There are so many good Vietnamese restaurants in NoVA that is a crime to be so far below average!! I have no idea how they have sustained their high ratings. It is extra disappointing to go there seeing all their awards and ratings to be met with very poor service, unwarranted delayed steps between apps, mains, dessert, check! The broth of the pho had some kind of rancid /old food taste like you get when the wok/pot has not been washed properly after multiple uses. The fried rice and pad Thai lacked flavor and had an odd taste. The apps were alright. The banh mi was passable but got us feeling bloated within couple bites. Cost of everything was quite low, so may that is a plus for some. Further, when I tried sharing the feedback respectfully - after the waiter wondered why we had barely eaten and refused to go boxes- I was told to write this review online - which itself was weird. It's like the staff want to sabotage the customer experience or highlight the experience for the owner to take note. My best guess is the owner doesn't treat/pay his staff well and they are likely very checked out and doing the bare minimum or below it. The place was a mess also behind the counter, on the way to the restroom etc. with no deliberate storage of the overflow supplies. Great Vietnamese food here I got a spicy beef noodle soup and summer rolls. The soup was fantastic well balanced and had great flavor. The beef was tender and broth was perfectly balanced with savoriness and spice. The summer rolls tasted fresh and had great flavor. Coffee came out in about 5 mins and tasted quite good, but surprisingly it didn't give me a usually good caffeine high compared to other viet coffee for some reason. I barely felt any. But that sea salt foam was delicious! The pho was a sweeter broth which I'm not a personal fan of (I prefer a savory broth) meat was good. We were sad to discover that our go-to spot for pho, Pho 75 Dulles, had closed. My husband set out to find another spot for good pho. He came across Pho-nomenal and saw it had good reviews. So, we gave it a try. We were here for an early dinner on a Saturday. The place wasn't bustling at the time, but it still took the server quite a while to come and take our order. Thankfully, my husband noticed that when ordering Pho Ga here, you have to specify whether you want white or dark meat chicken. Pho Ga is my favorite way to order pho, and I like to have white meat. So, I ordered a bowl. My husband likes shrimp in his pho, so that's what he ordered. He also ordered a glass of ginger ale while stuck with water. Once we placed our order, we had a longish wait for the food. We noticed that they do a brisk takeout business. That explains the long wait. As for the pho, it comes in one size: a large bowl. We thought that they could have given us more aromatics. When we got home, it was then that I realized just how salty the pho was. I ended up guzzling water. When it was time to pay the bill, the server took a while to bring it. My husband thought that they were understaffed. Wouldn't say the food is "pho-nomenal", but service was quick. Pho and grilled sausage spring rolls were alright. Vermicelli special bowl was forgettable-sauce was just sweet and not much flavor. Nice the bowl had a lot of meat. Mango matcha cloud drink with boba was good but the "25%" sweetness was still too sweet. I came in once just to grab boba because I was craving some taro milk tea. It wasn't a long wait to get my drink, even though they had a full house and a lot of people coming in and out for mobile and takeaway orders. The service was quick and good. The staff were polite and efficient. The dining area was clean and organized even though they did have a full house. The taro milk tea was pretty good. The only thing I was disappointed about was the amount of ice in it. It was pretty much a whole cup of ice, so by the time I got back to my car, my drink was actually more than halfway gone. Otherwise, it tasted really good. I haven't tried their pho, which people seem to really love. Sadly, this place has gone downhill. I generally just get a bowl of pho. I noticed the price had gone up yet again. Almost $18 for a bowl. Price has increased a lot in the past three years. A friend had introduced me to the rice vermicelli with egg roll, and grilled lemongrass pork from this Pho-nomenal restarurant in Ashburn. She would order this for lunch through GrubHub when I visit her at her place and she does not want to cook. The lunch plate portion is big, and everything on the plate is delicious! Grilled pork is well seasoned, eggroll is a good size and crispy, and the rice vermicelli well cooked but not mushy. I also love the salad that comes with my order and some sort of vinegrette dressing that came with it. I have had this same meal 3 times thru takeout and love it! Overall, the takeout order from this Pho-nomenal in Ashburn delivered thru GrubHub is very good, though GH delivery service was slow and often delayed. Stopped in for dinner prior to seeing a movie at the local Alamo Drafthouse. The staff were amiable enough, not overtly friendly, but courteous and patient, and sat me immediately. The dining room is rather plain in appearance, though it was quite clean. (I don't usually factor this in to my ratings unless it is unsightly, which certainly was not!) Ordered the gói cuôn (summer rolls) and phó ga (chicken phó). The summer rolls were decent; not super fresh or flavorful, but with a decent texture and portion for the price, and with a delectable peanut sauce including crushed peanuts.The phó was quite flavorful, savory and hearty with nice portions of chicken, onion and herbs, though I would have appreciated some more scallions. The meal was served with Thai basil, a lemon wedge and bean sprouts (unfortunately a bit too bitter, which tells me they weren't super fresh either), which were a welcome accoutrement. Overall, a solid experience for a local phó eatery; would mostly recommend trying to source fresher veggies if at all possible. read more

