    House Special Pho
    Nelson C.

This is what pho should be like! I came during a busy lunch and there weren't a lot of tables left. But I was seated quite quickly. As soon as a window seat opened up I asked for it. The food was amazing with generous portions. I had the large house special ($14) and spring rolls ($8 for 2.) It's a pretty crowded space and the ambiance feels like a living room with all the big tables and chairs. If you need more tea just waive your server over. Very good food.

My first experience here was pretty good. Large bowl of house noodle pho had the nicest cuts of brisket I've ever seen for a good price of $14. There was so much rice noodles though I can't complain especially when I was hungry. Broth was good, I didn't feel thirsty after drinking it. I came back with family for my second visit and the older skinny Vietnamese lady was very rude. I've never seen anyone place food down so aggressively. She slammed down my parents bowls and just left. When my sister's and my order came, she just shoved the plates in our faces. I don't know what her problem is but she ruined our dining experience, so unprofessional and obnoxious the way she treats people. The other lady with shoulder length hair and glasses was nice wish we had her instead.

4.5/5 I popped in twice in December and ordered the same thing as I was stuck in traffic bc of the snow, I agree with the other reviewers. Pho Pasteur is a hidden gem. Both times I had Beef Stew Noodles. It was really great! The noodles were blanched to perfection, the ratio of the soup and noodles was appropriate. The beef although smaller than other places, were bite size and tender. Slivered white onion was done beautifully and crisp. Appreciated there is street parking in the front and a parking lot in the back. Setting is very cosy and family style.

Nice mom and pop restaurant. Friendly service, especially if you can speak Cantonese. I don't but my friend does. So they are chatting away to us in Cantonese. I just nod and smile. We are wondering how they can survive during this inflationary period while keeping prices still low/affordable. $10-11 pho is super rare now. The owners try to keep things affordable for customers by doing everything themselves. No staff. I do notice the large pho is mainly more noodles. The protein is quite little. The broth is very tasty though. I also like the house made chili oil. The shop is located on the upper level of coming in from Hastings. There is rear parking and it leads right into the restaurant. Do support this place if you are in the area.

Cheap and tasty hole in the wall pho place in Burnaby Heights. Can't believe I went by all these years without noticing the place. Parking is available on Hastings, as well as a lot behind the building. I would recommend parking in the back, though the alley sure is steep towards the W end. The restaurant itself is actually located upstairs. The interior is orange (like the fruit), and feels like someone's living room, with the decorations and the TV in the middle of the room. Staff are friendly. Looks like a mom and pop operation, and possibly some relatives helping out. As of the time of writing, this has to be the cheapest pho in the entire neighbourhood. I ended up coming here several times to try the various dishes. Pho portion is decent, and the broth is nice and clear. Meat and other cow bits are fresh. Rice dishes here taste fine, but the portion is noticeably smaller than the competition. Don't say I didn't warn you. Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi) are decent. Bread is nice and crunchy, and the filling tastes authentic. The other downside to this place is that they close earlier than other similar places. Something to keep in mind. I think I found my new go to place.

Pho Pasteur Restaurant I randomly bumped into this hidden gem and it's unnoticed if you drive by. They only have a sign with the menu on the main door. You have to walk up the stairs to 2nd floor to the restaurant. 12. Grilled Prawn Paste on Sugar Cane, Grilled Pork & Spring Roll on Vermicelli 16. Vegetable & tofu pho (vegan)

Very tasty, affordable and filling vegetarian pho. We stopped in for lunch on a Monday and each ordered their vegetarian pho ($11.50 plus tax), which is vegan. Less than 10 minutes later, our soups arrived. You get a massive bowl, filled with a generous portion of thin vermicelli, mixed veggies (broccoli, green cabbage and carrot), fried tofu, and typical garnishes (green onion, cilantro and crispy fried onion), served with basil, lemon and bean sprouts. The broth was delicious, being wonderfully salty and also with a nice black pepper character that is a little different to most veggie phos out there. All in all, we really enjoyed this. Yet another great spot in town for veggie pho. Recommended.

