NO COMPLAINTS! I love love love this place! I've only ever eaten inside so I was apprehensive about ordering through doordash because of the food quality, but I was not disappointed. I ordered the saigon chicken wings which came hot and crispy, yet still juicy and flavorful. They were a little too fatty for me, but the kids devoured them. I also got the (lunch) pad see ew, which honestly felt big enough to be a dinner portion. I wasn't able to choose a spice level on doordash so the flavor was a little bland for my liking, but I still really enjoyed it. Overall, 10/10 experience. We've always wanted to dine here and it was not a disappointment. High-end Asian dining with an extensive menu. We started with the Vietnamese pancake which you could have as a meal but we had it as an appetizer. It was like a think omelet/pancake with vegetables and your choice of meat with a side sauce. Delicious! Their Vietnamese wonton soup had many smaller wontons and was plenty for two to share. My husband chose the Udaan noodles which many places do not serve and he likes. I had the Pad Thai- I've had better but that was in Thailand. We ordered a bottle of wine. I was a bit surprise on the rating scale of this spot vs another where they had high ratings. I don't know about you. But this place is clearly the winner. The porkchop over rice hit the spot! I honestly can't remember the last time I had a good viet porkchop. The flavors, the tender meat and the side of pickle veggies had a great balance. The WINGS. Now THIS guy knows how to bread/fry the wings. Crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Legit asian style fried wings. I only highlight this as I wrote a previous review that disappointed me in so many levels. As for the fried Squid. It was alright. The crisp is there but the squid tasted like the frozen kinds that has no real "squid" flavor. But crunchin on em was still equally pleasing with the sauce given. This is the second time I've ordered to-go from Saigon Cafe. The first time was in Summer 2020 and I recall not being overly impressed. But last summer was nuts and we decided to give them another try last weekend. I'm so glad we did!!! I ordered the veggie and tofu pad see-ew for $13.99. The portion was generous and super delicious! The tofu and veggies were very flavorful along with the noodles. The texture was absolutely perfect. I want it again right now. We ordered the fried wontons as an appetizer and they were also fantastic. The price seems high at $8.49, so I'm not sure we'll be able to get them in the future...but I'm happy to have tried them. The dipping sauce that goes with them is delicious; I'm not entirely sure what it was though. Maybe sweet chili sauce with vinegar? Something to note is that, like a lot of restaurants right now, their current print menu prices aren't accurate. The prices are now anywhere from $.50 to $1 more per item. Lunch today. My first visit to the Saigon Cafe, corner Elmwood and Utica. Our hostess/server, Jennifer, was very pleasant. When the dishes we'd ordered were set before us, Lynette thought we'd over-ordered. Always easy to do when you're hungry. But we cleaned the plates so I think we'd ordered just enough. The food was all very good. We asked about the weekend brunch, but that is not available yet. Perhaps as things get more normalized. I loved all the windows and the natural lighting of an overcast day. The pressed tin ceiling is gorgeous, but looking up and around, you see things that need dusting. We're all working toward normal, so I'm not expecting every place to be at the top of their game. The food, the flavors, the décor, our server provided a delightful lunch experience. read more

This is my family's favorite Thai food place in Western New York. We've been coming here for a couple years and have never been disappointed. Our favorites are the classics, Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Favorite appetizer is the spring rolls. You can get them ranging from "No Spice" to "Asian Hot" and honestly the medium is more than I care to handle, but other folks we know love the heat. Service is super friendly and I even chatting with the cook once. Everyone's incredibly nice, and personable. I never feel rushed here. Lunch prices are more affordable than dinner, and I usually have plenty to take home, so it's always good bang for your buck. We make it a point to eat here every time we're in the area! read more

I got the crazy noodles dinner with chicken. The chicken was on the dry side and had small bones still in it. There wasn't much in terms of veggies in the meal and was mainly noodles stuck together 5 thick. They also don't label the meals when you get takeout and it's hard to tell the orders apart sometimes if it's similar dishes - for example we had one order of gluten free noodles but no way to tell which one that was. I'm a very patient person, but we waited half an hour for our food to come out and since it was just the two of us, we were a little annoyed. As for the food itself, my friend got the curry udon and really enjoyed it. I decided to order chicken pad Thai, and while I did like it, I found it to be on the blander side. This wasn't my first visit to Saigon Cafe. I've been here a handful of times in the past and have had great experiences. Unfortunately, this time I was less than pleased with my order. I called to place my order and the dish I originally asked for was unavailable. I looked at the menu and asked about the Crazy Noodle dish and the person working who took my call couldn't even really explain the flavor of the dish. I probably should've taken that hint and not continue with placing the order or asked for a recommendation, but I didn't do that. As per usual, I was asked what spice level I wanted and I requested medium spice. I had no issues picking up my