This is my new fave Viet restaurant in Surrey. It's a bit hidden but worth visiting as all their dishes are homemade. Very bright and colourful inside. Carol was our server and she was so warm and welcoming. Some items I recommend: Guava lemonade: new on their menu, I loved the citrusy guava flavour, it was so refreshing Crispy taro spring rolls: I haven't seen these anywhere else and the batter was light and flaky. Short ribs & steak pho: this bowl was huge with so much meat and the short rib fell off the bone. I also love how clean their pho broth is. Chicken glass noodle: this is my fave dish and there's no carbs! Again the broth tasted clean with lots of garlic. It tasted so healthy with strips of white meat and lots of green onion. I would order this on a cold day or when I'm sick. Deep fried banana: new on their menu, this tasted just like the one I purchased from a street vendor in Vietnam. read more

Cozy little place in Fraser Heights in Surrey. Great family restaurant with nice service and great food! The pho are really good with nice serving sizes, the rolls are delicious and so are the vermicelli dishes! I used to live in LA where there were amazing Vietnamese restaurants and this compares. Just don't go afterschool - there's a high school across the street and lunches and after school, the place is a little loud! read more

I think this is one of the cleanest, best pho places I have been to! The broth is a bit different than other Pho restaurants, but it tastes really clean--I'm guessing they don't use as much MSG as other restaurants. Also they give you flat rice noodles, not the thin ones which are much more authentic to real Vietnamese Pho. Also, they give you a lot of meat with your dish and your own serving of bean sprouts, thai basil, lime, and pepper unlike other places where you have to share! The spring rolls are also really good here and the presentation is really pretty! They serve the food also relatively quickly and the service is great whenever I go here (I've been here 15+ times!) To top it off, the tea tastes AMAZING! It taste like a sweet corn tea but doesn't have a sugar flavour. I can't really describe it, but I always drink at least 3 cups whenever I go here. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this location is. The modern ambiance was a good change from the typical hole in the wall feel a lot of the Vietnamese restaurants share. We stopped by for dinner and were seated right away. Tea and menus were dropped off. We ordered the house special pho, fresh summer salad rolls and a grilled lemongrass chicken banh mi. Food arrived fairly quickly. The salad rolls were wrapped well with noodles, Vietnamese ham, shrimp and a generously sized green leaf lettuce for each portion. I definitely got my veggies intake there. Peanut sauce was pretty good. The pho looked good. The broth was light tasting but flavourful. My date always asks for no greens or onions and it seems to always to be a challenge at most restaurants as you can see a speck of greens left behind. The noodles were perfect. There was a decent amount of toppings. The banh mi was good. I loved how there was a solid amount of pickled carrots and radish. There was an okay amount of grilled chicken. Bread was served warm. Prices are reflective of Surrey pricing. They accept debit or cash only. There is plenty of parking on the plaza. read more

Finally, a great pho joint in my hood! The previous owner created piss poor pho so when I saw that it was under new ownership, I tried them out, and the food rivaled my favorite spots on kingsway. The decor is a touch all over the place but it was spotless and the service/love behind the food was top notch. Had a large pho brisket and spring rolls, the noodles came out quite a bit wider than most pho joints which was a very welcome surprise. Spring rolls were good, though nothing to scream about. The owner really cares about her restaurant and I spoke with her for a bit after my meal. She runs the front of house and her hubby runs the kitchen, family owned through and through. This place is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. A real nice addition to the Fraser heights neighborhood. read more

