Nice little place that has a good selection of donuts and some pretty good pho. I'm originally from the bay area and eating the pho dac biet is my favorite pastime. The #1 here is good sized, but for me the thing that shines most is the tendon. It's in slices rather than little clumps and that makes it fantastic. If you order extra meat, they put in a lot extra, more than I was used to. Great place, only Vietnamese cuisine place I've been with a soda fountain offering free refills. Visiting from out of town, the hotel told us about this place when we asked where we could get a Pho soup. We came because we were intrigued by the idea of a Noodle place that also had donuts. Big menu, lots of choices and filled with regulars. Pho was hot and tasty, and yes...we got donuts on our way out and brought some back for the desk clerk at the hotel with a menu. MMMMmm, the smell of bleach as they mop under the tables in the middle of your meal. The grilled pork vermicelli was substandard (tough, salty, fish sauce too fishy, no fresh herbs) and the green beans in garlic sauce were greasy and over salted. We moved here from Austin 4 years ago so we weren't used to all this *#@! sushi and certainly not pho. But I know what I find tasty (which is NOT sushi), and I found this place DELIGHTFUL. Especially in the barren landscape of franchise restaurants in South Reno. I find 'Pho Noodle' to be reasonably priced, with nice portions, and pretty darn good for the price. As a benchmark, I find the quality exactly the same as the other pho restaurant over by Target on S. Virginia. Which I totally dig, TOO! I ordered the bun bo hue. Didn't take too long but wasn't very fast either. The meat tasted kinda old and with a refrigerator smell. Their bean sprouts were old/discolored, limes were dry. My daughter and I stopped in for some lunch after some shopping in south Reno. She'd eaten there before and said it was pretty good. We walked in and the lady at the counter asked if it was for here or to go. We said here and were seated. My first impression was that the place was worn, but I can live with that. I went to the rest room to wash my hands and got a better look at things. The bathroom was dirty. Not toilet paper on the floor dirty, like floors and walls are filthy. When I exited, I started looking around a bit more, and it doesn't appear this place has had a good cleaning in a really long time. Since my daughter recommended it, I said nothing. Then she went to the restroom and saw how dirty it was. When she came back I could tell she saw what I saw and was embarrassed at having brought us there. Anyway, we'd already ordered so we were committed. Our food arrived and my disappointment grew. I'd gotten the chicken pho and added extra vegies for $2 more. There were a few pieces of broccoli, some carrots, baby corn, and mushrooms. It was weak even without the ordered extra vegies. There was plenty of tender chicken, and the broth was very flavorful. The noodles were tender and their were plenty of them. The plate of extras, bean sprouts, jalapenos, and limes was missing the basil without explanation. I am wondering if a produce order didn't show up. Looking at the photos online, my bowl came up short. When coupled with the lack of cleaning, I won't go back. Donuts and Pho at the same place? Yes please! It's such an odd combination, but I was happy with both my donut and my Pho. We ordered take out. I ordered the #20 and my husband order the #1. While we waited for our food we each ate a glazed donut. The donuts were probably from the morning, but they were still soft and tasty! We didn't wait very long for our order, which was nice. We were on vacation last week and stopped by here after checking into our hotel nearby. We saw the low scores on Yelp but decided to try this place as it was slim pickings in the area and we were hungry. When we pulled up into the parking lot, we paused as we saw the sign said 'Pho and Donuts'. We thought this was a strange combination at first, but I remembered that in the bay area most of the donut shops are owned by Cambodians or Laotians. Wife and I looked at each other with hesitation but decided to go in anyway. The Food: We ordered two bowls of pho, Singapore noodles and Chow Fun combination with black bean sauce. The pho was not very good. The broth tasted like Lipton onion soup mix was added for the base flavor. The noodles were okay and the meat was okay. On the other hand, the Singapore noodles and chow fun were both fantastic. We noticed that they had an extensive menu with mostly Chinese options. It would make more sense if they changed their name to a Chinese restaurant as it seems this is their forte. My kids had donuts to go. Tried this place as it was close to the hotel and saw it driving by at night. Did not notice it was a prominent donut shop until I came in