Veggie soup
MarMar G.

Veggie soup was hot and tasted clean. Spring roll was my fave thing. The noodles were really good with a lot of fish.

This delicious Vietnamese spot in Buffalo serves familiar traditional dishes and stands out as a true gem for those interested in options for Pho. We stopped in and had spring rolls for appetizers and they were delicious and paired perfectly with the peanut sauce when dipped. I decided to try the Bun Bo Hue which was spicy and excellent it's one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes so trying it here was really nice and it was made very well. Pho Lantern was a good experience and I would definitely try again

Chicken Pho

This is my go to spot for not only amazing Pho , but they also have a really great haddock fish fry. Which you can order daily & year round. Which is a huge plus , because many places only do fish frys on Fridays only. You get a hug piece of perfectly fried haddock with a side of fries and Cole slaw. What I like most about there fish fry is it's never greasy and instead of beer battered it's panko. Which is a nice spin . The pho is a staple for me and never lacks taste. They offer dine in and take out. Both options provide you with delicious and fresh food ever time. When you walk in your always greeted with a friendly hello and feel right at home. When I go here I always feel like I'm out of town traveling in a different country. Beautiful lightly and tons of decorations to support the culture. The prices can't be beat. Definitely a must try Of course the have a full menu with tons on options to suit everyone cravings . Try them out today

Extra large pho.

What a perfect little surprise dinner. My son and I were traveling and staying in Buffalo for the night. We were looking for something yummy, ethnic, and reasonably priced. We read the reviews for Pho Lantern and decided that was a great option for what we wanted. The restaurant in housed in what looks like a house on Niagara Street. We parked on the street and there was ample, close parking. We were greeted by a kind, young woman when we arrived who was busy taking orders from seated customers and processing pick up orders as well. She handled it all seamlessly and gracefully. My son ordered two spring rolls which were hand delivered by an older woman (who I assumed was cooking in the kitchen). She had the kindest, most gentle eyes. Next up, my son received his Extra Large Pho (which was super extra large and not needed - lol). I ordered two boba teas because they are delicious, enough said. I also ordered the 1/2 price special. There is one every day. The day we dined was Thursday and it was a chicken dish. Lovely, and delish. Overall, I was impressed by everyting this restaurant had to offer. The food, the service ..... perfection. The decor - I like a little more - but this was very nicely done.

Shrimp and pork summer rolls, with peanut dipping sauce, $4 per roll.

Seated immediately by the hostess, and our drinks came out right away. The boba Thai tea was amazing: Sweet and full of boba pearls (and lots of caffeine!) The appetizers were also a hit: Summer rolls with pork and shrimp, with a side of peanut dipping sauce, and then vegetable dumplings, fried. Very quickly this was followed by the entrees: A beef meatball pho - the "Small" for $14 was still too large for my teenager to finish half of it; I had the excellent avocado salad with seafood. Although it was very tasty, and loaded with scallops, green mussels, and shrimp, the avocado was an afterthought: There was less than a quarter of a fruit on the plate. The wait staff was very attentive and checked back after each addition to see if anything else was needed. The other clientele were neighborhood working-class folks, out for a lunch. Hip-hop on the speakers.

If you love pho, you have to check out Pho Lantern! Their pho soup is not only delicious but also super affordable. Every time I go, I feel so happy and satisfied--it's the kind of meal that warms you from the inside out. I really love it and highly recommend it to anyone craving comforting, flavorful pho...

XL Pho Rare Beef with Veggies - there's a second bowl cause we were sharing
N Y.

Cozy, quiet, dark restaurant for an intimate meal. Service was good -- servers were attentive and responsive to my requests. XL Pho with Rare Beef, add veggies - More than enough for two people to share. Broth was flavorful but a little greasy for my liking. The rare beef was a lot chewier than I'm used to. I'm not sure if it's because of the cut of meat or because it was undercooked. Veggies included broccoli, cabbage, carrots, and mushrooms. Since we had beef and veggies, the bowl was overpacked, which made it hard for the beef to cook (some pieces were bright red). The noodles soaked up all the broth too. I had to order a side a small side of broth to ensure the meat would get cooked, and the side of broth was $3. I was kinda surprised I was charged for that. Overall, a good experience and I would eat there again. Just don't look up at the vents. They're pretty dirty...