Comparing to other Vietnamese places within a 15km radius, I probably won't be coming here other than to support this local business as I live within the area just because of its price. Grilled Cured Pork Bánh Mì Review: I think this place made the Bánh Mì really pretty ahah and it tasted really good too :) I'm no viet food expert but I think the food that comes from here is pretty well made. They gave a decent portion for the price and I felt pretty full after eating just half. The quality of the ingredients was also good and fresh. If you don't like coriander then tell them before hand to not add it because I don't like coriander at all but it was in the Bánh Mì so I just ate it anyways. The meat was flavourful and had a good texture. The pickled vegetables were good to make the meal fresh and appetizing. Overall I would come again and order this Side note: this place seems to give a lot of food for the price that you pay so that's good because when I went to eat pho here before it was hard for me to even finish a regular This may be a good option if you want a quick, easy, good quality meal! The snacks and pho here are decent, I didn't find anything "outstanding" in their menu's selections. The rice dishes are fresh and appetizing. The restaurant is very clean and looks way nicer post-renovation (with new management?). Service is quick and a generous amount of staff were available during the times I came here to dine in. However, last week when I ordered 2 deep fried spring rolls for take-out they had given me dark burnt ones. Very disappointed they would think these are considered edible and deceiving their customers who ofcourse wouldn't check until they get home. Good value for salad roll too!! but one point off for asking for a seperate bowl (to share a large between 2 ppl) and being told that there are no other bowls other than the dinky child size bowl... I'm a student in the neighbourhood, as well as an ex-frequent customer. Though their pho was always watery and soggy, I came for the convenience. Unfortunately, their establishment has become so terrible that I feel the need to warn others. Food tastes like it's been sitting out for 20 minutes prior to serving you, the wait is long, the service is barely even there, the owners are always loudly eating and chatting in Vietnamese to their friends in the back corner. They also started yelling at me one time when I tried to complain about the poor quality of my pho, then they made me pay for it, and when I tried to ask for a new one they kicked me out. Don't bother with this place if you're vegan. There is absolutely nothing here for you. Maybe in the future? The subtitle on their door says "The Hero" but they would be a true hero if it was an all plant based restaurant. There is a vegan Vietnamese restaurant in Burnaby on 10th called Paradise noodle house and everything tastes great, so it is possible. read more

If I could put no stars I would! But I can't, so here's a star your restaurant doesn't deserve. I've visited this restaurant many times since I've moved here (about 7years ago), not gonna lie, but because It's in my area and it's convenient not because the food is great. A quick over view / tldr : soggy noodles, watery soup, bad taste, barely washed utensils, bad service, manager yelled at me because I had a complaint about their food. Usually when I order, the food is just.. Yknow, 'eatable'. (that's not a word, I know) Today my friends had invited me to eat pho, we waited 20-30minutes for our food. When I finally got mine, the noodles had already soaked up half the soup, so I could tell it's been sitting out. I ordered tripe, which is extra so I forced myself to eat that, I honestly barely touched the dish. The noodles soaked up all the soup before I could even get through half my beef balls, which I didn't finish because they tasted stale. I didn't want to complain and start a commotion because I knew they probably wouldn't do anything about it. When i finally did complain though, I was right about the service. The manager actually yelled at me and told me to get out and never come back, I even had to still pay for the food I didn't even eat! I will never come back to this restaurant again, I'm extremely appalled by their service and food. Even my sister told me hers didn't taste that great and she just ate it because I was paying for her and she didn't want to waste my money. ordered on skip and one of the meals was missing, we called the restaurant and the lady offered to bring it to us herself; which out of the many times food has been missing from other restaurants, they always just say "talk to skip for a refund" but no, this lady drove it over herself and gave us a free iced tea for the inconvenience. the food was delicious and very good portion size; my parents always only share one meal. despite the initial mistake (which everyone makes mistakes), she redeemed the company and made it right ! love this place, will order again ! read more

This has quickly became a favourite. As cleanliness goes this has to be the cleanest pho restaurant I've ever been too. It's also slightly cheaper then other places however the portions are a lot smaller in comparison but the Pho is delicious. They also have the reusable chopsticks but not to fear they put the eating ends towards the bottom away from those unclean fingers of strangers. read more

For people living in the community, Pho Hung is a great place for Pho. I wouldn't say it's worth it for people outside of Fraser Heights though. Fraser Heights is a community that is lacking in the cuisines of the majority populations of Koreans, Taiwanese and Chinese. Pho Hung opened in 2004 after the Taiwanese restaurant YuanYuan (and before it Cup and Plate) closed down. As other reviewers have noted the portions are smaller, but that isn't a bad thing. Some pho places may be better but they sometimes give way too much. The soup is light and sweet, and I don't think they put a lot of MSG in it at all. The meat isn't too fatty either. Pho Hung has a lighter taste than most other restaurants. I highly recommend the spicy seafood pho and Bun Bo Hue. read more

