I came here twice during COVID times and finally decided to do a review . Ordered: XL house special pho and chicken / pork vermicelli with spring rolls Price- tad more expensive than regular pho places . Both were close to $12 each Size - portion was smaller than regular pho places especially the pho. The extra large felt like a regular sized . Also less meat .. Taste - more bland than regular pho places . The pho had to be the most bland soup I've ever tasted . Vermicelli was ok , tad more bland than what I'm use to but I didn't mind it Final comments - the thing that I really didn't like was they didn't give us any fresh herbs for the pho . It tasted almost like chicken soup with a tad bit beef flavor The first time I thought they must have forgotten it but same thing second time ! Also no peanuts on the vermicelli...and no tendons in our special pho O.o read more

I normally go to the Scarborough location it's really good. But I moved to Ajax and saw they had a location closer and have tried it now 3-4 times and it's always the same issue: This location has the flavour but they rip you off. I got 2 oz of beef in a large... Scarborough gives you 6 oz. I'm litterally eating a plain soup. Lol The flavours are their the portions are not. This location is 13 mins from my house while the other location is 24 I'd rather the extra 10 minutes to get proper pho than waste my money hear. It sucks to leave a bad reviews during a pandemic but it is what it is. Don't rip off customers. I'll just continue going to the Scarborough location read more

Serving size is large. Should have ordered two mains for three people. The third order was pretty much untouched. Red bean smoothie is ok. It contains dairy. Next time I will order the Vietnamese three coloured ice! Flavour is authentic. Most of times I leave pho places feeling super thirsty after, but I feel totally ok after the meal. Maybe it's because I ordered red bean smoothie? Unlike most Vietnamese places I'm Toronto, There is no Chinese menu. Waitress speaks some mandarin. read more

We stopped in for quick lunch on our way back from skiing. Located 5-10 min off 401, this location was way more convenient that its Ajax location. There were some mixed reviews regarding the quality of the food so I wasn't expecting anything spectacular but I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered curry brisket noodle soup, vegetarian pho and a rice dish with grilled pork chop with fried egg. Both the curry brisket noodle soup and vegetarian pho had lighter tasting broth but still flavourful. The curry brisket had soft chunks of brisket with rice noodles in a lighter yellow curry broth. My vegetarian pho came with lots of blanched veggies (your usual kind of broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, carrots...) and was very satisfying. The grilled pork chop dish was thoroughly enjoyed by my 6 yr old. In my humble opinion, the food here is way better than its Ajax cousin. I guess different owners do make for more food-centric experience. I'm glad to add one more Pho joint to my list in Durham region. read more

First off, I would like to say I try not to leave poor reviews, but this one of the worst "viet" restaurants I've been to before. I had high hopes of it being great since the Pho Metro locations in Toronto and Vaughn are amazing. As soon as I entered into the restaurant, I saw that the owner(?) was storing their BMW X6 summer tires in the dining area. Wot??? Atleast cover them up or put them in a corner. Wtf... We ordered Shrimp fresh rolls, mango salad, pho, vermicelli, avocado shake and che ba mau. The shrimp fresh rolls were very girthy (that's what she said) and filled with ALOT of noodles. The ends were not closed up so it didn't look as traditional to me. The sauce wasn't the best, it tasted like diluted hoisin sauce. 6/10 The mango salad came and it had a weird stinky smell. It tasted alright and more sweeter than usual. 6/10 The Pho broth tasted very bland and the noodles were pretty thick. I'm more used to a bit thinner noodles. This wasn't my dish so I didn't try much of it. 4/10 Last but not least, my go to Vermicelli w/ fried spring roll, grilled pork and shrimp. The fried spring roll and the meat were soggy and not crispy at all. I'm 99% sure they reheated everything in the microwave since I heard beeping noises beforehand. The vermicelli noodles had a weird taste to them, almost as if it was made before and just reheated up. The nuoc mam wasn't sweet enough for me and more on the salty side. One of the worst dishes I've had. I had high hopes since the other locations made this dish sooo well. 3/10 The avocado shake was decent. Less avocado tasting than usual but acceptable. 7/10 Che ba mau? More like Che hai mau. They put literally a teaspoon of congealed coconut cream in it. Having driven by this place on numerous occasions I was eager to try it out. I love all kinds of foods from Asia especially Thai & Vietnamese. This use to be an older fish & chips place. Decor 2/5 Besides the outside of the restaurant, no other renovations were done. It has no Asian feel to it, in fact it looks very much like the fish & chips place that use to be there before. The decor was dated and bland. Service 4/5 Two young girls were serving us, and overall they were good. Had to ask a few times for water, cutlery etc, but they were pleasant and the food came fast. Food 3/5 The food was okay. I order the house special that came with rice, beef, pork & chicken. Also ordered a mango salad and some rice roll beef appetizer. The food was bland, really no flavour. At a place like this we normally would have opted for the Pho Soup but wanted to try something different. Overall it was okay, but not enough for me to want to come back. I give this place a 3.90 rating. We came here on a weeknight. We ordered pho with rare beef and beef ball, H4 which is a hue style noodle soup that most viets know is better than a bowl of pho and a vermicelli with spring roll and grilled chicken. First impressions: the portion sizes are generous. As you can see from my pic, the bowl of pho had large quantities of noodles, beef and beef balls. Every spoonful I took had at least some meat. A+ for this. The Hue noodle soup wasn't the best we've had. Skip this one in my opinion. The vermicelli was a large portion with lots of meat, veggies and an oily spring roll. Place was clean. Probably the second best Viet restaurant in Durham region right now. Yes I'm Viet if that matters. read more

