A friend who's a big Pho fan took me here today, I've never had really good Pho so I can't say I'm a fan in general. I got an egg roll and a big bowl of pho with flank steak. They have quite a number of different selections and many different cuts of meats. It had really good flavor, the noodles were soft and good and the portion was so big I wasn't able to finish it. It was so good I did my best to finish it though! The egg roll was good, crispy on the outside with good flavors and with some kind of sauce you could dip it in. I was in the mood for some pho and because the other restaurant that I was closer to was closed, I chose Pho Mac. It looks like it's in a newer area of Plano, and it is spacious with ample parking around. I was hungry and so there are 3 options for pho bowl sizes, the 20oz, 30oz, and 40oz. My parents always taught me to go for things not too small or little, but not too big due to waste. So the 30oz it was. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in it although the price was pretty reasonable. I felt like I spent an extra $2 for broth, which had flavor, but I've also had better broths elsewhere (I do come from the SF Bay Area). The noodles were kinda gooey, and there was maybe a few pieces of meat (you get 3 choices of meat and I asked for double rare beef and brisket, but I literally only had 6-7 bites with meat in it). First, everything in this restaurant was so incredibly clean! It was delightful! Tables, chairs, booths, sauces (had been wiped down and bottles weren't sticky like some places), baseboards, bathrooms- everything! Second, the owner was the friendliest man ever. He was very attentive and he offered us spot on recommendations on what we might like based on what we were kind of wanting. It's hard to find a good Pho place outside of Garland, so we were glad Pho Mac turned out to be tasty! Pho was flavorful and portion of meat and noodles were perfect. Restaurant was roomy so it was easy to social distance while dining indoors. In my opinion, this is one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Although, their food can be inconsistent. I've had times when the pho broth needed to cook longer. Just the right amount of crispiness, and really good flavor. Had a lot of bean sprouts but would have liked to see more shrimp and pork since I'm a fatty like that. My hubby and I were driving down Preston when we spotted this place! Pho Mac was one of my favorite Pho places when they were at their other Plano location. The food was always good and the family who owned and operated the establishment was friendly and accommodating. We had been visiting that location since about 2011 if not before then. We stopped visiting that location due to the strip mall not being properly managed, which had nothing to do with the owners of Pho Mac. I was saddened to hear that they closed, however, I am delighted that they've moved out of that rundown strip mall and are located in a much nicer, cleaner location. On to the food! The food has always been delicious! The broth is clear and flavorful, and not overly oily. They also offer more vegetarian options such as tofu in the savory crepes and in other dishes. You have to try the Vietnamese crepes here they are perfectly crispy and are served with fresh herbs and veggies. The pork chop rice dishes are also items to try out as well. Bottom line: friendly service, nice decor, great food. I will definitely return. read more

You do not taste any real broth flavor but just seasonings and a lot of salty taste. I'm extremely surprised seeing such high reviews but perhaps most of these are from the folks who don't know real Vietnamese food. Also the veggies provided were not even right for the dishes (bbh had exact same veggies as pho) I would have given 2-3 stars had they not charged me extra for ... a couple pieces of limes. Like wtf? I read that they charge for a lot of extra stuffs but never expected 50 cents for lime. It's not about the money, but it's the principle. My boyfriend and I ordered com from here because we took it home to eat. MEH, I've forreal had better. We ordered our food over the phone and our order didn't come out the way we wanted it. We both order com thit nuong but they gave us come suon nuong. My bf didn't mind it but I did because I'm lazy and I like my meat already cut up instead of on the bone. I also feel like thit nuong always has more flavor than com suon nuong. We also ordered pho broth only because my friend just got jaw surgery so he's on a liquid diet. When we ordered it over the phone the lady said "OK", but when my bf went to pick it up from the restaurant they said that broth can only be ordered dine in. He kinda had a fit about it so they proceeded to give him broth. I don't see what the big deal is.. Com suon nuong (2/5) - the meat didn't have much flavor at all. The rice was really dry. The green onions that normally goes on top of rice didn't look fresh and looked more yellow than green. I normally like sliced pieces of cucumber and they chopped it up into strings here. i was very disappointed last night when hubby & I ordered a bowl of pho brisket and a bowl of chicken eggroll Vermicelli (bun ga cha gio) . The pho is good, not enough meat tho, but the eggroll in the vermicelli bowl tasted a bit sour. We told the waiter, and the store mgr or owner came to our table. We told her about the eggroll so maybe she will take a look before serving it again to another customer. To our disappointment, she argued n justified that she use fresh eggroll each day. Doesn't matter, it could be the TX heat or the batch of meat, that caused it. No matter what, in service business, especially restaurant, you should not argue with the customer. We were not looking for her to take it off our bill, just to acknowledge it. We paid our bill of $30 and left 20% tip for the kids(waiters). Sad, but now we've written them off. read more

Epic fail!!! I wasn't the least bit impressed with Pho Mac. I dined at Pho Mac during dinner hours. The location was clean with plenty of tables available. The restaurant did have a faint order - one of a dirty mop‍ The staff was mediocre as it relates to service. The Pho broth lacked flavor and it was warm almost cold... the flank was absent in the large bowl The spring rolls were okay but the peanut dipping sauce was a miss -the entire meal was disappointing. I also hate the fact the their beverages are pre- poured into cup and store in the refrigerator- the sad part is the cups are only a quarter of the way filled so talk about highway robbery for the price. A Thai tea is almost 4 dollars so I would expect to get a full glass not a quarter full glass with a crap load of ice. read more
