Really enjoyed the food, the warm greeting from the owner and the really cute decor. The owner was super nice and helped my friend find something on the menu that worked for her "gentle palate" in a spice rich environment that she LOVED. (beef stir fry). The service is horrible. We wait for 20 minutes till the server take the order. We wait another 30 minutes for the food. ( we asked the server for food who later yelled at us that "I don't see that I am busy"?). The two old ladies came after us got the food 10 minutes before us. Finally after we have our food. I'm writing this one star review with the explicit encouragement of the woman who runs/owns Pho Queen. I placed an order at 6:15 pm using the Mealeo delivery app that is on Pho Queen's website. At 6:24 pm I received a confirmation email from Mealeo that my order was being made. The confirmation email states that my order should be delivered within 45 minutes. At 8pm, close to an hour after my order should have been delivered and 90 minutes after my order was placed online, I called Pho Queen to patiently ask about the delivery status of my order. I've worked in food service and I understand that the kitchen can get in the weeds, so I approach food service workers with the benefit of the doubt. A younger man answered and told me "The delivery driver has left already". When I asked if my order was with the driver, he said "Uh, yeah, yeah, he's left already....". Hmm. By 8:30, two hours after Pho Queen confirmed through the Mealeo app that my order was being made, I called Pho Queen to cancel my order and request a refund. I live ten minutes away from Pho Queen and our order had two main dishes and one appetizer in it; by the two-hour mark it's reasonable for a customer to expect better and a restaurant to acknowledge that something has gone sideways in their service. I was hungry and no longer willing to rely on Pho Queen to feed me. On this call the young man would not even confirm that they had even made my order yet. Two hours after my confirmation email that it was being made. When I told the young man that I wanted to cancel the order and request a refund on my card, that we'd decided to abandon this order and go out to eat, he passed the phone to a woman he said was "the chef". Screeching in broken English, she interrupted every single one of my calm sentences, refusing to cancel the order or grant me a refund by yelling "YOUNOUNDERSTAND! YOUNOTTHEONLYCUSTOMER!". I explained that two hours was not a reasonable time to wait for delivery from a restaurant ten minutes away, to which she screeched "TOOBADIMNOTCANCELLING!". At this point I lost my temper and firmly told her that she could either refund my $50 or I can post reviews of this experience online. To which she replied "I DON'T CARE! I DON'T CARE! GO AHEAD!", and promptly **hung up on me**. I gave her an opportunity to solve this problem with customer satisfaction, and she threw it back in my face. So we went to Jade Bistro in Scotia, instead, where the customer service is predictably good, the menu consistently good, and I know I will never be screeched at by an unstable employee. So, I'm staying true to my word and following that grotesque woman's encouragement to GO AHEAD and post this review. Kisses! I'm never giving Pho Queen another dollar and I will tell everyone I know about this comically horrid experience. There are other, better Asian restaurants in Scotia and Schenectady, and they will flourish while Pho Queen and its Ice Queen chef/owner will fail. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch last week. We were the only customers dinning in around 2pm and it seems to be a slow afternoon. But they had a couple takeout orders. So we waited about 20min for our food. He had the lunch special Thai fried rice and I had a Thai style phô. However his order of fried rice was a very small portion compared with my phô. It might just be because it was a lunch special instead of a regular entree. If you are a big eater I don't recommend the lunch special due to the small portions. Also their beverage menu has expanded, they taped it towards the cash register. The boba flavors are: honeydew, taro, Thai ice tea, strawberry, red cotton candy, milk tea, red bean. I ordered the taro milk tea with less boba so there's more taro milk tea to taste. They all costs around $3.50 each. Fairly decent Prices. read more

We enjoy the food at Pho Queen very much, which isn't full-on Thai spicy but which is close enough for Schenectady. The service is homey (read: casual and often slow and inattentive) and we've had problems with getting the right bill on both occasions we've been for dinner. It's also super-cramped and when it's cold outside, you get wicked blasts of cold air due to the lack of a double door. The storefront must've been a millinery or somesuch originally, and some of the original details are intact, so it's interesting, but because of the seating limitations and the aforementioned door problem the ambiance isn't really ideal. So: nice family meal spot, but at slightly higher than family meal prices, for decent grub. It's not the first choice we have at that price point, but if it were lower we might go much more often. read more

Worst service EVER! Feels like we were being discriminated against for being Asian. Because the waitress treated others fine. We were dine-in for dinner. But when we asked "Is our food ready yet" with a calm and not complaining tone after 40 minutes of waiting, she became irritated and her tone was RUDE. We should have just left, but we don't want them to not get paid if they already started cooking our food. Pho Queen cooks up the BEST Thai food I've had in the 518. I've ordered food from Pho Queen many times and the food (and service) has always been on point. I've had the Pad Thai (both beef and chicken), the Drunken Noodles (beef and chicken), chicken satay, and the Kuai Tiao Nam. All of it was super delicious. I have celiac disease and the first time I order from Pho Queen I explained to the owner that I can't have gluten. She made sure the food I ordered was gluten-free, and even made me summer rolls (which are gluten free) since I can't have either the spring roll or dumpling that normally comes with lunch (since they contain gluten). For the record, the summer rolls are AMAZING. After my very first order, the owner remembered my name and my dietary restrictions and she is always very helpful and friendly. The restaurant itself is small but very stylish - perfect for a casual meal, romantic dinner or business lunch. Great to have a sort of "replacement" for Thai food in downtown Schenectady, given the recent unfortunate events at the Thai Thai bistro. This place offers a more authentic experience than Thai Thai offered anyway. Ordered take-out, was very fast and fresh. We had special requested for pad thai w/o any added sugar, and they were able to accommodate. It was very good, especially when mixing in some of their red chili sauce. I ordered the green curry, which is typically my favorite Thai dish. It was good, but was not the best I've ever had (lacking some flavor, had to add some of their chili sauce to compensate). A unique e take on pho in my opinion. By far I am not a connoisseur, but it isn't your typical beef pho broth that is perfect for a hangover. This is a few steps up from that with interesting additions like duck and seafood. They also have a good about of spicy dishes if you are looking for that. I don't ever want to eat anywhere else again! The food is so expertly crafted that each flavor comes out in layers as you eat it. I had the green curry tofu and the shrimp satay. The curry was perfectly spiced so that it was not too hot to eat, as I've had this happen at other restaurants. And I was super excited that they had SHRIMP satay. It's always chicken, which I don't eat. But if you do, they have chicken satay as well. The shrimp was alternated by fresh vegetables and then grilled. The sauce, which was amazing in every way, was served on the side. We took our food to go but the dining room is lovely. Perfect for a get- to- know you date or a special dinner before a show. My sister and I stopped in for an early dinner. The place is a tiny hidden gem in downtown Schenectady. The interior is classily quaint with several small tables and comfortable seating. Bright and cheerful decor, and the service was perfect. We had drunken noodles and a spicy "dissolved fish" dish after spring rolls and a delightful kafir lime chicken soup. My fish was flaky and tender with a crispy skin. Complimented with an aromatic ginger sauce and vegetables. Fresh fried peppercorns were an unexpected surprise and added a kick! Sis's noodles were vegetarian, and full of flavor. She would have liked more kale, but the spice was just to her liking. We both ate till past full and took leftovers home.
