I've given PHO NOW in Downingtown, Pa at least six chances to improve their service, demeanor, and food quality. The service is poor with the greeter apparently thinking that he can get by without saying good afternoon or good evening when a customer greets him... and BTW he does speak English. A very arrogant little SOB who has not changed over the year. He does not understand the words "thank you" either and I noticed this with several customers and how they're greeted and those who have left this establishment without even being acknowledged after paying leaving a tip and walking past this person. The food is average at best and they serve inconsistent portions. The "greeter" blames it on the food that he gets from his supplier but when you have two meats in a dish and one is a third of the size of the other my question whether they have inventory control or just trying to rip their customers off. They never fill the quart container but always leave at least a 2 inch gap between the liquid and the top of the quart container. When I asked him to fill it, the price was almost the amount of the soup, which was $8.. needless to say that was my last straw and I won't be going back. Maybe this is how they do business in other countries but here in the United States we want what we pay for.. we work hard enough for it! read more

I eat here a few times a year. The food is great. I don't think I've ever had a bad food experience. I usually order a vermicelli bowl or pho. It was a good pho place to visit! My friends and I had dinner here and we sat in a comfortable place near the window. The pho broth was just a tiny bit less flavorful than I had anticipated from previous pho soups I have had, but that's no problem. I was craving for some Vietnamese food and decided to go here on the way home. It's a very nice looking restaurant. I love the decor. There was a wide selection of food. The service was typical Asian-ness. (?) We had bun rieu, bun bo, bo la lop, jackfruit smoothie and Vietnamese iced coffee. The bo nuong la was tasty. The noodle soup tastes okay as a whole, but the broth was very watered down and flavorless. The bun bo is not spicy at all. It's pho broth with chili oil and flank steak. It's not right. The bun rieu could use more flavor. The crab paste is not great. The jackfruit would of been better with real fruit. It's artificial flavor powder and was too sweet. I'm disappointed. I want to think that the pho is probably amazing. I want give them the benefit of the doubt, but I don't want to encourage lazy cooking and bad presentation of Vietnamese cuisine. P.S. My aunt and uncle who live in the area took us here for dinner when we were visiting. I ordered a bowl of pho to share with my mom and the portion was big enough to be split by three people. The pho was good and standard, tastes like your average Vietnamese restaurant. Service was iffy. We had to ask a couple of times for an extra bowl and when the guy delivered it to our table he just dumps it. No it's either lack or understanding English or just no respect. The place was clean, except for items on the table was refilled and clean (salt,pepper, horizin sauce and chill sauce). We was given ice water and serving plates was put on the table along with menu. I have to be extremely honest and tell you all, that the prices for the dishes was very very expensive. In Rhode Island I can get large bowl of pho with everything included for $10. This place is $17.50 and it wasn't even extra large bowl. The pho was watered down. There was no real flavor to it at all. The mango drink was $6.50 and was bland. There's a sign on the door stating days they will be close. We decided to visit here on a whim on a Saturday evening and overall it was a pleasant experience. We ordered: -vegetarian spring rolls -chicken wings with fish sauce -shrimp pho -grilled beef pho The spring rolls came out scorching hot and we're absolutely delicious. All of thr other spring rolls had pork mixed in so we couldn't try those but once we got these we didn't miss the chicken or other alternative fillings. They were crisp, fresh, and flavorful. The chicken wings again came out so hot we had to wait patiently to taste them. I was confused that their was no sauce on them. They were just naked, unseasoned chicken wings with a small cup of fish sauce on the side. I asked if this was what I ordered and the gentleman told me yes that some people don't like their wings with the sauce on them. so apparently some people order Vietnamese chicken wings and then get upset when they receive actual Vietnamese chicken wings? Who knew. We were perplexed by that but we just ordered more sauce and coated our wings at the table ourselves. After that they were delicious. My grilled beef pho was amazing. The beef comes on a side plate and is well seasoned and tender. My partner got the shrimp pho and he hate every bit of it before we left. My bowl was overwhelmingly full and I ended up taking half home to eat the next day. I'm certain we'll be back to try more things as it was really really good food. I expected better; it was just ok. A bit pricey for what you get. I only had 6 medium sized shrimps in my dish at a $13 charge. The steamed pork dumplings are not appetizing, and look weird too- wouldn't recommend. We may try this place for another dish, but so far not that impressed. read more

