I've been to a Pho in the Box in Grapevine. This Keller location is a bit farther from where I work. But if it's a bowl of delicious soup noodles, I don't mind the extra distance. The storefront looks not that appealing, to be honest. It seems there are limited parking spots in front of the restaurant. But the inside gives you a different feel. The decor is simplistic, bright, and clean. The tables and chairs look like made of bamboo (not really, just the looks). The style is primarily self-serve. You order right at the counter. After that, you yourself get the beverage you order and utensils as well. They bring you the food though. I ordered the typical beef noodle soup. I know if this signature item is done right, everything else will fall into place. The noodle soup comes in a black plastic bowl (not in a box as you might expect), together with the basil leaves, bean sprouts, lemon slice, and jalapeño in a styrofoam box. The broth tastes just fine as I'm expecting a distinct, intense beef bone and other herb flavors. The beef slices are tender, and the noodles are fine. One thing I would like to see is to put the beef on top of the noodles. Since I yelp and take pictures of everything I eat, I have to dig up the beef to show people I'm really eating noodles with beef. I like the oriental music they play. I don't know what genre it is, but it's soothing and pleasant. One more thing: If you're in a hurry, you can just order a take-out at the drive-thru. This place embraces the concept of pho to go. When you order take-out, the rice noodles are placed in a black, plastic bowl with a lot of depth, and topped with dry meat (brisket/steak/chicken), white onions, cilantro, and green onions. In a separate container, you have the sriracha & hoisin sauces, bean sprouts, lime, and jalapeno; let me just say, the quantity of these side items are portioned less than the average pho restaurants. Of course, the beef-based broth also comes in a separate container to avoid the noodles from expanding and becoming soggy. However, this renders the rice noodle to be extremely dry, so be sure to thoroughly mix the noodles with the broth to break the hard knots. I had the P1 (pho with sliced steak aka eye round steak). The meat portion was generous; it felt endless during the consumption process. They definitely did not skimp on the rice noodle either. The broth is an essential key component in making or breaking good pho. The broth at Pho in the Box was salty and riding on the bland side, not the rich flavors I was anticipating. I dare say very similar to instant pho, but I am slightly biased having eaten so much pho in my lifetime. Overall, this is a convenient idea, especially when you need to get a quick fix of pho. They serve everything in plastic, including the utensils. There is a drive thru, but I see the majority of the people walking in to order. FYI that they are closed on Tuesdays. read more

Update: We went in person to pick up our order and asked for extra meat and ate the meal within 10 minutes of receiving it. There was indeed extra meet this time AND it was much better. So, we can chalk up the lack of extra meat in our Ubereats delivery order to a mistake. Moral of the story. I am going to start out with one of my top pet peeves, mopping the floor with bleach, while customers are dining. I would have gone 4 stars, I'm a fan, save for the nasal assault. So Keller has bonafide pho again, and I gotta say, it's pretty good. We each had a bowl of beef pho. I had meatballs with the chili lime sauce added to mine (see photo). Thuy went sliced steak, which looked rare in the picture, but it wasn't rare when it was delivered to our table. Maybe it went in rare, but was cooked by the time it got to our table. If you want rare, I suggest ordering it on the side. I would rate the pho very good. Thuy thought it was a little cloudy, a turn off for a true pho connoisseur, but she liked the flavor. And there is more than pho, there are grilled options too (pork, chicken, shrimp) that you can combo with rice, lettuce or rice noodles. There are some nice flavored tea options too. Some are milk teas. About my rating. I would have gone 4 stars on this first visit, but the smell of bleach killed a star. Pho is delicate, and does not pair well with bleach. I have no doubt we will be back, so hopefully next time the floor won't get mopped with diners present. PitB is definitely worth checking out, and is a lot closer than Haltom City. So Glad this place opened by my house, Keller doesn't have many good dining options, unless you like fast food. There are some pros and cons about this place. If your Vietnamese you probably won't like this place as much as it caters more towards the American population of Keller. But it was decent, you won't have to drive far. It's very casual self serve. I had the pho beef combo. It had brisket steak and meat ball. The broth was hearty and flavorful. Not used to the plastic bowl though, kind of throws off any fond memories of eating this home-style meal. I hope they do well, will come back if I want some quick pho. Maybe do take out. read more

I ordered the shrimp spring rolls first - great flavor with some mint and green onion in it. A little more lettuce than I like, but I just pulled excess out. Peanut sauce was hot and great too. I also got the pho- no meat - and I have to say this is the best pho in Keller for sure. It's definitely better than any Vietnamese restaurant in the NFW area that I've had - it reminds me a lot of Clay Pot's broth (a Vietnamese staple in Waco). The peanut sauce for the Spring Rolls wasn't good either. Everything you are served with is disposable; the plates, forks, cups.
