Well filled with fresh grilled pork and the full veg inside. I would have liked a bit more "mayo" or better yet real Pate like my visits around Vietnam. This place wasn't bad, just a few small snafus with ettiquitte. I ordered chicken pho soup and chicken spring rolls. The pho was not super rich imo. The spring rolls came out a few minutes after I was eating the pho. I wasn't really hungry for them by the time they came out. They give you a Kirkland water bottle. Not sure if there's an issue with their water or they don't want to wash cups or what. Honestly of all the water bottles they could have given, Kirkland is the best so that was fine, however I usually make my pho really spicy and I like icewater with my meal, so bummer for that. It's perfectly balanced, not too sweet or salty. I was treated differently than the other customers there. They were short with me and avoided eye contact. Other customers were greeted and taken to their seats and given menus and were given water. I wasn't. I came to the counter and asked if I should sit anywhere and later I asked for a menu. I asked for my chicken sandwich without jalapeños but they put them in anyways. They served my girls Pho without any sprouts, mint or lime. When I asked for it, he said it's a kids Pho so it doesn't come with vegetables. I was so confused. I told him kids eat veggies too. He was so annoyed by my request but I just wanted the authentic set up. I asked if they had any other options besides the beef broth, and he said that's the only one they serve. I asked what kind of broth the veggie pho had and he said beef. As far as ambiance, the place needs a renovation. It's outdated and loud tv plays in the background in Vietnamese. The most delicious pho I've had here in Washington, so far. This business is ran by a wonderful group who always greets you as soon as you walk through the door. I've been here over 10 times and I never had to wait to be seated (plenty of seating/tables!). They provide free water bottles as well. Their pho broth is exquisite and is just the perfect comfort food during the cold season. Two things I also recommend from their menu are the pork banh mi and their bbq pork spring rolls! Haven't visit this place for over two years now, so give it a try. Two impressive things: 1) as I was seated, I was given a bottle water. This is nice because I always hesitate about the glasses being used for water as some of them are not very clean. So, I am great full for this. 2) I ordered Vietnamese Iced Coffee and asked for only half sweet and wanted the coffee made fresh. It turned out exactly as I ordered. This is very rare as many places take the short cut by making the coffee in advance and store them in the refrigerator until someone ordered and they take them out and serve them. I hate those because they taste terrible. So, I am very impressed with these two things. I ordered the short ribs with rice. The food was very flavorful, but the meat was so rough and chewy and I could eat them. It was definitely some cheap beef and was very hard to chew. So, the dish was wasted. Secondly, the TV had slimey monsters movie on and it really did not help with my appetite. It would have help with more sales if the TV had food program on. Instead it has slimey monsters. No monosodium glutamate added! You know, that evil additive we all know as M.S.G. I recognized immediately that their chef used to cook for Pho To Chau at the Great Wall Shopping Mall. A conversation about broth and its features revealed that their soup base is concocted from cooking bones anywhere from 8 to 10 hours. HIGHLIGHT: Their Vietnamese beef stew pho (Pho Bo Kho) distinguishes itself from the traditional Viet beef stew with its large honking pieces and a totally different preparation method. If you have ever eaten this at Pho To Chau, it's very similar. At first, I thought the meat was chewy but then I discovered it is about how you eat it to fully enjoy[1]. Here's how I do it: take the big piece of beef, PULL it apart and eat parts of it at one time dipped in the salt/pepper dip. You can create the traditional Vietnamese salt n' pepper dip by combining 1 part salt to 3 parts pepper and squeeze in several lemons in a separate dish. Wow, what a difference this change made! In regards to their regular pho, the broth has enough depth and can compete easily with the surrounding areas. At most pho places, a way to add additional flavor to your pho, if you choose to do this, is ask for "Nuoc Beo". Nuoc Beo is actually a flavoring oil that is saved from the fat that floats to the top as the broth is cooked. Pho Dac Biet was very good. Broth and meat is good too. A must try if your in the area or are looking for pho in the south end. They've been open for about 9 months now and I think it was the owner I spoke to that said he use to be at Pho Bac in Seattle. This place is better than the Pho restaurants in Federal Way and Auburn. Update: The broth is so good that you don't even need lime, plum sauce or shiracha. Nuoc Beo adds that fatty flavor and nice big chunks of onion. Yummy...Everyone in the kitchen wears a hair net, its comforting to know I won't potentially find hair in my food. The BBQ pork spring roll which looked and tasted like grilled pork was really good and flavorful. The peanut sauce was runny but had the right flavor. This place was 10 mins away from my house... Everytime we come here for some reason we always sit on the same table that we always sat at.. We are always greeted with smiles on their faces. Right when we sat they gave us a BOTTLED water NOT TAP water. LOL. Hunbun & I always order the pho #1 with everything in it (steak, brisket, flank, fatty flank, beef ball, tendon, tripe) and a side of egg rolls (comes w/2) so we order for each of us. They have 3 different sizes for the bowls (small, medium, large). Hunbun orders medium and I order small since I don't usually finish the medium. I've updated my review to a five star already, but I felt I had to do it again. I've been going to Pho Mau consistently for a couple of years now, and I've never ever had a negative experience. I've even got my dad as a regular now! The owners are INCREDIBLY kind as well as the rest of the staff. No matter how long it is in between visits, they always remember me and remember the