order, it was ready right in the timeframe that I was given over the phone. To my surprise, when I got home and tried my first bite of the dish, I was instantly dissatisfied. There was no flavor and even though I was asked what spice level I wanted the dish to be, I tasted no spice. I couldn't make it back to the restaurant that evening, so I went back the following day and explained that I was dissatisfied and asked for a sauce or anything that would help boost the flavor of the dish. I was given chili sauce and soy sauce but I requested limes (and fish sauce just in case) as well bc I didn't feel the chili and soy sauces would cut it. A nice little cozy spot that's easy to drive by without noticing but that won't be happening anymore. This is a Vietnamese and Thai restaurant that provides everything you could ask for either for takeout or a date night or even a group gathering. They offer a ton of happy hour deals and specials and the pricing of the food is beyond fair and tons of quality to the plate I ordered. Masks required and reservations encouraged but do not believe they are required. There honestly wasn't a lot of people in there on a Friday night during dinner but times are definitely strange.The meals came out quickly, they were hot and they were delicious! I will definitely be returning to this spot more often or ordering pickup as it seemed a lot of people were coming in and out to grab their pickup orders too. We recently came here for an impromptu dinner and it was simply not good. The single star is for the prompt and kind service. But besides that, the food was entirely unsatisfactory, especially for the price. I am vegetarian, and ordered the dish called "D5 Broccoli". For my protein, I chose tofu and mixed vegetables. I assumed this meant I would receive a reasonable amount of broccoli, since that is the name of the dish, along with some mixed vegetables and tofu. What I was given was a very small portion overall--that contained TWO SMALL PIECES OF BROCCOLI!! A dish called "Broccoli" should have more than two small pieces of broccoli!! On top of that, the vegetables were raw!! Biting into a carrot was as crunchy as biting into a raw carrot. And the brown sauce was terrible!! It was a light brown slime with nearly no flavor at all. For $14.99, I was given a dish called "Broccoli" that had two small pieces of broccoli that were undercooked, along with uncooked other vegetables, and a small portion of spongy cold tofu. I was entirely dissatisfied. My husband was not as displeased with his meal as I was with mine, but he was very underwhelmed with is below average dish compared to other Thai places we like. I used to go to Saigon Cafe when it was a little box close to Elmwood and Forest, compared to the much bigger version now further down on Elmwood. I wanted to try something new and my friend shared with me that she loves Pad Se-Ew--flat noodles, eggs, veggies, sauce. On Door dash it was also rated the 3rd most ordered dish, after Pad Thai and spring rolls. I was so ready for something new! I'm a big fan of green curry-I usually order that every time I go to a Thai restaurant because I love the creamy coconut milk flavor and all the vegetables poured over a nice bed of rice. But tonight I was almost going to get Pad Thai and my friend tipped the scale and got me ready for Pad Se-Ew! I ordered mine with chicken and also got an app of potstickers that have like these scrumptious pork type meatballs inside and this sweet chili soy sauce that just makes the dish! What I'm really here to talk to you about today though is Spice Level....you can order: No Heat, Mild, or Level 1-4 spice. I picked Level 1 Spice out of 4-"medium." I have a sneaking suspicion that when you dine in and they ask you what level of spice you want, chances are it often turns into a conversation where they explain that their version of medium is from the pits of hell. Unfortunately through door dash I did not get to have that conversation. I order medium pretty much everywhere I go. It always seems to say be for somebody who likes the heat but of course doesn't want their mouth falling off. But apparently "medium" at Saigon = we want to kill you, we don't want you to experience any flavor except for the heat of death in your mouth the second the food touches your tongue.....haha see! There are people out there that really do like it that, super spicy ha ha but I just think that "medium," it's kind of a known thing, medium usually equals-- I like some heat but don't ruin it! LOL. Wellll Saigon Cafe's "medium" a.k.a. Level "1" spice nearly ruined my first experience of pad se-ew for me.... By instinctually the second it hit my mouth and I thought I was dying, I threw the sweet chili soy sauce from my potstickers onto it, and ran for the fridge to get my fat free plain Greek yogurt! I had just enough left to throw a huge dollop on to my meal! So just after drowning myself in seltzer water I finally stirred in the yogurt, and the potsticker chili soy sauce, and was able to take another bite of my pad se-ew and then another and then suddenly I found I could finally eat this crazy dish!!!! And thank goodness cause you know what? it was really good! But honestly I just don't know what it taste like without a ton of Greek yogurt in it! I don't know if I was actually supposed to drink the sauce after I actually ate the contents, but I did because that's how good this was. Yes, there was a baby cockroach in my food. We notified the waitress and she said "oh no that's not good" and just took that one dish off the bill. I would've expected them to be more alarmed, apologetic, and comp us the entire meal. I absolutely love Thai food, it's actually my favorite. Saigon Cafe has a wonderful patio for safe and fun dining, especially during this time with COVID. They practice social