All the meat, including the egg rolls came really dried out. The egg roll had a sour taste to it also. It's almost like they put it all in a warming oven all day and threw it in my dish. I'm glad this place exists. It's so hard to find consistently good pho. This place hits everytime. They don't skimp you on limes or anything either, and the young lady at the front is always super sweet. This is the only pho place I'll ever go to in Escondido. Weekend lunch with friends delivered to the house. I had the bun with grilled pork and eggrolls. The portion size was perfect and bun was the best option for the hot summer day outside. Became regulars here as there aren't much Vietnamese places in Escondido.. Love the food here you can tell it's home made with love from the owner's mom. Very disappointed with the service. We ordered won ton egg noodles soup from the menu. The male server brought out some fish and shrimp vermicelli noodle. When we told him that isn't our order, he said we don't have egg noodles soup. I asked for the menu and pointed to wonton egg noodle soup which is clearly on the menu. It's a very clean cafeteria-style place with a large, diverse menu. We got the Rare Steak and Brisket Pho and Chicken Pho. The broths were very good, about as tasty as I've had anywhere, and the noodles predicatably average. The beef was very chewy with too much fat and there was only about three ounces of it. The chicken (white meat only) was dry and chewy. The accompanying side of basil and bean sprouts was not very fresh; the basil had many small/limp pieces and the sprouts kind of brown and borderline slimey. Overall, not a good value at the premium $14.95 prices for the small bowls. I don't know whether it extends to their myriad other dishes, but the proteins were sorely lacking in quality and quantity. Pho Lee is located in a very busy strip mall and parking can be very difficult to secure. We visited during lunch and there were only a couple diners in the restaurant. We were sat and a few minutes later or order was taken. We ordered shrimp spring rolls to start and pho ga for our main meal. Spring rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce was outstanding. We appreciated that our server brought 2 bowls of sauce so each of us was able to doctor it the way we liked it. Soon after that our large bowls of chicken pho arrived. The soup was very hot and equally flavorful. It was easy to demolish and sure was delicious. Price for the large pho was 16.95 each and the single order of spring rolls was 8.95. We found these prices more than fair. Pho Lee hit the mark on food. Service was a bit relaxed considering the place was empty and they should have provided some ice with our water. If those issues and parking were better this place would have received 5 stars. All in all it was a good experience and tasty lunch. read more

It had to be a good 30 minutes before we got our Spring Rolls, which we decent, then maybe 10 minutes later the shaking beef came out which was a sparse amount of meat but tasted fairly good. Our waitress never came back to check on us, we attempted to "Flag her down" a few times as we had been waiting another 25-30 minutes without or 2nd entree coming out. I was finally able to get her attention at the register, and asked how much longer it was going to be for our 2nd entree, she stated that she "did not put in the order for #79". There was no "sorry, I forgot" or what most restaurants tend to do "Let me check" as they go put in the order. Nothing. I said this is the entree that you recommended... Nothing, zero concern. I asked for my check for what we did order. There was not a thank you, not a come back soon, or hope to see you again, just nothing. Sometimes a dumpy looking place is a hidden gem, but not this time. There were 3 tables sat when we arrived and we were told to sit anywhere we liked. We asked the waitress for her recommendation and she immediately said her favorite was #79 (shrimp, beef and chicken combination stir fried egg noodles). We asked for a minute to look over the menu as it was our first time here. It took a very long time for her to come back to take our order and when she finally did we ordered the pork spring rolls, the shaking beef and on her recommendation #79. Then I went to wash my hands and was hit with the worst smell (maybe sewer, maybe something that died) and it actually felt like the smell burnt my nose hairs. I went back to the table and we waited over 30 mins just to get our appetizer. The appetizer pork spring rolls were decent, the peanut sauce was a little thin, but okay taste overall probably a 3 out of 5. Then they brought out the shaking beef. It had a good flavor, but not much meat and definitely not enough as an only entree for 2 people. We waited over another 30 minutes before flagging down our waitress as she never came back to check on us and our other entree #79 never arrived. She said we didn't have any other dishes coming out and she never put in the order for the #79. She didn't seem to care that we had been unattended pretty much the whole time we were there and that she missed ordering our second entree which she recommended. The husband loved the vermicelli bowl. The spring rolls were good but the dipping sauce it came with was watery. The two chicken dishes were good. We got a lot of food and it was well seasoned. $41 later.... I feel like it was such a disappointing dining experience! We came in on a Sunday, just me and my daughter, and had a small bowl of pho, a kids rice, lunch set and spring rolls. The food is 3/5. I wish it serves the basic needs, but doesn't seem particularly fresh or inspired. It comes with just the bare minimum garnishes, and the portions are small for the price. I have heat at a lot of restaurants, and a lot of Vietnamese, restaurants, and this just fell flat. Additionally, even though we were the only people there for much of the time, the girl at the front never came back to check on us, and it's dad decided to eat her lunch in front of all of us. The restaurant was dirty, with spiderwebs in the corners, and the tops of the condiment bottles had not been wiped off. She clearly had the time to do it and was just sitting there instead. All in all with the depressing environment, small portions, the three out of five food presentation and taste, I've decided to give Pho Lee a solid two stars. I really hope that the owners can find some inspiration to put a little more energy into their restaurant and turn it around, because I am just sitting there wondering when is their last day. This place was decent - somewhere I wouldn't mind going to if I was in the area but not something I would go out of my way to specifically eat at. I appreciated that they could an order with 1 grilled pork spring roll and 1 grilled chicken spring roll, no vermicelli noodles but instead the pickled daikon and carrot. They don't use msg in their meat marinades, which is a plus. They seemed to be wrapped kind of hurriedly, as there was a glob of rice paper around the seam areas. The pickled veggies were good but on the sweet side. Note that if you order a side of of pickled veggies, they are cut like those zig zag french fries, which I thought was interesting. It is also just carrots and diackon (thought there would be cabbage too but nope). We also got the grilled pork plate. I appreciated how it wasn't pretentiously plate; however, I cannot comment on the taste since I did not try it. Would give this place another shot.
