Very good general tso chicken. Not too sweet. Not too much sauce. Chicken with broccoli is good too. Black pepper chicken is ok. Different than what I get from the Midwest Bourbon chicken is dry, and the chicken chunks are cut a bit too big for my taste. I asked for combination platters but without the egg roll. Stopped in for some quick takeaway and service was solid. This is your standard American Chinese quick spot, people were coming and going while I was there so definitely seems popular. I felt it was above average with flavor and more vegetables than usual but otherwise it's exactly what you expect. When I worked in West Chester until 2013 I used to frequent the Chinese place hot wok by the exton mall. I hadn't been there since like 2013. Ever since I've been back to area (2 years) I've wondered if they were still in business. Today I was finally back in the vicinity of Hot Wok. As soon as I walked in, she remembered who I was! Now that's attention to regular customers. She said I look the "same". I guess that could be good or bad. I thought my General Tso not only tasted delicious, but it was pretty as a picture so I was inspired to write this review. This place is mostly take out, but I ate in since I live 40 minutes away. I have been a loyal customer for 4 years because the service and food are consistently excellent - even the chefs are cordial. Picked up takeout from here a few days ago. I had never tried them before but my significant other wanted egg foo yung. Overall I would say they did ok for what I call cheap Chinese. This place is takeout only and is piled high with boxes of supplies. I liked the egg rolls. They were crispy and the fry oil was definitely fresh. The inside is what you typically get. Dumplings were also ok. The sauce was plentiful which we are finding is not the case in many places. We would order both of these things again. The General Tso's chicken had a taste of ketchup which was a bit off-putting but the order was plentiful and included the requisite few spring of broccoli. The egg foo yung was also ok. Also a big portion The only fail here was the pork lo mein which was bland and needed more time in the wok to get that fry in the noodles. The order taker on the phone was genuinely pleasant as was the woman who checked me out. I would give them another try but I can't say it's my go-to place. I would give the 3.5 stars but I rated them four as I give them the benefit of the doubt that it was just a bad day for them. read more

I just ordered a Bourbon Chx & a Qt of wonton and they delivered to downingtown in 26 minutes, piping hot. The delivery driver was ecstatic to deliver his careful presentation; A kind soul. The Bourbon Chicken tastes like they're using Woodford Reserve and Vermont AA Maple syrup. I'm confidant the Wonton recipe must be a matter of great pride for the entire extended family. The sesame chicken was clearly cooked in the same oil as the seafood, terrifying for anyone with allergies. I hate the taste of seafood, so my food is inedible! I work in the same shopping center as this place so I order it rather often. Never have anything bad to say about the food. Today I got my chicken and rice and the rice was very obviously old and the chicken had the consistency of being in an oven for 8 hours. I walk over, after taking 3 bites of the food, and just ask to exchange it for something different and tell them my issues. Immediately she opens it and goes "you ate half of it" and starts borderline arguing with me. I've worked in the food industry for 10 years plus so in order for me to bring something back or even complain takes a lot, it has to be almost not edible. She shouts back for them to make me a chicken and broccoli and then continues telling me I'm wrong and I shouldn't of eaten half. Great food, great prices. I recently had an experience here and there was a mistake in the order, but they made it right. They let us keep the wrong order that we had taken home. In addition, they drove 30 minutes to deliver the correct order to our house free of charge. They messed up, and they made it right- and more. Time and time again, they have gone above and beyond. If you are willing to wait 5 minutes, you can get a lunch special consisting of beef with broccoli, fried rice, and an egg roll for about the same price as a big mac meal from McDonalds. In my book, there is no competition. This is hands down the best bang for your buck Chinese food not just in the area, but out of all of the places i have been.