I'm a student at the nearby high school. When I came out to buy food with 3 of my friends. 3/4 of us bought food and one person didn't, the manager came out and told us not to eat there anymore if we all weren't going to buy food. He continued to stare death arrows at us. When the food came the pho was good, but the quantity of the take out menu was a bare minimum. I paid 5 dollars for just rice, a roll, and a pop. I could've paid 5 bucks from another restaurant and the quantity would almost be doubled. Secondly to food took a long time to come out, it took 20 mins just to make take out; comparing to other restaurants they only take max. 5 mins. I recommend not buying anything from the take out menu and just go to another store. I feel outraged and uncomfortable going back there again. If I did have the choice I would give this restaurant no stars because they have the worst customer service that I have ever seen and the food tastes watered down and old. When I first walked into the restaurant I did not get a warm greeting at all! They didn't say hi or welcome or anything! Just stared at me and I felt so awkward and unwelcome. At first I felt like I didn't belong there because I'm Caucasian and normally I'm not the type of person to jump to these conclusions. But as my experience continued there I felt more and more unwelcome. After the horrible entrance my boyfriend and I sat ourselves down because the lady at the counter was too busy talking with her Vietnamese friend. We had to wave to her to get her attention and come over to take our orders (we go to pho restaurants regularly so we already knew what we wanted). While she was taking our orders she was unhelpful and seemed like she didn't want to be talking to us. So needless to say there was no exchanging of pleasantry's. After a couple of minutes she came back with our water, which I was so glad to see because I was dying of thirst. However, the the glass didn't even look cleaned properly because there was oil/fingerprint marks on it and the water wasn't even clear. I was so grossed out I went to the nester's market beside the restaurant and bought myself a drink. After waiting 30 minutes we finally got our food, which was only two bowls of pho. My broth was very watered down and not even that hot. The beef balls also tasty funny, like it had been sitting out for awhile; and the noddles were pretty soggy. Therefore, its pretty obvious that it had been sitting around all day. I don't even know why their customer service is so bad and slow because the lady was just talking to her friend the whole time. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the worst part for me was hearing her friend loudly chewing and smacking his lips the whole time. It was revolting!!! So by the time I actually got my food I didn't even want to eat it! and I couldn't really eat it in peace or have a nice conversation with my boyfriend because they were talking very loud in a small restaurant. So we basically just left and didn't eat that much. I'm not the type of person to complain but I really wanted my money back. We moved into the Fraser Heights neighbourhood 11 years ago and have been regular customers of Pho Hung, mostly for the convenience as the pho is just okay (lemongrass chicken is pretty decent). I wouldn't call the staff friendly, smiles are not on the menu that's for sure. The owner husband is usually eating in the corner of the restaurant whenever we have dined here, often slurping away and talking loudly in Vietnamese to his wife who works in the kitchen. Last night, my family went in for dinner at 6pm on a Friday night, 2 adults and two kids 5&7. There was one other occupied table in the whole restaurant with just a single customer. We put in our order for 3 large pho and the lemongrass chicken dinner, a $40 order. It was the owner husband taking our order and I say "and two tea and two water please", then my husband says "actually make that two tea and four water." The owner says "no, it is tea OR water" and flips to the first page of the menu where it is also written. My husband says "really? I can't order free tap water?" and the owner walked away at that point. We thought, okay, he said his peace but he will make the customer happy and bring four water and two tea. Well, he did not. We got two tea and two water. My husband said "we wanted four water, we'd like two more" and the owner says "then I will charge you $1 for the tea" and we said "you are essentially going to charge us for free tap water." It did not register with the owner at all. At this point we were so baffled that we said "okay, please cancel our order we are leaving." As we were leaving I chimed in "we have been loyal customers for many years and this is your customer service? Just terrible. We won't be back and we will also tell our neighbours to not come." They owner just kept saying "it's okay" and apathetic to the whole encounter. I don't have high hopes for their business give the the just okay food and the poor service. read more