during the day time. Price appears typical for this part of town geared for tourists. Ordered the benchmark #3 large pho tai hoping the extra cost over the other choices would be worth it. The order was a little slow as the waitress did not understand Vietnamese and verifying in English would be via pointing and repeating the number of the specific item. A bit odd that water is billed bottled water... A bit of a let down when the bowl came not piping hot and meager thin slices of beef on top. Veggies were disappointing sparse in the herbs department. Broth was severely lacking in any distinct meat flavor or hints of star anise. Noodle was the only ample portion in the roundup but suffered due to the tepid broth temperature. My colleague had the chicken dish and it came with dinner sized portion and adequate seasonings. Looking around, most people seem to be wolfing down full portions of rice or noodle dishes with gusto. I guess the shop is having a severe identity crisis. The donuts are run of the mill offering with zero French bakery influence and the lobotomized "signature" pho pale significantly next to the Chinese offerings. 1 star for impersonating a pho shop. 3 stars for hiding a Chinese food place here. Don't pre-order food and expect to get it on time! Me and my IGT friends went there on our 30 mins lunch, called 30 mins ahead of time and they did not start making our food until we got there. What is the point of ordering ahead of time?! Last week the lady said we could order ahead of time so that we wouldn't have to wait. One of my co-workers didn't even get to receive his food that he paid for!! After we all paid two people walked in, paid, and walked out with here food in hand with no wait time. Based on a called in, take-out order. Took us a while to decide to try this place out. It is also a donut shop! Really enjoyed the food! Ordered the fresh spring rolls! Very fresh indeed and the peanut sauce was delish - not runny like some other places. Also had the #9 pho ga. Very good - chicken breast was moist, tender, and not grizzly. This place sells donuts and vietnamese and chinese food. Definitely diversified. Service was quick and friendly. My pho was tasty and I definitely had plenty to eat. I was disappointed in how fatty the beef was. My egg rolls were okay. The sweet and sour sauce looked so completely bright pink that I was afraid to eat it. Overall, it was a positive experience, but I wouldn't be in a rush to retun, unless maybe it was for a donut. I didn't eat any, but they looked yummy. read more

Pho Noodle gave me my absolute WORST pho experience. The Vietnamese restaurants in Reno are known for having tasty, savory soups that load up on meat and noodle. Pho Noodle gave me the exact opposite. The soup was bland and flavorless. The worst part was the meatballs, which had a soapy, alkaline taste to them. The waitress was kind enough, but the guy at the counter couldn't care less about the people he was supposed to greet and make comfortable. During the entire time I was in the restaurant, instead of having ambient music playing, all I could hear was the high-pitched voices of the children's cartoon on the TV. Now, it's bad courtesy to have cartoons playing on the restaurant TV in the first place, and ALSO bad courtesy to have the volume past "barely audible", so WHY would you be showing a cartoon at a volume so loud that I can't even hear myself think? That's unacceptable. Just a fair warning, if you've got a hankering for pho, DO NOT COME HERE. The food is bad, the service is lukewarm, and the people behind the establishment (most likely family-owned) seem to have no clue what makes a successful business. read more

This place used to be good, maybe they treat customers different, but 3xs already (three) I go and order just orange chicken and they usually give it with steamed rice (a lot of it)complimentary they've been giving me like a super small amount, and the last three times I've been given burnt chicken like this can't even be chewed! This place serves consistently large portions and the quality is pretty great. Lunch combos are good and leave you more than satisfied. Not as authentic as Pho777 down town, but if you live down south and want to avoid the mess of traffic up north, this is a great alternative! I tried this place for the first time a couple days ago. Just walking in I almost turned around to leave, it is filthy. The glass display of doughnuts could not have been cleaned inside or out anytime recently. The table I sat at was dirty, the caddy with spoons & straws dirty, the bottles of sauces filthy, the ceramic soup spoons only 3 of them in the caddy were all dirty - I cleaned one with my napkin to use, the fork is so coated with crud i couldnt even shine it up using my napkin dipped in water! I was really afraid to actually eat but I was hungry