Large Extra Rare Beef Pho

Buffalo Hidden Gem! Driving through Buffalo on a road trip, Pho Lantern served a nice meal for a group of hungry road weary travelers. The menu varied much which was perfect for a group of picky eaters. My group chose a variety Pho, Bun, Shaking Beef, and even a Pad Thai and Fried Chicken Wings! Perhaps a little strange to say but the Pad Thai was a great portion and each bite packed a solid surprisingly lasting heat. Pho portions came in four different sizes which was great for my group whose appetite varied across the board. The service was great on a Tuesday night; attentive, efficient and friendly. Call ahead if you have a large group and they will have a table ready. Would definitely recommend.

Went last night for girls night and had a blast! We were greeted and seated immediately upon arrival by a very lovely hostess. She took extra time to go over the most popular dishes and gauged what we would most likely enjoy. The Thai tea is light and refreshing and I recommend you try it. I had the rare beef Pho and omg, I have enough leftovers for at least two more meals. The food was fantastic and the service was perfect. The atmosphere is well...comfortable and quirky. We were given time after our meal to catch up and laugh. By the time we left we knew we'd be back for more!!!

I've noticed there are quite a lot of good reviews here in this spot. I thought I'd give it a try. Although it's a bit misdirecting as I didn't get their signature dishes due to that fact that ordering pho for takeout never seems to go right. This review is more on other selections i've ordered. So if you're here for the Pho Review. You would have to read someone else's. As for their Shaking Beef with Rice. The flavor was there...but for the cost of it. The value wasn't worth it. Extreme small portions. The BBQ Pork Banh Mi..... I don't even know where to BEGIN in what the heck that was. The meats was scarce. The carrots were little to none. More of a garnish then anything and it wasn't even pickled !? I know not many people do Pate (Which I don't mind) But where's the mayo? I do taste the butter...but Gawd dang this sandwich was a let down. Meat had no flavor, only thing you DO taste is the jalapenos. Last but not least. The wings. Maybe at some Hooters Bar I would have accepted it. But from a Viet spot. I was dumbfounded. I don't know what exactly is in their "Sweet Asian BBQ" But it just taste like regular o texan style bbq wings. This experience was a bit of a let down.

Love love love the pho here!!! I always get the veggie pho w extra broccoli and I have never been disappointed. The service and food is quick and efficient, I'm usually in and out within an hour.

I always thought that Pho Lantern, formerly Niagara Seafood, served the best seafood pho around. Since the transformation and reconstruction of this place, I only had take-out dishes. I missed the pleasure of eating in a newly renovated space. This time, we were sitting next to a dirty aquarium, with little water, no fish and no life. I didn't have much time to think about it. We were hungry and Pho Lantern took care of us in the best way possible. Our order was quickly on the table. My portion of Shrimp Pad Thai was scary huge:). It included everything I love about this dish, plus the flavor was outstanding. My companions had pho soups that looked very good, too. That's what I'll order next time I'm around. Sunday is half price Avocado Chicken Salad. The avocado was perfect and the chicken had a very pleasant flavor. It's good they serve the dressing on the side and dry cranberries are easy to remove. Just so you know, if you check in with the Yelp app, they offer a free soft drink. I saved it for later:).

The dumplings are very good, the chicken pho was bland, and the smoothies are made from a powdered mix.

