This was my third time visiting, and this restaurant has officially become my go-to spot for pho! The broth has a nice flavor, and the service is quick. While I've experimented with a few different varieties on the menu, you really can't beat their simple staple: the steak pho (#7). I do wish there was a steak and tendon option but a plain steak pho will do! A few details to keep in mind regarding the fresh garnishes and sides: * The Good: They provide very generous portions of beautiful, fresh basil. * The Downsides: They don't provide quite enough lemons, so I feel rude asking for extra extra lemons and the bean sprouts tend to be dry, so I often find myself skipping them. * The Condiments: They pre-mix the dipping sauces into a small saucer rather than letting you mix your own ratio at the table. We REALLY enjoyed this place. We came here on Monday for dinner and kept thinking about how delicious it was so came back again on Wednesday for lunch. The first time we got the BBQ chicken sandwich, beef pho noodle soups and lemongrass vermicelli. The second time we got the vegetable spring rolls, beef pho noodles again and BBQ chicken vermicelli. 5-stars....We were wowed five years ago when this young Vietnamese family opened up their first store: Pho Waipahu. During a time when many businesses were forced to close, these proprietors actually saw customer lines weaving down the parking lot.... Causal factors? Quality, Economy, and taste! Therefore we were thrilled beyond words when they opened up their second store....Pho Kapolei! Their broth is very tasty and the vegetables are always super fresh. Service is lightning fast. Prices are very economical considering the freshness and quality. Whether in Kapolei or Waipahu, you can go wrong with this local Vietnamese eatery if you're hungry for pho or bahn mi. My personal favorite though is shrimp and squid sautéed (although for some reason, they prefer to use the Italian word "calamari"). We always shop at Foodland and pass it but wondered why we've never had it....so we finally decided to one day and it was the best decision! This location is located in Kapolei Village Center near Gina's and Mattress Firm. The parking lot is tight (IYKYK) but there are plenty of stalls. We went around lunch time on a weekday and only had two other parties. The interior was smaller than we expected, but we didn't mind - I'm not sure how crowded it gets during a weekend or lunch/dinner rush. We ordered: Thai tea, summer rolls with shrimp, medium combo pho, and large chicken pho. The Thai tea is such a generous size with the amount that you pay and it's so refreshing especially to cool your mouth off when you ask for a side of jalapenos for your pho! The summer rolls were thick and fresh but the rice paper could have done a smidge longer soaked in the water. Chicken pho was good - some parts were a little dry but it was in the broth so it wasn't too bad. The combo pho (I ordered medium) was a perfect size for me but didn't have as much tripe or tendon as I wanted. The highlight for us was probably the broth. 95% of the time I love to add hoisin or garlic to my broth, but this is probably the first time I've never had to add anything else to it because it was SUPER flavorful and the perfect amount of sweet already. Our server did not necessarily keep coming up to ask if we were okay but we noticed him keep looking at us and visually checking. Overall, this place is 5/5 and definitely would come back. Pho is one dish I can eat almost every day. My favorite place to get pho is Kapolei Pho. They are the sister company to Pho Waipahu which I also like but if I had to choose, I would definitely come to Pho Kapolei. Using your noodles... After some shopping that's most definitely cardio it was much needed break for some lunch and taking mom it's a no brainer that she wanted some pho and not quite familiar with the area I did a Yelp search to have found Pho Kapolei located in Kapolei Village Center which a lovely spot filled with so much to choose from including Foodland but thankfully we decided on Pho Kapolei and with a decent amount of free parking available it was an easy spot to choose. Walking in the restaurant is quite cute and cozy with a few tables their menu offering is quite impressive with quite a lot of varieties to choose from and and can see where I get the indecisiveness from as mom hopped from pho to summer rolls to bánh mì but ended up with Tofu Vegetable Pho and with that decided on the BBQ Chicken & Spring Rolls Vermicelli. Honestly I ordered that because she wanted spring rolls but are able to only eat one and I didn't want to order a whole set and thought it was more practical though wished that the other vermicelli dishes came with it too but it didn't and was offered to order a la carte pieces which was a turn off. She liked her pho but thought it lacked some flavor in her opinion while I did enjoy mine as the chicken was nice and juicy while spring rolls were crispy and hot the amount of sauce given was quite the insult as it didn't come close to flavor the entire dish as a one ounce ramekin is quite stingy and ended up eating my dish dry without sauce. When we were picking up dinner for my friend's husband, we decided to try this place out since we were craving Vietnamese food. She's never had a vermicelli bowl so i had to have her try one. The spring rolls were so crunchy and yummy! The sauce could have been more potent, it tasted a little watered down/lacked flavor. I like my sauce to be a little more fishy. I have to say that this is one of my favorite places on the west side of Oahu for Pho, Tofu Pad Thai, Lemon grass tofu sandwich and Shrimp Papaya salad. The food, price, and service are all great. Everything is tasty, affordably priced, and quick friendly service. Menu is decent sized with a variety of dishes with the usual classic Vietnamese dishes and boba drinks. I normally go for the Shrimp Papaya Salad. It's a healthy and fresh menu item. Other tables around me seem to be ordering Pho. Pho appears large and generously filled with lots of veggies and meats. By the size of them, you will not leave hungry. Parking is convenient and free as it's located in the Foodland Shopping center. The restaurant is quiet and small to where you can have a conversation. First time customers to this hole in the wall gem in Kapolei. We came here because we were craving Vietnamese food and this place hit the spot! You can dine in and get served quickly. Instead we opt for takeout. Food was reasonably priced with each plate being more than $10, which seems average nowadays. For these 3 plates, the total was under $50. Obviously the spring rolls went by fast. As for the other plates, they were big portions so we were able to have leftovers for another day. I've been coming to this place periodically especially on my lunch break. The Pho and Spring Rolls are good but the one that really steals the show are the Vietnamese Style Marinated Pork Chops. Our normal pho place was unfortunately closed and we found this place based on other yelp reviews. Establishment is super clean and will lit! We were a party for 4 and were assisted by a friendly worker with water and menus. We ordered our food and within 5 mins our appetizers were here! Just tried their lemongrass tofu bahn mi sandwich. Delicious. The French bread was perfect. And fresh. With the crunchy chewy outside crust, and soft inside...but still easy to bite into and chew. You know it's good bread when it's got all the right textures. The key to a good sandwich is the bread. The flavor and crisp of the tofu were so good.
