I haven't been to any pho place in San Diego that has been one of a kind. Pho usually tastes the same. But I like this place because it's been fairly quiet when we've eaten here. Plus the workers are nice and attentive, which usually I'm not used to in a Pho place. Being nice, that is. Other places have been strictly business and not friendly/approachable. Not sure if its the owner son but when we got there, there was 2 guys at the register. 1 with a regular shirt and another one with a video game shirt. The guy with the video game shirt helped us. Finally we ordered, up until we got our food the server just stared at us while standing right next to our table, now drinking a beer. I came here with a group of 3. Lucky for us, when we were there, the waiter said it was the last day that they'd offer free soda and cake because it's now been 1 month since they opened. We ordered a bunch of stuff from the menu. All I gotta say is, everything here is so delicious, The Lee's vermicelli rice special is a must. It tasted incredible and it was satisfying. Good food and they deliver! The Pho broth was tasty, the fried 'egg rolls' were crave-able, and the Thai tea was delicious (even with the whipped cream that I asked them not to include). The fried rice was so-so (more peas and carrots than I personally prefer) and the pork chops weren't so good as left-overs (I had to order a few plates to reach the $35 minimum order for delivery). I didn't realize until later that day, that a delivery fee was not included. If I had known, I would have increased my delivery tip. The waiter wasn't merely polite or smiley, but good natured and personable in a way that put one at ease, and created an amenable atmosphere. I know I will feel comfortable coming here -- a huge plus. If I don't feel at ease or welcome in a restaurant or business, I won't come back, no matter how good the food or efficient the service. Some reviewers aren't keen on the location. It's on East Valley Pkwy by Jo-Ann's and Kennedy Karne, which has its own claim to fame. This is the 4th time I have been here in two weeks. Living in Valley Center, this is just right down the hill and an easy drive. My favorite was the egg rolls...until I tried the spring rolls. Totally amazing. The herbs and lettuce are really, really fresh. My daughter is in love with their curry (and she is very picky when it comes to curry) and my husband was impressed as well. My only concern is that the location is not going to be seen by people, even though parking is amazing and easy. It is tucked back in the strip mall. Definitely one of the best pho places up in North SD County. I drive from Rancho Bernardo up to this place even though there are like four places much closer to work. Their broth is flavorful, has really good depth, and their meat is good quality. The noodles separate nicely in the broth, unlike some places where they clump up. The service is also really good and their prices are very favorable. One last bit, it's in a bit of a run down strip mall but those are where you find the best places! I had lunch with a Chef friend last week and could not be more pleased. We had the Sausage and Egg spring roll and the Shrimp and Sugar Cane Spring roll. Both were very fresh and tasty. We agreed the Sausage and egg was the winner. We each ordered Pho, I had the #1 and he had the #4 really closer in ingredients but he ordered his with no tendon and extra tripe. The broth had a great depth of flavor and plenty of meat and vegetables. Andrew who was serving and running the front of house was pleasant, funny and really knew the food. So next time you're hungover on a Sunday and can't decide if you're more tired or hungry... just call Pho Lee and they will deliver a steaming bowl of pho soup to your front door. My fiance and I tried this place for the first time yesterday and considering we're both Vietnamese, I think we have a good palette to critique Vietnamese cuisine. I had the Lee Special Vermicelli noodles. It comes with a couple extra goodies than the normal "Dac Biet" or Special Vermicelli noodles has, like the shrimp on sugar cane and I think fried meatballs? Either way, it was BOMB! My fiance had the pho and although the broth wasn't your typical pho broth, it was still really really good. I had a few bites; it had a hint of curry in it too. Which always has me worried but all the yelp reviews were positive so I wasn't too worried. Staff was great and friendly. The inside was nice, clean, lots of tables. Food was delicious! I was surprised that they had bo bia that I had to order it. It's uncommon to vietnamese restaurants in San Diego. It hit the spot. My boyfriend had a thit nuong (bbq pork) wrap which was a form I wasn't too familiar with but it tasted great. The meat tasted just like what I get from home. I had Pho tai chin (rare and well done beef) and it was great. No complaints. I wished I didn't have the bo bia because I couldn't finish my small bowl of pho and felt a little bad for having to throw away a good amount. But that being said, portions are generous! I usually eat there once a month when I meet with friends, a large German group. They allow us to have separate checks and their food is very reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. The pho broth makes you hungrier as you drink it; it is SO GOOD. Every meal is SO generous with their helpings relative to the price ($6.50-9), and I can't say more than IT IS ALL SO GOOD. This is Escondido's newest Vietnamese restaurant and things are looking good. The restaurant seems to be a family operated business. The staff are all super friendly and welcoming. The food was quite tasty, I really enjoyed the beef stew with French bread. The meatball pho is also great. They are also giving free fountain drinks and cake to guests to celebrate their first month in business. Their pricing is roughly on par with other Vietnamese restaurants in North County. The only thing I don't like is their location, they are at the end of Valley Parkway. If you live in Valley Center its a great spot to hit on the drive home. I love Pho Lee. Their food is delicious, the prices are great, and it always looks very clean. The hours are great, too! My two-year-old loves pho, but it can be stressful taking her to restaurants because she does have a speech delay and often expresses herself through loud screaming or yelling, but both the customers and the waiters and owners at Pho Lee have been very patient and kind with us, even when she's being a bit loud or spills some of her meal or drink.
