I rarely resort to leaving a negative review, but today my mom, son and I went to Pho Pasteur, where we've been lots of times before. I ordered Bun with tofu, not for the first time, but I took literally one bite and it tasted rancid, like literally rancid oil. The sauce, which is normally clear, had a brown cast and it was separated, with a layer of shiny grease on the surface that I'd never seen before. I told the always-rude waitress (who I'd rather not ever have to interact with, honestly) that I couldn't eat my food because it tasted very off, not like it usually does. I ordered a banh mi, since my mom was having one and it seemed fine. Rude Waitress offered me a to-go box, which I declined...and asked why would I want to take home inedible food? And she said, "Well it's not our fault you don't like it." And I said that I wasn't sending it back because I "didn't like it", I was sending it back because it tasted like it was spoiled. She shrugged (!) and asked if I still wanted the sandwich and I said no, not if she wasn't going to take the Bun off of my bill??? She picked it up and walked away without a word. I didn't have the budget to add another thing to my bill. So I watched my family eat dinner. When I went to pay my $50+ check, I left the tip line blank. She literally looked down at it and said, "excuse me?" I said, quite softly because I could hardly believe what had just happened, "Actually no, I won't. Not today." And we just left. As an added kick, I've had an off stomach all day, and my son, who got the combo pho he also always gets, thought his ingredients (like the tendon and tripe, normally his favorite) tasted odd by the middle of his bowl and has been very ill this evening. I want to let my fellow diners know that this place has gone noticeably downhill and today was the straw. There are too many great pho places in Richardson to put up with rude service and dodgy ingredients, where they are way friendlier and don't give you intestinal distress as a bonus! Hope maybe I spare someone a really bad experience. It's so insanely expensive to dine out these days! read more

Great food with fair portions and prices in this tight economy. Picked up four spring rolls with extra peanut sauce and combination pho. Both were delicious-but-I still am searching for a place that will use mint. Mint is refreshing on a hot summer day and gives a nice flair to a spring roll. The service was fast and staff was very nice greeting me and taking my order right away. It was lunchtime and the restaurant was very busy-so I thought to myself it just be good. Food arrived as ordered-pho is available in 2 sizes-large and XL. I got the large where they gave me plenty of beef-in fact more meat than broth? But, I'm not complaining because the flavors of broth and meat were synchronized in the harmony of delicious pho. Pho should be a marriage between broth, noodles and protein of your choice and this was a well blended marriage that was delicious and I will be back for more. Start off with some egg rolls that come with pickles vegetables, thin rice noodles, and lettuce. If not, try their spring rolls which is my favorite. I usually go for shrimp and pork rolls, but you can opt for grilled beef or chicken! Their pho is full of flavor and has a clean taste. I recommend the seafood pho (#16 Hu Tieu thit, cua, tom). An absolute nightmare. I have never in my life eaten pho as terrible as this. We ordered off UberEats, which I understand will affect the quality of the food, but even after taking that into account, the food was practically inedible. The beef broth was very bland, the noodles were broken into 2cm segments before they even came out of the container, the beef was bearable, and finally the single beef meatball that it came with was the most soggy overly-expanded mushy spongey mouthful of meat I've ever had the displeasure of putting in my mouth. This was the very first time that I did not eat more than half an order of pho, and the very first time that I have not finished a single meatball. The lemongrass chicken tasted like microwaved chicken with two sear lines that were almost inexplicable considering that the chicken didn't even taste grilled at all. It was dry and rubbery and made chicken breast salad seem soft and juicy in comparison. There was no lemongrass flavor to be found, and I was so concerned that I almost had to post a missing ingredients alert since I was certain that I had ordered a lemongrass chicken on rice. Maybe the chef was having a bad day and the lemongrass ran away, and I can only hope that the chef found it again for the subsequent orders of this pitiful dish. I don't understand how this place has such high ratings, and I won't be trying it again to find out. read more

