a4 fried egg rolls
Jessica H.

Nice hot bowl of soup to keep warm. The rice noodles were plentiful and cooked normally, so the longer they sit in the broth, they get a little overcooked for my taste. I would try to eat it faster next time. The rare steak and meatballs were both pretty good/standard. Very filling. The fried egg rolls were fine. Nicely crispy. Lots of filling inside. Friendly and fast service.

Visited Pho Lyfe's San Jose location with a friend back in November and really enjoyed it. Their beef pho was excellent. Even the small size was huge and incredibly filling. The broth was rich, flavorful, and comforting, and the portion size definitely did not disappoint. I ordered my rare beef on the side, which let me keep it not overcooked. Adding this review now since the San Jose location has closed, but it was absolutely worth a visit while it was around. If you come across this Pho Lyfe location, it's definitely worth checking out.

This is the best place for pho! oMG! This is a mom and pop pace that cooks delicious and authentic Vietnamese food! I had to find a new pho place since my old one was under new management and the food has gone so down in quality I could not eat there anymore! The ambiance is simple and tried and true. No frills with decoration here! The young man takes your order without writing anything down and gets your order right! The prices are affordable as well! The pho is a beef based broth that is so flavorful and delicious! It is addicting and I usually finish every drop! Their spring rolls are so fresh and tasty! Their Thai iced tea is not overly sweet and has the right amount of cream! I highly recommend you try this spot if you are in the Santa Clara area!

Stopped by this spot after a long day of sourcing without looking anything up. We were nearby and just needed something to eat before heading back into the city. The location is in a plaza with a good-sized parking lot shared with a market and a few other restaurants, so finding a spot was easy. It was a warm day and we were hoping to cool off inside, but it felt stuffy since the air conditioning was not working. The menu is simple and easy to navigate with all the basic dishes. I was happy to see bo bia, one of my favorite fresh rolls. It tasted good, but the portion was small and the dipping sauce was watery and lacking flavor. The rare steak pho had a nice broth and a solid portion of noodles, though I wish there had been more meat. The combination rice plate came out big and had a good mix of items. Was able to add two egg rolls as well! I enjoyed most of it, but the pork chop leaned too sweet and could have used more char for balance. The food here works well for people who want something quick and simple. The staff were efficient and you pay at the front when you are done. There are signs about it, but some people missed them and waited at their tables trying to grab the attention of the front staff. Once your food arrives, they let you enjoy your meal without interruption. One of my favorite parts was the huge TV playing WWE. This is not a fancy spot, but it hits the mark for a casual meal when you are in the area and just want something filling and familiar.

Loud wrestling on TV

LGood food ruined by loud TV of Vietnamese style wrestling show. I'll give this place one more chance in the future. Unfortunate, because we usually like it here.

Pho Lyfe is in a convenient location next to a Korean market with plenty of parking and it's very spacious inside. It's quite dark though and the booth we chose had a huge rip in the seats. Service here isn't the best, a bit spotty, and I love to order a side of white onions and that didn't get relayed and had to ask for it twice after I got my bowl of pho. However, the pho broth was piping hot which is a huge plus for me. Also for a small it is a very good portion, lots of noodles and plenty of meat. In comparison to other pho restaurants their small bowl is equivalent to a large bowl. The steak wasn't the most tender but still pretty good.

Tried this place on a whim last Friday after running some errands and was pleasantly surprised. Didn't even look up reviews beforehand. There's not too many pho options on the west side of the South Bay and even less so in Santa Clara. For the area, I was pretty damn satisfied with my bowl of pho. Humbly tucked away inconspicuously in the Super KyoPo Plaza, this restaurant is a nice (& huge) hole in the wall that has a ton of empty seating. Old school WWF reruns on the TV, bright lighting, mirrors throughout. Service is really lax. Makes for a nice lunch before/after a grocery run. I was greeted and seated immediately, ordered large Pho Dac Biet and it arrived within minutes. Broth was piping hot, meats were tasty, noodles cooked right. No red flags. Soup was a bit MSG heavy but honestly really not as bad as recent reviewers are making it out to be. Better than Tay Ho, House of Pho, VPho, Phonomenal, and Pho Lynn. Not on the same level as Pho Lovers, Pho San Jose, or Pho This Way at the time of this review. 03/21/25 As someone that eats pho nearly every week, this is a respectable bowl at a moderate price. I even DoorDash'd a bowl today just to test their consistency. Nearly as good as in-store and no markup on DoorDash. It's going into my rotation now. 4/5 would come back and recommend.

Best pho in the area! Service is always quick with great quality food. The new location looks amazing. When I discovered this place a few years back, I never have gone anywhere else

bun bo hue

I used to work in this area and often came here for their Bun Bo Hue, aka spicy beef noodle soup. It's not the best Bun Bo Hue but the best in Santa Clara. I always substitute the thick noodles for the pho noodles. If you haven't tried this, I highly recommend it. I've had their pho and it's okay. One thing to point out is that they don't use real sriracha. They use this off-brand, and it's super salty and gross. There is one guy that works here that is super lazy. He walks around moping all day, always on his phone, and ignores customers as they walk in. He sits at the table and watches TV, barely doing anything, while the other guy does all the work.

Spring rolls ($8)

Chilly night = pho cravings! Unfortunately, it did not hit the spot. I got the pho ga, which was bland and flavorless and the chicken was ridiculously overcooked and dry! There were only a few thin slices of onion to be found. Even after I doused it with extra lemon and sriracha, it barely had any flavor. You can choose fresh or dry noodles. I chose dry and they were still stuck together when it was served. Some never un-stuck throughout the meal. In 7.5 years, I've never seen the fiancé bust a bead while eating. The bun bo hue was so spicy, he was dripping sweat. The beef also wasn't tender. Needless to say, he couldn't finish the regular sized bowl, and this is a human garbage can we're talking about. The spring rolls were good though.