Pho Metro - Pho with rare beef and beef ball. - Vietnamese Near Me - Whitby, Ontario

Ordered for takeout and got the B3 (Bun with spring rolls and grilled pork) and P9 (pho with raw beef and brisket) and was really impressed with how everything was packaged and how great it tasted. Service was also great, called in our order and was ready in 10 mins. Of course, with all establishments these days, you are required to wear a mask when entering. Now for the food, the pho had the noodles and brisket packaged in one container, the raw beef wrapped separately and the broth in a container on its own. This was great since during the trip home, the broth had cooled enough that it wouldnt be able to cook the raw beef. I'd recommend putting all the pho ingredients in a bowl except for the broth, reheat the broth in a pot and then pour the piping hot broth all over the pho ingredients right before eating. The bun was also pretty good, with everything arranged and the fish sauce in a separate container. Noodles were cooked perfectly, although i found the pork here to be saltier than other bun meals from other vietnamese restaurants. This may just be personal preference. I can really imagine this will be our go to place for take out pho in the cooler months though. Pretty satisfied! I can confirm the review of Anahita D. We are also a loyal customer of Metro Pho, mainly the Scarborough location. We moved in Pickering and decided to try the Metro Pho Whitby location. We ordered two P3, one large and one medium. The amount of meat for both is very disappointing. It looks like the amount for both is for one small P3, we are not even exaggerating. Called the restaurant and notify them about my experience. They told me that they follow the portioning of Scarborough location. "Thank you for letting me know, I will check with our kitchen" They did not offer any correction to the issue. Sorry but I have been going to Scarborough location for 6 years, I know their portioning is not the same as this location I will rather drive extra minutes rather than waste my $$ read more

Ordered from Pho Metro's Whitby location recently and my experience was very similar to Anahita and Jomar's. The amount of meat that comes with pho orders is way below average so you end up with mostly just noodles and broth. I will also be skipping this location going forward. read more

Loved typical pho then I tried their curry beef brisket pho .. well oh my I can't get enough of it!! I get mine with clear sweet potato noodles instead of rice noodles because I love the chew of those noodles! Very clean and sanitized restaurant, very friendly staff and owner. Pho Metro is my favourite Pho restaurant in Whitby. They have the usual pho but also their own creations like Curry Brisket Pho with rice noodles, and Beef Stew Pho with clear noodles. Authentic flavours, generous servings and reasonable price. This restaurant opened near our house recently. I was very excited as there are few Vietnamese restaurants in Durham region. Luckily we were not disappointed. We ordered the rare beef and brisket noodle soup. The soup was served piping hot featuring lightly spiced beef broth with generous portions of thinly sliced deliciously tender rare beef, tasty cooked beef brisket and a mountain of vermicelli noodles. Topped with bean sprouts, green onions, fresh basil, lime to squeeze on top and a very tasty spicy dipping sauce it was a meal fit for a king. We were pleasantly surprised as we only eat this kind of soup whenever we go to Toronto. The flavors and quality are on par with the restaurants on Spadina Avenue. Now we have the same quality but right here in Whitby! Will definitely return again to try other items on the menu! read more

I am a Chinese Vietnamese Canadian and I'd say their broth is pretty good! Especially for a suburban area! The dishes are fresh and the service is fantastic. Ordered on Ubereats and went in. The only thing I can say is that the soup needs to be hotter. I don't mind reheating the soup when ordering out but when eating in, the broth needs to be hotter (Esp to cook my rare beef). By the time the food came, the soup was warm. I usually like to drink all my soup but I couldn't do it this time because it was becoming warmish-cold, and half my beef wasn't cooking anymore ( which made it chewy). We are regular customers of the chain, particularly the Ajax location. Whitby is closer to home so we go there only when we don't want a beer with our dinner as they seem to be having trouble with their license. Tonight was VERY disappointing in terms of service. We ordered our usual pho tai and a mango salad. Salad arrived and you could smell it right away - so drenched in fish sauce and sesame oil it was unpleasant. No balance to the dressing. No acid, no sweetness, just the overpowering umami taste and dirty smell of fish sauce. I sent it back. Owner came out to our table with the salad in his hand demanding to know the problem. He had been serving it for nine months and never a complaint. Unpleasant and confrontational. I was very clear. It wasn't good and I didn't want it. When we got the bill, we were still charged for the salad. I told the owner that I was not paying for it. He just stared at me. I told him two more times I was not going to pay for it. He complained it would come out of his pocket then. After the standoff he took it off our bill but then I had to demand my change (paying in cash) multiple times. Don't buy a restaurant franchise if you don't know how to serve customers. I am not a difficult customer and I can't actually remember ever sending anything back like before. His attitude made the whole experience unforgivable. read more
