Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. The fried rice was decent, but I can't say much for the almond chicken. It had almost no flavor, there was no sauce, and some of the vegetables did not seem fresh. The celery in particular looked like it had lost its color, which honestly made me hesitant to eat much of the dish. The chicken itself also didn't really taste like chicken to me. I had a similar experience with the sesame chicken. It looked like sesame chicken, but again, the meat just didn't taste right to me. The broccoli and beef was probably the best dish we ordered and had the most flavor, although even that was pretty mild. Overall, a lot of the food had a very bland, almost boiled or older-meat taste that I really couldn't put my finger on. I probably wouldn't eat here again. If you're on a budget, the portions are decent, the service is fast and courteous, and you do get a good amount of food--but for me, the lack of flavor and concerns about the freshness outweighed those positives.

We stopped by on a Sunday on July 5. It was packed even at 2:30 pm but that is a good thing because food was moving. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a better looking on the inside than it was on the outside. It had a cafeteria feel and several customers have complained about the worn seats and tables. It was fine by us since we knew this was not fine dining, They had plenty of hot items and the temperatures were pretty hot for the hot item preventing germ spread. I did not dare to try the cold items such as the sushi, sashimi, and raw oysters. Other customers have fared fine. The food was tasty but it also a place of gluttony. The one off putting thing was that when I went to bathroom, someone had thrown up in the sink. I pushed on because this was not the restaurant's fault. Some folks complain that they charge for toddlers. I did not mind because their prices were so low, I was wondering how they were making a profit. I returned to the bathroom later, and this time, someone had thrown up on the floor. The staff was cleaning all of this mess rather quickly. This is place of gluttony as customers stuffed their faces. Chances are that they had been in the sun and drank a little too much alcohol before they came. It was interesting experience since most of the customers seemed to be Mexican and African Immigrants. I liked the vibe of the place even though I was a little cautious at first. Go check it out of you have an open mind and aren't grossed out easily. I am not sure if I will return, but I am glad I at least tried this place out.

When we tried our drinks, mine was fine but hers barely had any flavor--it tasted watered down, like the ice had melted, and it wasn't sweet at all. We went up to the counter and kindly asked if we could switch it out for a different flavor. The worker at the front was polite and said she'd need to check with the manager. However, when she told the manager, the manager made a face, walked to the back, and said "she's trippin'"--then continued making faces. As a manager of a beverage spot myself, I found that extremely unprofessional. Wouldn't you want to resolve the issue, especially when a customer is politely asking? That's how you build loyalty and keep people coming back. To make things worse, the worker who remade the drink also seemed upset, acting like it was coming out of her own pocket--making comments like "bruh" to her coworker. Overall, the customer service left a really bad impression. A simple, kind response from the manager could've turned this experience around completely.

I've also tried the Águila Skillet--the nopales are delicious, the beef fajitas are incredibly tender, and the handmade tortillas are some of the best I've had. The caldo de mariscos has the perfect amount of spice, the menudo is always delicious, and the caldo de res tastes like a comforting homemade meal. Their pechuga is juicy, flavorful, and tastes freshly made. The tostadas de ceviche are outstanding, and the crispy tripa tacos are cooked perfectly with just the right crunch. And don't skip the drinks--the micheladas are excellent, and the mango shot is one of my favorites. Everything I've tried has been delicious. The quality, flavor, and authentic Mexican cooking keep me coming back year after year.