Spicy Beef Pho is amazing!

This place is a little hole in the wall. Its in a strip mall adjacent from Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara. There was plenty of parking when we went on Saturday for lunch time. They have various dishes but we went for the Pho. We had the spicy beef Pho and 2 other varieties of the Pho soup. It was very delicious! It was hot and the broth was just soooo good. They briught it iut with all the fixings and it was great! We also had the Passionfruit drink which is a ust have for me and it was the best! The service was quick and friendly. When we got in there were a few people sitting and eating. Then when we were seated they had a rush of customers show up. People now about this place and they come here for the Pho. They have other dishes in case Pho isn't your thing. You can also pick the type of noodle, they have fresh noodles too. I would recommend this place and would advise you to come if you haven't already.

P9 rare steak and fatty brisket pho with the sides.

This is my go-to pho place. Better than the popular Pho Ha Noi. I like that their broth has no MSG yet still tasty.

This is not a large Bánh Mi shop, but their food is delicious. We ordered pork pate chaud, banh mi…read moredac biet (house special sandwich - 1b) and a double spam masubi. All were delicious! The pate chaud is a little smaller than other locations, but it's good quality and flaky, not too oily. The banh mi dac biet had a soft, yet crispy roll, plenty of cold cuts, and a nice amount of pate spread. The veggies were a little on the lower quantity, but it was fresh. The double spam masubi was warm and delicious, absolutely worth the extra up charge for two slices of spam. The gentleman taking our order was friendly and helpful for new customers. He spoke English and Vietnamese, which is a plus for those wanting to work on their Vietnamese food ordering skills. The restaurant had plenty of free parking, and a few small tables if you decide to eat onsite. Recommend order to go because it's cramped inside. The smell of fresh food to-go definitely helped me order more food than I was intending to - great ambience. Highly recommend if you need a quality banh mi without long waits.

The store has a very homely but familiar atmsophere, which I feel could be divisive but I personally like. Aside from the ordering counter, the entire store is stuffed with a variety of snacks, drinks, and toys. Some of the snacks are familiarly American, but many are Vietnamese snacks/drinks more uncommon here, including fermented meats, honey comb cake, and more. The menu on the wall has a lot of photos, but it also doesn't cover everything you can order here. According to their menu, they primarily serve bahn mis and other sandwiches, but you can order spring rolls. I love their spring rolls, and it's all I really order here. I wouldn't recommend eating in, as it is really cramped, but it's a great spot for quickly picking up some good food to take on the go. They make the food quickly and it tastes really good, so I like to drop by after work to take some food to-go.

Plenty of seating. interior very clean and inviting. The food is eatable. Had the Lovers Sample Plate. Everything on the sampler was good. Cons; Location is in a poor spot. Parking limited and shared with other businesses in the strip mall. The restaurant is next to a medium size grocery store and across the street from a school. I had a large #17 Pho with sliced steak, brisket, flank, tendon, tripe, and noodles. The broth was lacking flavor. The sriracha was so watered down that it ruined the soup when I used it. The garnishment plate came with very little. needed more basil, bean sprouts, I felt there was enough jalapenos and lemon wedges. I had to share this with another adult. probably won't come back. unless I remember to bring my own sriracha

Shaken Beef Garlic Noodles - definitely a top favorite! They don't skimp out on the beef pieces which is a plus. The shaken beef is nice and tender and nicely seasoned along with the noodles and veggies. They even have extra sauce on the side to add if you like your noods extra saucy. Grilled Pork, Grilled Shrimp, Egg Rolls & Salad with Vermicilli - very fulfilling and I enjoyed the ratio of meats to noodles. The pork is tender and they gave a good mix of lean/fatty pieces which I enjoyed. Service is great and I have no complaints. There are a ton of tables/booths to sit at. I'll definitely be a returning customer.

The booths in the dining area reminded me of a diner. Nothing fancy, but well-kept by the staff. *** O U R P I C K S *** HA NOI SPECIAL GRILLED PORK VERMICELLI (BUN CHA HA NOI) ~ The meat is quite salty since it was sitting in a sauce, but my friend enjoyed her dish with the noodles and vegetables to balance the flavors. But from the looks of the dish, not much meat on the plate. 3.5/5 GRILLED PORK & PORK EGG ROLL VERMICELLI ~ This is my go-to dish when I'm eating Vietnamese. The pork wasn't really salty or as flavorful as I had expected. Pretty average compared to other eateries with the same dish. I forgot to tell them not to include raw bean sprouts, so when I put the sprouts aside, it filled 1/4 of my bowl. 3.5/5 COMBINATION BEEF PHO ~ My guy ordered this and said the broth was bland compared to other Vietnamese eateries. Not much in the bowl. He went home and made a sandwich. 3/5 HALF HAINANESE CHICKEN AND CHICKEN RICE ~ Our friend ordered this dish; he left more than 1/2 of the chicken on his plate. He said it was dry, and the skin wasn't at all crispy because they didn't blanch it in ice water to give that crispy texture for Hainanese Chicken. The rice wasn't flavorful either. He left dissatisfied and hungry. 2/5 PANDAN WAFFLES ~ comp dessert after our meal. This was lightly sweetened, crispy, and chewy. Actually very good. 4/5 Hit or miss with some of the dishes, though it seemed more misses than hits. I was told the San Jose location is better. But I've tried both and wasn't impressed with either location. The only item we liked was the complimentary dessert!