The three of us came here for an early dinner as we heard this place was good. This place used to be a crab pot place and then something else...I lost count and I hope this place can keep dishing out good food. Typical Vietnamese joint decor. Reminds me of the good old '90s pho places with the large Chinese ornaments, neon lights and giant TV. No frills. I love it, and I miss it. We placed our order with a Vietnamese mama looking type and waited a whopping 7 mins for our food to be dished out. Here is what we had: - Pho Dac biet (L $11): 5/5 that broth is gem. No MSG, clear and not fatty. Noodles were done just right. Raw beef is lean and fresh. Lots of ingredients and noodles. - Bun Cha Glo + Ga Nuong($11): 4/5 Ok portion. Ingredients are not bad in portion or taste. Veggies are fresh and noodles are good. The nuoc cham is less sugary and salty than other places and I can taste the pure sweetness in the fish sauce base. - Banh mi heo ($6): 2/5 oh, big disappointment. The bun itself is crusty and hard. The pork is lacking in proportion. No sauce or other means to promote flavour. Overall: yes, we will come back to try other items on the menu, but we will not have the Banh mi again.

Honestly our eyes caught the large signs in the window with their specials of House Pho and Pork Chop with rice for $8.50 +tax. Being in the neighborhood, my family is constantly on the search for another good bowl of pho that's close by. The Burnaby Heights is constantly changing and new developments are definitely making the area more desirable to patrons. This little gem opened 6 month ago and I'm guessing since COVID like most restaurants, they also had to shut down. The interior is a bit dated and has reminiscence of previous restaurants that was in that space before them, but lets be honest, we're there for the food. The Pork Chop on Rice special was fantastic! Not just the flavour but also the portion! A fantastic deal for $8.50! I had ordered the Chicken and Spring roll on Vermicelli ($10.50). The chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly. The spring roll ... if you've been to Bao Chau in Vancovuer, thye're similar to those but a tad smaller. Overall,It was enough food that I was able to bring home leftovers. Our server/owner(?) was super friendly and even gave us free dessert! Its nice to see that they're taking care by wearing masks when serving us. They are fantastic people serving up some delicious food. I can't wait to go back and try the pho. If you're in the area, go check it out! Eat local and be kind.

    House Special Pho ($9.50)

I was in the area and wanted to get some take out. I decided to give this restaurant a try after a quick Yelp search. It was $9.50 for the house special pho and $10.50 for the spring roll and grilled beef on vermicelli bowl. Definitely, one of the better priced Vietnamese restaurants in this area. The pho broth was not greasy and had a hint of sweetness to the beefy broth. It was a decent tasting broth. The noodles and beef toppings were a generous portion. The vermicelli bowl was great too. Salad was fresh. Beef slices were grilled alright but no grill marks. The deep fried spring roll was perfection. I like my spring rolls made with rice wrapper instead of the wheat wrapper. The spring roll was crispy. Filling was a good mix of noodles, carrots, wood ear mushrooms and pork. Service was fast. Food was ready for pick up in 15 minutes. Bean sprouts were cooked as requested. Everything was packed nicely. One last note, this restaurant accepts only cash or debit.

It was okay for me and it was just quite cheap and good for the portion price. Uncle was really nice and nice tea too. Only cash and debit unfortunately but hey its a comfort restaurant and will come around again if i am around the area and need to get comfort food!

It does not come with tofu, so I added some (another $4!) to my small size. The pho came out in less than 10 minutes. The pho came with lots of veggies (lots of broccoli, plus cauliflower, carrot, celery, white onion and green onion), plus lots of rice noodles, and tofu. Of course, the broth is usually what makes or breaks a pho, and this was one of the most low-effort, lamest vegetable broths I've tried in Greater Vancouver (and I've tried over 90 pho places in the Metro area that have veggie pho options). In fact, I saw the woman fill up my pho bowl from the hot water dispenser. So, they don't even bother to have a proper veggie broth; they just base the broth on hot water, with maybe some salt and possibly some other spices? The broth tasted like barely salted water. Super lame. Embarrassing product to serve. The value is bad given the very lame quality. I like that they have a veggie pho option. The portion is big and you get lots of vegetables, though the lack of tofu is definitely a thumbs down given the already above average price for the pho. All in all, don't come here for veggie pho. 2 stars is very generous.