distancing by having the tables spread apart and seating guest every other table. You get to experience the true essence of the Elmwood Village, on their patio. Right on the corner of Elmwood and Utica, you're in the middle of all the action. With the sun making an appearance, it was the perfect setting for a cold refreshing drink. I was torn between the Loganberry Margarita or a classic Mai Thai... well, when the waitress informed me they haven't had the ingredients for the Loganberry Margarita in months, the Mai Thai won by default. A strong contender, it was very pleasing both aesthetically and in taste. For appetizers, I decided on the crispy calamari and fried wontons. The calamari wasn't bad. Lightly breaded, it had a very nice crunch, but it lacked some flavor. The sauce it was paired with (that tasted like a variation of duck sauce) helped in the flavor department. The fried wontons were pretty good. Each of the wontons had a piece of shrimp in it, and they were the perfect bite size. The sauce it was paired with, went well with both the wontons and the calamari. Next was the main course - the Coconut Shrimp. You get to pick your choice of the heat/spice level, and in true "me" fashion, I opted for the hottest option: Thai Hot. *For all those reading and praying for my palate and tastebuds, Thai Hot just means they actually incorporate pieces of Thai chili into the dish. The shrimp was coated nicely with coconut and mixed with mushrooms, peppers and onions. It came with a side of white rice and it was on top of this brown sauce/gravy that was made by one of the Thai food gods. Honestly, the shrimp was pretty on the plate but lacked flavor - the sauce saved the day... more gravy, baby! The wait staff was very punctual, pleasant and accommodating. Preliminary review: The new location does delivery! Perfect for when I have a cold and want some chicken pho to try to clear my sinuses up and some comfort. I've peaked inside and they have a beautiful interior and bar area. Haven't yet dined in. For delivery, I ordered summer rolls, chicken pho and seafood tom yum soup along with "N8" crazy noodle dish with flat noodles, vegetables and ginger. The summer rolls were delicious and came with shrimp and chicken along with peanut sauce. The shrimp was fresh and the roll was well presented even in delivery format. I was a little confused that it contained chicken because I thought the roll was an option of shrimp, chicken or veggies where I chose shrimp, but nope! You get everything the menu says. My wife had to pick out the chicken, but she enjoyed them too. My chicken pho was decent, although the broth could have used a bit more flavor. The chicken was just white strips of chicken with no apparent seasoning. It was decent after I mixed it with the accompanying sauces, but otherwise I felt it needed a deeper flavor tone to it, although it's challenging to accomplish this with pho without boiling the broth for days (and without using too much salt, spices, etc). Nonetheless, it was hearty. My wife enjoyed her seafood tom yum soup, but be aware the portion of the soup is quite small. The N8 Crazy Noodle Dish -- I would not order again. It was very watery and the noodles were alright. The vegetables were nice and fresh, but the ginger didn't infuse the dish -- instead you would get bites and heavy flavors of it and it just didn't dance well together. My wife and I both didn't find the dish to be our style. I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu and dining in. As of now, the pho is decent and they didn't have any delivery fees which was awesome. Summer rolls are a definite yes. I need to explore the menu a bit more before I can make better recommendations. I decided to order a take out from this joint, because it was open on Easter Sunday. What a big mistake. Pad Thai was dry and lacked the tang. A small piece of lime they placed in the container could not provide the right tang. I asked for spicy, but they just added chili flakes. Come on. You are supposed to be SE Asian joint. Chili flakes? Panang Curry had the right amount of coconut, but the taste was just off. What shocked me was the price. For a lunch take out, they charged $16+ for a small portion of Beef Panang curry and charged $2.50 for the "extra vegetable" my son asked for. I ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer, the fresh veggie summer rolls, and the banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake). I truly loved every bite! The summer rolls were huge and fresh; I requested their peanut sauce instead of the "special hoison sauce" that comes with it - I'm a peanut sauce addict - and the peanut sauce was PERFECTLY balanced, peanut, tang, and sweet. I wish there was more, as i finished it with one of the two rolls that comes in an order. The shrimp was another delight, crunch coconutty and tender meat. The pancake is what caused me to seek out Saigon. I usually get Pho Dollars, but I didn't see it on their menu. Saigon's did not disappoint with its crisp-tender batter, and plentiful shrimp and pork. It came with sliced cucumber, onion and tomato, but I did miss the herbs that Pho Dollar usually provides with theirs. Overall I loved the quality and amounts per serving. Came here for lunch and had a great experience Pros: - Came here right before 3PM (still got the lunch prices) and it was empty - got seated right away and got our food within 10 minutes - Loved how they soak their water in lemon/lime - don't even need to ask for a lemon - The mild Green Curry with chicken dish was delicious and a great portion size - definitely will go for the next spice level b/c didn't taste anything for mild, and I am not a person who can handle spice - I am definitely getting the Pad See Ew next time I am there, one of the best versions I've had Cons: - None! read more
