For those that know

If you want real authentic Vietnamese food- and Pho -come here- the strip mall is not fancy- the plant sale in the front is perfectly tacky- the decorations are a mix of authentic Vietnamese, art and standard restaurant fake flowers- loud fans will push through to keep you cool and if you're not super familiar with authentic Vietnamese food, you will think that many of the dishes are the same as the more Americanized version- but the same name does not mean the same dish or similar level of quality- more importantly, not the same taste- At the moment, I took the first bite of my appetizer and felt like I was back in Saigon- the waitress was kind- took my order properly in a mostly empty restaurant- the owner Owner speaking no English came to check on me twice- but she didn't have to because I felt like I was in district 3- sitting on a small infested curb near the Rex hotel- Because honestly, for those that know- you know

Curry

Ordered the chicken curry and it was not edible. The curry was extremely watery with no thickness whatsoever. The chicken looked questionable and the potatoes looked previously frozen. Very upsetting.

First time here and it was okay. I felt that everything could've been more flavorful. The banh xeo was over cooked. It didn't look too burnt but when I ate it, it definitely tasted burnt. The restaurant was empty and quiet.

Shrimp Spring Rolls with killer peanut sauce

Pho Lee is located in a very busy strip mall and parking can be very difficult to secure. We visited during lunch and there were only a couple diners in the restaurant. We were sat and a few minutes later or order was taken. We ordered shrimp spring rolls to start and pho ga for our main meal. Spring rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce was outstanding. We appreciated that our server brought 2 bowls of sauce so each of us was able to doctor it the way we liked it. Soon after that our large bowls of chicken pho arrived. The soup was very hot and equally flavorful. It was easy to demolish and sure was delicious. Price for the large pho was 16.95 each and the single order of spring rolls was 8.95. We found these prices more than fair. Pho Lee hit the mark on food. Service was a bit relaxed considering the place was empty and they should have provided some ice with our water. If those issues and parking were better this place would have received 5 stars. All in all it was a good experience and tasty lunch.

They weren't very busy for lunch, but the weather doesn't really call for pho as much! I was interested in their Banh Xeo but we also did try their Pho Dac Biet to see if we would like the pho here. Banh Xeo (3.5/5): This was great, and so refreshing with lettuce wraps and mints. The banh Xeo remained super crispy and was so yummy with the fish sauce. My complaint was that the pork was dry and the lettuce had some wilted edges, which I was wary about. Other than that the shrimp inside and batter was delicious. Pho Dac Biet (3.5/5): Clean broth and not too salty. The bowls came with brisket, tendon, meatballs, and some flank meat. Minimal veggies were offered. Overall, a little more quality and freshness in the ingredients would serve this dining experience better! My family did enjoy the food and the flavors are all there.

Parking can be tight sometimes but we usually find a spot close enough. Their bun bo nuong (beef vermacelli with eggrolls) has been especially our go-to lately during this summer heat! The beef has been super tender and the noodles and veggies with nuoc mam has been refreshing. I like that they use stainless steel cups for water cups too and they have great customer service. Everyone is on top of it and very nice

"I hate to do it, just as bad as you hate to see it done, now calm your boys" As a a non-seafoodie, I entered with trepidation...as soon as I stepped in, the stench of seafood hit me in the face, oh no...I had a strong inkling of what was to come. Disclaimer: Had I not been part of a large gathering that was coming here, I doubt I ever would have come to this buffet. Pros: They had the World Cup playing on a "2017 New" 36ish inch TV with the tags still on it The food was mostly hot The cream cheese wontons were delicious, creamy, and crispy Cons: I tried like 11 items, and only the cream cheese wontons were hittin'. Out of the 11 items I tried, only 3-4 items were passable as decent The food was salty The black pepper chicken tasted like fish The food ended up giving my bubble guts the bubble guts-SHEESH! While there were loads of offerings, which I appreciate, the organization of said offerings were a bit strange. The hibachi was set-up going left to right, while the food stations on either side of it were going right to left, creating this crazy clash of people heading in opposite directions. It just wasn't for me.

California Health and Safety Code § 113961(b) requires ready-to-eat food to be handled without bare-hand contact, using a barrier such as gloves, tongs, deli tissue, or another appropriate utensil. Last night, I came in and ended up giving my food away because I was so uncomfortable with what I saw. After cleaning the restroom, an employee immediately went over to handle and cut my fruit with her bare hands and then served it to me. That was extremely concerning from a food-safety standpoint. Employees are being paid to prepare and serve food safely, and basic sanitation should be the bare minimum when handling fresh produce and other ready-to-eat foods. I have photos showing employees handling food with their bare hands. I plan to contact the manager and, depending on how this is addressed, the San Diego County health department as well. The food quality and sanitation standards seem to have gone downhill. I hope management takes this seriously and corrects the issue immediately. There's absolutely no reason why any bare hand should be touching customers, fruit or food. This is supposed to be marketed as "fresh food @ and produce, but it loses that quality as soon as employees touch with their bare hands they are not at their house preparing food they're at an establishment. Please call them out if they're handling your food with their bare hands that is illegal