I got the Pad Ka Pow with pork and an order of the spring rolls. The service was so fast here and friendly. I got my food to go and it was still piping hot when I got home 15 minutes later. This is quite the meal with a large portion of rice in the main dish and five spring rolls. It was delicious from start to finish. Each dish came with an extra sauce to use or dip into. The spring rolls were crispy and full of flavor. The pad ka pow was a perfect balance of savory flavor with the right amount of spice. I should have asked to get shrimp with it this time, but that will happen when I go back next time. The parking at Chandler Street can be a little tough but I found a spot which was nice. The building is full of businesses so it is a nice place to be when you're hungry. Of course no problem. We still got there and food was ready by 1145. He told us he came in a little early make sure it was done! How nice was that. He also threw in a free Thai tea drink for us! Which was absolutely delicious. All the food was just packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. We ordered the coconut shrimp. I don't eat shrimp but everyone said it was amazing. Then we also had the crab rangoon, let me tell you by far some of the best I've had. Normally you get a ragoon filled with cream cheese and hardly any crab, this was the opposite. These were plump and fried to perfection filled with tons of crab! For entries we went with the Burnese beef fried rice, Papaya salad, stir fried pork ribs and sesame chicken. Everything was amazing. The papaya salad you have an option to pick your heat level 1 thru 5, we went a two, which he explained was medium. Well the two was spicyyyyy. So depending on your heat sensors, order with caution. For me the heat was perfect, I definitely could not have went any higher, but a few people in the party struggled a bit. My man what an absolute flavor bomb! Loved that the sesame chicken was all white meat! I don't eat ribs but everyone said amazing, it was packaged with potatoes, and I ate some of those, and again, delicious!!!! The cashier was a little gruff, but the woman running back and forth between the kitchen and the front had a better business sense about keeping customers happy. She didn't want me to wait long, so I think she rushed the kitchen a little bit, which I appreciated, but also may have led to some of the demerits on the food I mention below. I was happy to see one dish I ordered, the pig intestine with fish, on their picture board above the cash registers. That gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing and it was the best dish by far out of the three I ordered. The intestine was fresh and flavorful, the spice level was high, but also not too salty. It was a lot of food. Only drawback here was the fish (tilapia?) seemed to be heavy on the breading. The other two dishes were disappointing. Penang curry with pork had good vegetables, but the sauce had too little flavor since they went too heavy on the coconut milk. The pork seemed like chicken, not pork. Way too soft and flavorless. The Singapore Chow Mei Fun had good noodles and veggies. But the curry powder was not blended in. Eating it, I could still feel it in powder form. It was also far too oily. Overall, I think they had a lot of options but next time I'd steer more towards classic Chinese, since that seems to be what they do well. I hope next time the flavors will be stronger and blended better (i.e. powders actually stirred in). I'm willing to give them another chance, since they do have a lot of dishes I like. Last note: the online ordering service does not indicate that dishes come with rice. I thought they would have rice by default, but then when I added the penang curry to my cart, it asked whether I wanted rice or noodles or something else. So that made me think I had to order rice separately, which meant I had twice as much rice as I needed. It also said "quart of white rice" was sold out, but "pint of white rice" was not, yet the rice that came with my meal came in a quart container.

Honestly hard to find over the last few years and I was very grateful for that experience alone. The ambience was a very cozy-casual. As I was dining alone this time, I enjoyed the 80s music and videos playing on the TV haha I have to be honest ... I really really wanted to order a roll! But I'm trying to do better about trying other things. So I ordered the Atlantic mussels and the pan seared scallops with veggies with fresh ginger sauce and rice, at a spice level of 3/5. The mussels were very generous and in a large bowl. My biggest pull, aside from the mussels themselves, was that in the description it had a creamy coconut sauce. But I did not taste any coconut and it wasn't creamy. It was broth. It wasn't bad or anything, just not quite what I was expecting. I did appreciate, in general, that there were a couple of mussel options. I hadn't had them in quite some time. The dinner entree was very good. I loved that there was a 1-5 spice scale to choose from. I picked level 3 and was a little worried it wouldn't be spicy enough but it definitely was! It was perfect. The sauce was good and the scallops plump. Veggies were fresh and rice sticky. I had water to drink and it was also very good (felt it deserved a mention lol). I would definitely come back here, but I would definitely order rolls next time! It's what my heart really desires! Side note: great place to indulge in for a whole food diet! I felt very satisfied from my seafood and veggies!!