last time I've gone in. The wait staff is also very nice as well. I've gone in countless times for dining in and everything is always delicious, comes piping hot, and quick. I've picked up a LOT too, especially recently (sometimes the baby just makes me crave pho broth!) and they always give me a very generous amount and it's only $3! Perfect for those days you're hungover, sick, orrrr pregnant and just want broth :) They also have amazing teriyaki and chicken katsu. The bubble teas are also always delicious! I haven't strayed too far off of ordering just my favorite pho, because it's just THAT delicious Hands down my favorite pho spot in Washington no matter what other places I try - I've had one other place in Seattle where the pho was just as good, but I've never had the same consistent service anywhere else. I asked for an itemized receipt and the owner I believe, gave me another receipt with different items and wasn't my total. Came here on our way home from a little road trip from Seattle to the Puyallup area, wanting to try a different pho place than we typically try on either end of our journey points, and chose this place in part due to its Yelp rating. Hubs had the flank steak/brisket pho, I had the brisket pho. It wasn't bad, though I felt like I needed to spruce it up with every condiment available, which is one way I gauge how much I like a particular spot (the less sprucing up I need to do, the more highly I rate the place). This place wasn't bad, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to come back, vs trying any number of other options in the greater Seattle-Tacoma corridor. One of the places I go to in the heat, to curl up with a pork banh mi, and a coke. Simple, but just the right amount of coolth that I want. Especially since the tables are made from a synthetic marble-like rock that is always cool to the touch. In my use of stars, I try to show how far out of your way you should go: 5 means nationally; 4 means within the region; 3 means within a city; 2 means down the street; 1 means if you're in front of the door and can't make it anywhere else. Pretty great lil gem near Kent station! My friend lives just up the hill and I was HELLA craving a noodle bowl so I yelped at the stop light they were at haha. I didn't see a menu posted, which usually deters me since I don't know what they have - so I posted one for y'all to enjoy. Came to this restaurant 50 minutes before closing and they were too preoccupied with closing to take care of the four parties that walked in. Other tables tried to flag the waiter down but he said he'd take our order first (we were there first). BUT, didn't come to take our order for 15 minutes! When we tried to order, two of us order soup, and one ordered a beef rice plate but was told that it'd take too long. She then tried to order a vermicelli bowl, but he said that'd also take too long and tried to force her to get a bowl of pho. She declined and opted to just eat spring rolls. When we got the pho, it was bland and tasted like they'd run out of broth and just threw meat and noodles in boiled water. If the only thing your allowing customers to order is soup, at least make it TASTE good! The table that ordered after us, were served two rice plates so we were extremely peeved that we were not allowed to order food we wanted and were forced to order a bowl of bland pho. Especially since there would have been plenty of time, had there been prompt service to begin with. We will not be returning to this establishment. read more

I didn't even know this place existed and I drove by this area every so often. I saw this place through Yelp and it had decent reviews so I decided to drop by. I haven't eaten at the restaurant yet and have only taken my orders out. The decor is a bit outdated but it's quite spacious and clean inside. There's a wide screen TV on the far wall. I came in previously and they had the Oscars on and today was Nancy Reagan's Funeral. The staff is very friendly. I was surprised when I came in and the woman remembered who I was since it has been weeks between my last visit. I was impressed. They seem to be on top of their service. Although I took my order "to-go", I was given a glass of ice water while I waited. I thought it was a nice and unexpected touch. Every so often one of the staff members would come out and let me know that my order will be ready soon. They were quite packed during lunch time. Now to the Food... I'm not big fan of Pho in general but their broth seems to have just the right flavor that I may consider ordering Pho next time I come to dine in. I had ordered Pho with a mix of meats previously for my Beau and he loved it. I had the grilled pork vermicelli and that was delicious. However I found their noodles a bit too overcooked. That didn't deter me from eating away though. Today I had the 3 bean drink, which was not too bad.. and I had ordered their short ribs over rice. The ribs were delicious! The rice was a bit smooshy for my taste. It didn't matter because I don't eat much rice. There was a side salad and soup (broth) included with my meal as well. I was definitely stuffed! The price of their menu items are actually a bit cheaper than other Pho places. That's an added plus! I'll definitely be back here whenever I'm in the area! Can't beat their prices! Thanks Ken L and Mya for the reviews and check-ins. Finally got to Kent and had to try this place out. Wow, beyond pleased and satisfied! The pho broth was hot (that's important), seasoned well and not too salty, nor too much star - anise nor too sweet. Just pure deliciousness. The combo had the steak, fatty flank, tripe, tendon and meatballs. Love that they include meatballs whereas every other pho restaurants charge extra for that. Now, that combo rice place, C01, is just BOMB! Tasty, tasty, tasty. The meat, pork chop, egg and THAT SHRIMP CAKE is so filling and fulfilling. I could eat that every single week for a long time. Too bad I don't live near this restaurant. However, I will find way back here as frequently as possible. Oh, can't forget their fried rolls. One of the best in King county. At least for me it is. Lastly, the customer service here is superb. That male waiter(you know who, the one always smiling) is so friendly and welcoming that you just smile looking at him.