and it was lunch time when all food places are packed and I was on a limited time schedule. After being seated I ordered my drink, I waited about 15 mins with no drink and finally was able to place my order and get my drink. Food took about 25 mins to come out and it was just warm, ordered Kung Pao Chicken. Flavor was fair but I was still uneasy about using the fork to eat. Where I sat I could see the backside of the doughnut display. There is no closure to the back so doughnuts are left to dry in the air which is right by the door (not to mention what would happen if a fly or two came in), under the display it is messy storage of various small things, boxes, a rag, containers, etc. The food is just average and I will never go back. Ive had food poisoning before and this place is just waiting for a victim. I would love to know when the last health inspection was done. read more

Worst Pho ever. I got a take out order of Pho Ga (chicken). The broth was almost clear and bland. When I poured the "broth" on the noodles, they wouldn't un-clump and as I tried to stir them up, the noodles just broke apart into little pieces. The chicken had a strange artificial texture. Strange little place serving pho and full Chinese menu and donut shop. Food is good with big portions and very reasonable price. You need to try any pho with their spicy lemongrass broth. It's the best. Chicken and asparagus, lemongrass beef, spicy eggplant and chow fun are all good. I've seen a lot of dishes being served to other tables I've not tried yet but look delicious. I went here for the first time today. This place is in the same location as Donut Bistro. They still have donuts!! Let me be the first point out that their Chinese food is good, but the Vietnamese food needs a lot of work. I ordered #15 (bun thit heo nuong cha gio) which translated to flamed broiled pork with imperial rolls over a bed a vermicelli noodles. At first presentation, the bowl was too small, there was only one egg roll and there was barley any pork. The sauce that comes with dish also was too sour. The only thing there was a lot of was the noodles. On the other hand, my friend had the # 28 Chow fun. I had a sample of his plate and was pretty tasty. My other friend had the Pho and he liked it. As for me, I'm going to have to give this place a 2 for my dish. My recommendation is to stick to Chinese food here and stay away from the Vietnamese dishes. Hope you have better luck. read more

My husband and I ate the Chinese food here and LOVED it! I have tried almost every Chinese place in town, but haven't found one that I really enjoy until this one. I was a little hesitant to try it based on previous reviews, but since the not-so-great reviews were focused on the Pho and not the Chinese food, and it was close to home, I thought we'd try it. We went on a Wednesday, at lunch, and while it was super busy, they seated us and served us food really quickly. We had the vegetable chow mein and lunch special of hot & sour soup, sweet & sour chicken, crab rangoons, and fried rice. The chow mein was FANTASTIC - all the veggies were super fresh and it was seasoned to perfection without being super greasy - two HUGE thumbs up! I really didn't like the soup, but I kind of knew I wouldn't from the beginning (I don't like soup in general) - it wasn't bad...I would eat it if I was really hungry, which is really saying something. The fried rice had scrambled eggs in it (which was a little different, for me at least) - it was good, but needed a little more seasoning. The sweet and sour chicken was GREAT - really good chicken - I would definitely get this again. Really great portions for the prices...we were STUFFED after leaving. We discovered this little place because we live in the area. It has become our favorite little neighborhood restaurant. Especially love the Singapore street noodles! We have had a variety of different dishes there and all of them are tasty, including the pho. Haven't had the donuts, but they look very tempting. Service is always good and friendly. My wife and I have eaten here a number of times and consistently find the food here just fine. It is not high end cuisine but rather a small operation that offers the eclectic mix of pho and doughnuts. You will find better but nothing here offends. OK, haven't had the Pho here, I usually order the Singapore Street Noodles, and absolutely love them! They come with a variety of meats and seafood. The big payoff for me is that the dish is gluten free without any special requests, and the portion is so large my husband and I usually split one entree. We've been stopping in for about a year, we usually eat in if we are shopping on a Saturday (lunch), but more often I call an order in and pick it up. The staff is friendly and quick - my takeout order is usually ready in 10 minutes or less. read more
