Pho is life so I like to try Pho at any place I'm close by at the moment. I happen to be in Richardson and there a place called Pho is for Lovers so we had to try it. Keep in mind this is located in a shopping strip next to a Whole Foods so I didn't have high hopes for the broth. I was pleasantly surprise. The broth had some of traditional seasoning you would find at any Vietnamese restaurant but it wasn't as rich and beefy as I like. They didn't have the option for combination pho so the beef was just brisket, filet mignon, and beef balls. No tripe or tendon. It's one of those cafes where you order at the counter and sit down so the service was so so. After we received our meals no one came to check to see if we needed anything else. The menu is very abridged. So if you only like a certain type of dish, check their menu before deciding to dine here. It was too hot to get the pho. So we had the shrimp vermicelli and the papaya salad. The vermicelli came with an egg roll. The papaya salad was very minimal. I'm used to it having way more ingredients. But it still tasted good. Different, but good. Also, keep their hours in mind. They close a little earlier than I expected. I felt a little rushed. And they also had little odds and ends on sale. It felt weird seeing that. Wow. Absolutely delicious. I love how light and filling the Pho is. Meaning you feel full but not gross lol. You can tell the ingredients are very fresh. Presentation is excellent as you can see. Bun Bo review from a Hue and also CA transplant. 3 stars out of 5. There is no hock or blood cube. The sliced meat was great though-tender. The broth was very weak and overpowered by chili. It was not average spice. It was too spicy for a bowl of bun Bo. A child would not be able to eat this. Not sure why every place in TX makes bun Bo spicy instead of letting the customer add it. When you go inside, there's pictures on the walls, nice ambiance. There are plenty of indoor seating, as well as outdoor seating. I ordered takeout for Korean BBQ banh mi and it was so delicious! Although I've never been to Vietnam, I could taste all the flavors. The cilantro, carrots, the juicy meat with the spicy mayonnaise sauce made my mouth water. I devoured the sandwich! They are doing a good job of practicing social distancing as there is plenty of space between tables and the cashier area has the plexiglass. The food was good I don't have anything negative to say. Good food & good service. I come to this spot from time to time for lunch & never disappoints. My usual order is Seafood Pho with an order of Egg Rolls & passion fruit drink (delicious). The food here is always fresh, the egg rolls especially crunchy, hot & delicious! You can tell they make it when you order it which is great. The staff is friendly & food is served pretty quickly. The seafood pho has a nice kick to it & good flavor, has calamari, scallops & shrimp. The portions are fulfilling & you can tell the quality is in their ingredients. I've been a long time customer of the original location in Dallas off of Greenville but now live here in Richardson, so decided this'll be much more convenient! My kids were craving chicken pho, so I ordered it to-go as usual... I was so frustrated though. It was a simple order only one chicken pho but they managed to give me the completely wrong pho, one my kids would not eat. Of course not suspecting anything didn't realize this until I got home. When I called them to air out my frustrations I was met with a half-assed "sorry" nothing else!! I tried to see how we could remedy the situation as I'd just spent 30mins driving and paid $14 for a meal that my kids weren't going to eat! Only after pressure was I offered a free appetizer on my next visit... gee thanks for understanding my plight! I just think the staff needs more education on how to keep a customer a customer! I placed an order for bun bo hue over the phone yesterday as I had quite the hankering. The lady on the phone seemed a bit curt, but the young lady at the counter was quite nice! The first thing I unpacked when I got home were the garnishes. You do get red cabbage here which is a plus. Red cabbage really helps complete the dish. The broth was excellent, borderline addicting. I remember being very disappointed when I finally ran out. It wasn't too salty, had a nice settle sweetness from the rock salt, and was just spicy enough. The cilantro garnish really added a nice element to the dish. The vermicelli noodles were average. I can't tell if they were slightly overdone, or just a noodle that I don't really prefer. There was also no pig knuckle or blood cake in the soup, which was disappointing, but seems to be the norm at many places these days. One cut of meat (darker) was like the traditional BBH meat and was good, the lighter cut was very dry and tasted more like pork. The Vietnamese sausage was excellent, I wonder if it was homemade. Either way, they should keep that the way it is. If you're looking for an authentic bowl of BBH, I'd say this may not be the closest rendition, but it is still a very good copy cat. I would absolutely get this dish here again, but next time I think I will try the pho everyone else is raving about. read more

The restaurant itself is beautiful and very clean! The ordering process is very straightforward. There is a line and a counter to place your order and grab a table number. The restaurant is self seating, and there was plenty of space! However, there were two main negatives: (1) The food is not very good. We ordered the beef pho (has only one kind) and the grilled pork banh mi. The broth of the pho is not authentic and tastes almost like instant powder broth. The best way I can describe the meat is that it tasted like the hamburger meat that is served on pizza. If you are looking for the authentic taste of pho and its bone broth, I don't believe you would enjoy this restaurant. The banh mi was alright, however if you go to Pho Ok or Pho An just a mile away, you can get more delicious banh mi for $3.50-4.25 compared to this location ($7.50). Pho Ok and Pho An both have very good authentic pho options at better prices ($7-9) whereas Pho is for Lovers offers less tasty, limited options for a higher price ($10.50). (2) The service was not very good. I had a negative experience with one female employee who gave us a rude attitude when trying to bus our table. Despite there being ample tables open, she also kept poking her head out of the kitchen to see if we had left yet. It was perplexing to say the least. The restaurant is trendy and very clean, so if you are a newbie for pho, I think you will enjoy this location! You can either slurp down the seeds with the juice (which I did^-^) or leave them down at the bottom of the cup. At other establishments, you can usually choose your own meats. I tried their KBBQ banh mi, and it wasn't very good. It just didn't wow me nor was I in any hurry to devour it.