We've been going to this place for over a decade. The Pho has never been "great", but it's always been "good enough" when you are craving a big bowl of Pho. However, as of tonight, we are never going back. This place has gone down-hill big time. I ordered my usual - Pho with brisket, and my wife got Pho with "everything". First, the Pho itself was simply lacking flavor. That big beefy broth you want, nope it's not there. Instead is some watered down fake flavor that tastes like it came from an instant soup package. Well, ok not even that good. Then, the brisket in my bowl was uneatable. It was shoe-leather tough. Instead of nice, tender slices of slow-cooked brisket, they put in paper-thin slices of uncooked brisket. No, this was not the raw meat that some people like. That's a different cut of beef, which is fine. This was paper-thin briket, obviously cut while the meat was frozen in order to get it that thin, then dunked in before serving. It was cooked, but you can't make brisket like that. It's crap. The food was just bad. Time to find a new favorite Pho place - this ain't it. I should also add - I have never read Yelp reviews about this place before, as like I said, we've been coming here every 6 months or so for over 10 years. Was stuck between a 3 or 4 stars, but decided to go with 4 because the food itself is deserving of that. A lot of pho places leave you feeling pretty heavy and kind of sick of the broth, but I realized that after eating a bowl of this pho, I was feeling refreshed and satisfied - nothing too heavy. I got the combination pho and all the meats tasted just right for me. Great texture. My friend ordered the #23 order which he seemed to enjoy very much - it's more of an acquired taste however. I was tempted to give this place 3 stars simply because of the conditions of the facilities. The floor had that greasy, slippery feeling and the smell of the place wasn't pleasant at all. It was rainy that day so it could have just been because it was humid outside, but it had a very musty, almost bathroom smelling smell. It was a pretty prominent smell and it took a while getting used to. But don't let that defer you! The pho and food itself here is great quality. I've been coming here for almost 10 years. I only like about four out of the few hundred pho spots in Dallas. This is my number one. I either get the Pho Tai Bo Vien (tai on the side cause I like my meat medium rare), Pho Ga, or Com Thit Nuong. Don't listen to the people talking down on the broth, take it from a Vietnamese, this is the closest to perfect - real pho broth is made so that you can adjust the taste to your preference using sriracha, hoisin sauce, and the vegetables anyway. They only have a large and xlarge bowl but they charge the same as a small/medium bowl anywhere else. The eggrolls and spring rolls are a little taxed, but I promise it's worth it. The eggrolls are fried so crunchy yet so soft on the inside. My food always comes out in less than 10 minutes, it is piping hot, and fresh. read more

I arrived and asked for my order, they couldn't find it and said it was still being prepared. I saw an order on the counter and figured it was for someone else. I was asked to take a seat and wait. In the 25 mins that I waited 5-6 people came in, picked up their order and left. Then they said my order was ready and pointed me to the order that had been sitting on the counter for 25 minutes. Really good Pho Restaurant. I ordered their Pho Tai and Special order spring rolls. Both were excellent. I really enjoyed the broth and the noodles that was AlDente. The Spring rolls were excellent too. I enjoyed the simplicity of the spring rolls that was rolled for right bite size. One of the Best Pho in the Dallas area (trust me I've tried pho from Allen to Oak cliff). They have quick, friendly, and efficient service. The broth is always piping hot and delicious. If your looking for a spot to grab a quick lunch or dinner, I highly recommend their meatball and beef flank pho along with the egg rolls with fish sauce. The Viet coffee is delicious as well, if you need a quick pick-me-up, and it even comes in a foam cup so the ice doesn't melt too fast. Best pho in dallas! No other place comes even anywhere close to the authenticity of this place. For me personally first sip and smell of broth says it all about how good it will be. Next on list is try Houston places to see if any triumphs this place (which I doubt). They are always so friendly here and explains if there are doubts (I just ask my friends for what's best). I went here twice in the last week and have not been disappointed! We started with spring rolls and egg rolls which were both very good. The accompanying peanut sauce for the spring rolls was very flavorful, I like to add a little chili sauce or sriracha for a kick. The egg rolls were just as good, especially wrapped up in lettuce and the fresh herbs that are given. I ordered the grilled pork vermicelli bowl (#31 on the menu). I've had a lot of vermicelli bowls in the DFW area and this ranks among the best. Usually, the nuac chom sauce doesn't have enough vinegar or citrus, but this one was made just right. It was a LOT of food, and I ate every bite. On my second visit I tried the bun bo hue, which is a spicy beef soup. It could've used a bit more spice, but it was still an enjoyable meal. I'm so happy to have some pho loving Yelp friends to lunch with on Saturdays. My pho addiction is definitely in full swing. I doubt I'll ever be too adventurous with pho, and will probably stick with the beef. At least for now. So I ordered the #1. This was good stuff. The only thing I didn't like was the meat ended up getting a little tough the more it cooked in the broth. To the point where I left some of the meat behind. But the broth was tasty and I was able to get the flavors I love with the basil, cilantro, lime and jalapenos. The spring rolls and the egg rolls were awesome. This was the first time I've seen eggrolls come with noodles. Wrap all that up in some lettuce and dip in the fish sauce and you have a little bit of heaven in your mouth. There are countless of Vietnamese restaurants in town that offer pho but Pho Pasteur will always have that special spot in my heart. The servers here aren't the best but they're always quick at getting my food to the table so that's enough for me. As for the food, my ultimate go to is always the pho. The pho here is delicious and filling but not always consistent to be honest. Flavor can always be adjusted with hoison and sriracha though so not so much of a problem for me. I always get the pho with bo vien (meatballs) and sometimes I get tai (sliced meat) on the side. When I'm not feeling pho, I get the vermicelli noodle with grilled pork and eggrolls or the rice plate with the fried chicken in the speciality section which are both tasty but huge in portion size. Overall, clean restaurant and generous portions at reasonable prices. If you're craving Vietnamese food and are in the area, I would definitely recommend. read more
