Around the time of this review, I had recently tried a poke place in Dallas that created some pretty high expectations. Nonetheless, Go Fish Poke lived up in its own way. Some friends and I were going to a concert close by. We decided to come here before it began. We were lucky with parking here on a Friday night. We walked in and got our sheets at the side to make our bowls. I got a medium bowl with half tuna half salmon on sushi rice. I don't quite remember what exactly I got but I do remember taro chips, seaweed salad, crispy onions, and jalapenos. After a few minutes, our orders were ready. The bowls were all quite hefty. They did not skimp at all. It was a challenge itself to mix everything. First bite to last, it was all delicious. With my bowl, I loved having the contrast of textures. The firm and smooth bites of fish with the crispy chips and onions all backed by some hearty sushi rice... it was definitely worth the price. What happened to this place? I usually get the Alaskan roll but decided to try the poke to go. The order system is on a piece of paper and you just check what you want. I did that and the bowl of poke I got was such a fail in multiple different ways. 1. I ordered it with sushi rice. I got some sort of brown rice that was extremely dry and clumpy. This was during the lunch rush too. Brown rice for sushi purposes on its own is already pretty inedible, but combined with the texture made it pretty horrible. 2. I ordered mango on mine. Clearly the fruit was just chopped as a check mark of tasks during prep with absolutely no regard to whether or not it was edible. This is August and mangos are in season, but what they gave me was light yellow, hard, horrible mango. Mango prep is usually slicing and one can usually check ripeness just by cutting it, so it failed like, multiple checks to make it's way onto the prep table. 3. The cooked shrimp still had its vein in it, making it pretty unappetizing to eat. 4. I checked free miso soup box but didn't get the soup in my to go bag. I'm not that sad about this but just more to pile on here. I'm pretty much never getting the poke here ever again. Management, can you do something about the prep of your food? Like if the mango isn't ripe, just don't put it on the menu. And having brown sushi rice as a default is disgusting. read more

This was by far the worst poke I've ever had... Ever. The fish was tough to eat. Specifically the Cajun Salmon. The kale they add is super chunky so it's hard to mix in with the entire bowl. Upon entering, you grab a form near the front door, and fill it out detailing exactly what ingredients you want in your poke bowl. This place has the best poke bowl I've had in a long time! They don't skimp on any protein at all unlike a lot of poke places. There's a few outdoor seatings and lots of seating inside. To order, there are sheets of paper where you mark what you want. Then hand it to the cashier and pay. You seat yourself while they give you a buzzer for when your food is ready. Free lemon water and condiments near the back right of the restaurants and bathroom area. There's a build your own poke bowl, bento boxes, etc.. we ordered a pick 2 protein poke bowl (big portions that comes with miso soup, and so good) and a bento box (huge portions that comes with miso soup, salad, 2 wontons, & 2 veggie eggrolls. Very yummy.) The employees are nice and so helpful. They clean up after every customer and keeps the place spotless. After you are done with your meal, clean up after yourself and throw trash away near the front left entrance. Put bowls on top of shelf.
