I was not wrong and enjoyed my steak pho with shrimp and pork spring rolls. Pho Lotus reminds me of some of the spots in San Jose Ca. I'm visiting family from SGV in Los Angeles, and those familiar with the area, know that it's the Asian hub of CA. I was craving pho and wanted my family to try some. Needless to say this place did not disappoint. This is a little mom and pop, and pretty authentic, esp considering the area. I ordered spring rolls, 2 phos, a vermicelli, and Thai tea. The prices are a bit more expensive than I'm used to, regardless everything was hot and fresh. The portions were decent sized, and the owner was sweet and gave me the extra bean sprouts that I requested. Good stuff and I'll def be back in the future. The pho here was delicious but not the best broth I've ever had. I do have to say, the noodles were cooked to perfection but the meat pieces were so big and rubbery it ruined the experience. I had to remove all the meat to be able to enjoy my pho. Family owned business so they have kiddos working at the restaurant and I personally found it super cute. This little mom-and-pop pho spot is an absolute gem! It's family-run, and you can really feel the warmth and care in both the service and the food. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. He ended up leaving and we went else where. Fast forward to last night this is the closest Pho place near us. My husband had a sore throat and Pho usually helps us feel better quickly. I ordered 1 chicken Pho and 1 veggie Pho. Over all it wasn't bad, there was no wait this time, and the food was ready when we got there. I would recommended adding more sauces packets. They only gave us 1 hot sauce and 1 horsin sauce. Luckily we had all we needed at home but if I didn't I would have been upset. But today I decided to take away a star due to the fact that I had hands down the worst tasting and textured Pad Thai I've ever had in my life. it tasted like they used ketchup as a base for their pad Thai seasonings. It was gross, slimy, and didn't have any other flavors except for a ketchup after taste. I don't mean to be rude, it objectively tasted like ketchup. Straight from the bottle, big batch squirted bottle of Heinz. Their pho is fantastic. Come here for the pho. Do not waste your money going off menu. This review is for their Pho, Bun, egg rolls, spring rolls and soups, and Vietnamese plates. This review is Not for their Chinese dishes. With that understood ... this is by far the best Pho place in the area, and definitely one of the best in the valley. All the food we've had has been really tasty, with a depth and complexity to the flavors that bespeaks of an elderly, very capable and very caring cook in the kitchen. Today I had a craving for Vietnamese lemongrass chicken (this is typically grilled chicken). I decided to give Pho Lotus a try because it was convenient for hubby to pick up on his way home. I ordered online - specifically "lemongrass chicken plate, with shrimp (paid $3.00 for shrimp), served with cucumber, lettuce and tomato ". I ended up with a disgusting-looking chicken dish (looks like it was sauteed with carrots, broccoli and zucchini), served with rice. The worst part? No $3.00 shrimp!!! Some might say it was hubby's fault for not reviewing the food when he picked it up (yeah, yeah, I already screamed at him!). But isn't it the merchant's responsibility to cook what the customer ordered and paid for - and to aldo make sure that the food handed to the customer is the correct food? Sloppy customer service is a mild way to describe their service. And oh, hubby's grilled pork banh mi was not good either.