Came here for the first time and ordered take out. Ordered their vegetarian pho (P1) and their shrimp and pork summer rolls (A1). Total came out to around $18. What's Hot - Quality. Dudes, for a pho restaurant, it's always important to have good quality broth. This place has it. Nice flavor and well seasoned. - Good takeout containers. This may seem trivial to some, but when you're dealing with noodle soup, good takeout containers are highly important! Additionally, they made sure to give me bean sprouts, basil, and sliced jalapeños in my takeout container. It was wrapped separately in a little baggie. The summer rolls were well wrapped in saran wrap, to prevent dryness. There was enough oyster sauce in the container, which they mixed with Sriracha. Awesome! - Good service. I called in my order and they were very polite and helpful. For example, when I asked for their summer rolls, I specifically asked for the ones that aren't fried and called them spring rolls (which is what most Vietnamese restaurants I know do call them). The waiter was polite and made sure that I wanted the ones with shrimp and pork. Additionally, when I asked for the vegetarian pho, he asked if I wanted vegetable broth or was ok with the traditional beef broth. - Price. Reasonably priced. The summer rolls $5.50 and my pho was a little under $11. Not bad, especially given the quality and portions of a meal. - They have hoagies on their menu! For those who are not familiar with Vietnamese food, they don't actually have local hoagies (ie: American sub sandwiches). However, their menu calls them hoagies, because that's what the locals will understand. These are actually Vietnamese sandwiches, called Banh Mi. I like their attempt at trying to ingratiate themselves with local cultures. What's Not - They have Thai food on their menu? I guess it kind of makes sense, given the area. I've found that most Asian restaurants are rarely one type of Asian cuisine. They usually throw in some other Asian food on their menu as a catch all. Finally! A decent Vietnamese restaurant comes to Chester County. This place just opened and is legit. Unlike the other area Vietnamese restaurants which I avoid, the pho here is flavorful and can hold its own against the pho houses in Philadelphia. As expected prices are higher than Philadelphia, but I will gladly pay the "convenience tax" and not drive all the way down to Washington Ave. I haven't yet had a chance to try the other items on the menu but they have all the standard Viet dishes. 5 star rating is based solely on food. Service is not the best...yet. This is a new restaurant and they are slightly disorganized and seemed a little overwhelmed. Expect to ask for water refills. I hope this place survives as I'm not sure the local community will give it the business it deserves. Outstanding service and food. My husband and I were excited to see that there is a new restaurant in town - there have been many improvements in Thorndale and this is one of them for sure! A must visit if you're in town. Authentic Vietnamese flavors and a large menu to choose from. The dishes are beautifully plated and portions are plentiful. My boyfriend and I came to this restaurant for a lunch date, after coming here multiple times we enjoy the food but their customer service is absolutely terrible. The man at the register seemed bothered with us the entire time and we noticed how other people walked in and were treated completely better than we were which was very disrespectful and disappointing. I've been looking for a pho place near WC to share with my mom. My favorite spot at home in NJ is a family owned pho spot and she always says she wants to try. Pho Now was a fun stop on a girls shopping day. We had a classic bahn mi "hoagie" -- love the Philly/Vietnam blend -- and it was absolutely delicious. The baguette was so fresh and crispy! My mom had a curry, I had pho with grilled pork chop, and my aunt had spicy beef. Also the Vietnamese iced coffee. Everything was delicious! I ordered a beef pho and bubble tea to-go due to COVID. The pho was excellent. The broth was great and the brisket was well done. However, the bubble tea was quite honestly one of the worst I've ever had. I ordered the green tea flavor and the flavor was fine... it was the tapioca pearls that made it almost undrinkable for me. Anyone who's made bubble tea or works in a restaurant that serves bubble tea knows that tapioca pearls have a very short lifespan of 4 hours max. After that timeframe, they become somewhat stale and lose all of their chewiness - what makes drinking bubble tea so fun. These bubbles seemed as if they had been out for an entire day. I could not even chew or swallow one of them. To pay $5.50 for a drink that isn't at all what I ordered was disappointing. Again, the pho was great and I understand that pho is this place's specialty.
