yummy pho. I didn't enjoy the Thai tea as much though. Tasted like cotton candy. They do offer smoothies with real fruit (mango, durian, strawberry, and coconut) and boba for $3.99 though. I think I'll give these a try next time.
