I really appreciated that. The chicken and rice bento box was delicious too. I expected the chicken to have a little more breading, but it was still tender and full of flavor. I ordered the tempura shrimp roll with brown rice. However, instead of getting brown rice I got extra crab rolls. I am not complaining about that mistake. I did get popsticker and spring roll, my coworker that went with me didn't like the spring roll so I didnt eat it and the popsticker was amazing. Will definitely be back for more. When I sat down to eat my Tempura Poke Bowl, Gyoza, Egg Roll, and California Roll, every bite of every item was pleasing my taste buds. Then I ate the Gyoza and I had only tasted that particular recipe for Gyoza before. It was from a gentleman who used to own a restaurant right by my house that sold it and I had not seen him in over 7 years. Then I heard a voice from the kitchen and knew it was in fact him! I think I found my new chill sushi spot! After moving here from the West Coast, I have not been able to find good seafood or sushi that tastes fresh. Came here with my friend for our lunch break. Service was friendly and fast. We got sushi combos with miso soup , two different rolls , a side salad , gyoza , and an eggroll for only $14 . Our orders literally came out in five minutes . Nestled in a plaza off Beltline and 635 is this amazing establishment serving poke bowls. What is a poke bowl? A poke bowl is essentially rice, sashimi fish (however there are other choices like tofu, chicken, shrimp) with veggies and many many toppings. Start off my filling out an order form, hand it over to someone at the front counter, and wait (very short wait) to get your order! There is a condiment section to add more flavor to what is a already delicious bowl. Fresh ingredients is what you can expect to be served. I work in the area, and this is my go spot for great lunch. There's a place called Cbowls Poke on Midway just north of LBJ. I assume it is related to this place because they have the same name and the same premise that involves filling out a checklist with your order and exchanging that checklist of a bowl of fish with rice/salad and toppings. If they're not related, probably someone should consider a law suit. I can't claim to be a expert on poke or the current poke fad that is sweeping the nation. I can say I've been to a few poke places around town, and Cbowls is my favorite concept. In general, I like the whole idea of made to order & built to spec whatever--be it burritos, sandwiches, or bibimbap. It doesn't work when the food isn't great (see: Freebird's, Noon/Vert's Kebap), but fortunately this food is good. So that's a win. My husband and I have been on a Poke Bowl kick as of late. It is one of those meals that is delicious and healthy. Since we were in the area, we wanted to finally try out their Poke. It was just a little after 1500. When we arrived, we received zero attention from the gal behind the counter. She was busy cleaning, but come on- at least say hi. We picked up the order sheets and just decided to figure it out. There was a sign out front that they offer ramen, and on the order sheet it showed veggie ramen as an option. My hubby ordered this and I opted for the build-your-own-bowl of poke. We we handed our orders to the employee (again, no word was spoken out of her mouth) and she looked at them and told us the ramen is not a carry-out option. Um, ok...above the checked ramen was dine in or carry out. Whatevs. He quickly chose what he wanted in his poke since he couldn't have the ramen. Boo While we waited for our order, we visited the small Poke Toppings counter. They had a few options but they also had some sauces, so we took some of the hot sauce home to try.While we grabbed some chopsticks, another employee was mopping/playing on his phone/watching us since we were preventing him from mopping. Overall felt flavoring was somewhat bland, could have used more spice on that spicy ahi tuna and tempura should not be listed on the menu.