Ordered pork/shrimp summer rolls and grilled pork/spring roll vermicelli; it was all pretty good but I thought the meat could have had more char on it. Also, it came in a square takeout container w/ 3 dividers which makes it hard to mix everything together and pour on the fish sauce. So I've been here x2 now and I ate in the 1st time and did Togo my 2nd time. The 1st time, I got Beef Pho, shrimp rolls, and with a Mango Lemonade. The Pho was great! I loved it! I went during lunch so it was busy. But I was sat right away. The service was very attentive and the food came quick. The lemonade was decent. They have a wide variety menu and they have a light up board that showcases all their drinks. On my 2nd visit I got Beef Pho and the Honey Lavender Limeade! This limeade was a 10/10. I definitely enjoyed this one more than the Mango Lemonade. The Togo Pho came with the broth separate and all the noodles and fixings in a bowl. This is the first Togo Pho I've had where they actually give you a bowl to eat it out of out instead of that big white container. Even Togo the Pho was still very enjoyable. Great food, drinks and service! The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious and quick. We ordered two lavender limeade drinks, spring rolls with shrimp, pho and bun bo hue. The lychee lavender limeade came with popping bubbles at the bottom. The honey lavender limeade didn't come with any toppings, and was a little sweeter than the lychee drink. The summer rolls were pretty comparable to other pho restaurants. The pho bo vien (meatball) was decently portioned as well. I probably would've like a little more noodles, but it had a good amount of meatballs. The bun bo hue was also pretty spicy. I love this place. They not lying when they say they're PHOnomenal, they really are. I've been ordering their pho for two years now and I'm never disappointed, ever. The broth is so aromatic and doesn't have a strong beefy smell like some places I've been to in the area. I will say that they are such a cheerful and generous staff--very LoCo, and words can't describe how grateful I am! So thank you! While waiting, I got their mango matcha. That was the creamiest drink I ever had. Good matcha taste and it contrasts well with the mango! Such a sweet treat, and a very reasonable price for boba (especially for this area). The smell of pho broth wafted in the air and I overheard the other patrons in the restaurant noting how good and fragrant the pho broth was. I like the calamari even for $18.99 because it was freshly cut and tender, which gave off the freshness of the sea taste and the light batter was delightfully tasty! As for the Pho, it was bland and just did not taste right for me even with all the ingredients in them did not work. In fact, the red onions actually worked against the soup and left a sticky unpleasant taste to my mouth I can't describe...for this reason alone I would have given them 1 star. Really, the calamari was the star (5 stars) and only redeeming quality during this visit. Inside decor did not compliment the high end location this place was. I mean, one loudoun being number 1 per capita in the nation, deserves better aesthetics. It's as if, the old furnishing was brought over from some run down place to this stall--it was repulsive! Being the pho connoisseur I am I just knew I had to give this place a try. There is a big garage with free parking so no issue there. Upon entering we were seated and the interior is very modern & clean. For appetizer, I had the summer roll with shrimp and for my entree I ordered the pho tai. For my drinks I did have the mango slush with lychee jelly. The summer roll was good and when dip into the peanut sauce the flavor was very delicious. For the pho you can always tell if it good and authentically made by a Vietnamese person is by the taste of the broth. My broth was on the lighter side and not stronger as I usually prefer but it still tasted good. I feel like for the price of around 16 dollar for a bowl of pho I wish I had a bit more in the portion size. Lastly, the mango slush was very good and would highly recommend anyone to try it. We've been trying for a while to find good, reasonably-priced pho in the area and I'm disappointed to say that we have yet to find such a place. We came here after I got back from a trip and just wanted a quick, comforting meal after traveling. Our host/server couldn't have cared less about us and just wordlessly sat us down and then proceeded to stand in a corner with his arms folded, watching to see when we were ready to order. Needless to say, I felt uncomfortable and rushed to make a decision. Not only was the food pricey, but the pho broth was bland. My boyfriend and I got the Shrimp Spring Rolls which weren't wrapped the best but still tasty, the Grilled Pork Banh Mi which my boyfriend enjoyed, and the Vermicelli Bowl with Grilled Chicken and Egg Roll which was very refreshing and delicious especially for a hot summer day when you're not feeling soup.
