Ahhhh, the smell of fish sauce!!! Like seriously, you get the Vietnam vibes at this place from the smells alone. I typically hang out around Maiko and have driven past this place quite a few times but finally decided to stop in and check it out after reading reviews. I must say the pho here is better than many other neighboring spots I've been to. Atmosphere The atmosphere here is not necessarily formal nor is it over casual. It seems like there was a lot of thought put into the overall look and feel but I couldn't really put my finger on what kind of look and feel. On one hand, you have a painted city on the walls with streetlights everywhere I didn't get much info on this so im a bit confused about what city. Maybe I'll blog about this later once I do research. The streetlights gave a London type of feel (I'm not sure if they turn on or not). On the other hand, you have images of Wine so I'm not sure if they serve wines here (I didn't see it on the menu). But the PHO!!! I didn't know what to order so defaulting to the P1 I got a pretty big bowl of soup and was actually surprised on the flavor overall. I love the way the broth was done and how the meats were cut. The thickness of the cuts was really exciting to see. If you don't know, these are usually weighed and cut paper-thin so it looks like your getting a lot but the weight is pretty low. This was not the case here. Once I was done with the meats and noodles, I was stuffed. Beef Wrap was Meh... Anyhow, I got the beef wrap which is more like a beef springroll. Just here to complain about the to-go portion. Only one size for to-go which is a large. This does not look like a large and you're paying almost $12 for this. I picked up a large pho to cure my sickness and in hopes a large could last me at least two meals since I have no appetite. The food was delicious. The broth was very tasty, and the meat extremely tender. The inside of the restaurant is very pretty, warm and quiet. Also very spacious. Pho House gets 3 Yelp stars out of me, which means "A-OK." Despite its name, this restaurant serves a variety of Vietnamese cuisine including rice, non-pho noodle, and vegetarian dishes. Its grand opening was September 6, 2016. The restaurant is located in the Mall Corners shopping center in Duluth with other popular Asian restaurants like Iron Age, Ming's BBQ, and Haru Ichiban. It's in the old Chi Mac Bar & Grill space, which used to be Rice Cake Factory before that. The interior is spacious, bright, and clean. When we visited on Friday night of grand opening week, the place was packed with a short wait for walk-ins. The setup here is pretty much like other pho restaurants around town with a casual, open layout and lots of tables. It's great for groups. There's banquette seating along the walls (not a common sight at pho restaurants) as well as a couple, glass-enclosed, semi-private dining rooms (holdovers from the previous tenants). The menu is pretty standard for a Vietnamese restaurant in metro Atlanta with items like Vietnamese egg rolls and spring rolls ($3 per set of 2 rolls), com (rice dishes, $8.99-$11.99 each), bun and mi (rice vermicelli and egg noodle dishes, $8.99-$11.99 each), pho noodle soup ($8.99 medium, $9.99 large, $11.99 extra large), and vegetarian rolls, soups, and noodle dishes ($8.99 each). Drinks include ca phe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk, $2.99), lemonade, juices, soy bean milk, Thai tea, and Vietnamese lemonade drinks ($2.99-$3.50 each). Berries Blast Lemonade ($3.50) I've been told by a Vietnamese friend that Pho House's goi cuon is authentic in terms of its ingredients. It's not fluffed up with lettuce and other stuff. The spring rolls normally come with pork and shrimp, but I was able to get an order made with just pork for me (since I'm allergic to shrimp). The rolls were meaty and filling. Other ingredients included bun (rice vermicelli noodles), fresh veggies, and chives wrapped in rice paper rolls with a creamy brown peanut dipping sauce on the side. The fried chicken wings were simple yet tasty. Par for the course I'd say. I don't have much to say about them other than they're worth a shot if you like wings (dry). The first thing I noticed about the pho was the broth wasn't as flavorful as I hoped. It was actually kind of bland. I think the broth at my favorite pho restaurant, Pho Dai Loi (#2), is better. All of the ingredients seemed to be fresh and of decent quality though. Customary veggie sides included basil, culantro, bean sprouts, sliced jalapeno, and lime wedges. We also requested a bowl of fat on the side. This isn't on the menu, but it can be ordered at a lot of pho restaurants to make the broth richer. The fat comes with spring onion roots. Yum. As for the beef ribs, there was one piece (about two ribs) on the bone. It was good. I'm not used to having bone-in meat in my pho and honestly, I'm just as happy with my pho without it since I don't have an annoying bone to pick around. If you've never had pho with beef ribs before, I suggest trying it just to see what it's like. One thing I wish Pho House offers in its pho is tripe. They do not have it here. When we first got the lemonades, they were too sweet. We told our server and they took them back and diluted them. They tasted better after that. The passion fruit lemonade came with chia seeds while the berry lemonade had bits of real berry in it. Not bad, but again, quite sweet. Service was terrific. Lots of friendly people work here, including Denise, one of the owners. TL;DR - If you're looking for pho and other Vietnamese cuisine in Gwinnett, Pho House is worth checking out. Came here to eat with a few friends before our next outing. I joined late as I was coming from work. I sat down and was told that I needed to press the bell on the table for service. This was very new to me. I placed my order and then had to press the bell again for a glass to be able to drink the water that was at the table. I've never been to a restaurant that has this set up so I'm not sure if this is normal but I would have liked more attentiveness from the servers. I decided to just order a fried egg roll. I am not a huge fan of egg rolls but I enjoyed every last bite of these. My friends all ordered Pho and Stew and they each enjoyed their meals. Came here on a late night with my boyfriend since I was craving Pho. We hadn't been here yet so decided to try it out. It's in the same shopping plaza as Haru Ichiban in case you have trouble finding it. It's fairly new, recently opened I believe. The interior is very spacious, almost too spacious it feels a little bit empty, especially when there are not many customers. It's great for groups though; they have a lot of big tables that can seat many people or you can put the tables together. We both ordered the Combination Pho (P1 I think?), the one that has everything in it. I got a medium ($8.99) and his was large ($9.99). I do think this is quite expensive though compared to other pho restaurants. If I am paying more, I expect it to be over the top compared to what I've had before. But it wasn't. It was very average, nothing special. Some of the meat had a lot of fat too. There were some pieces that I just couldn't even eat. We went to Pho House with a group of 5 of us. I had already eaten and was just meeting up with my family to hangout. We were seated and upon ordering, we let the waitress know I was not ordering food or drinks. She never took my order for either. I was simply sitting there with my family to chat while they were eating. They ordered 2 big chicken pho and a rice dish. According to them, the food was good and they enjoyed it. This review is not for the food, but rather the service and bill. The waitress got the orders and delivered the food and drinks when they were ready. She never frequented our table otherwise. When we got our bill, my cousin briefly looked at it and paid. Upon further inspection, we realized that it was $50 something for all the food but there was a service charge for a large group and then on top of that a gratuity of 20%. In total, the tip ended up being $20 something which was nearly half the bill. We were a little upset after realizing because I did not order any food or drink and the waitress was being coy about the extra fees. She didn't originally show us the itemized receipt and then when she gave it to us, the receipt was folded then given to us. There was no disclaimer given to us verbally or on the menu about a service charge for large groups and on top of that a gratuity charge. Most places I've been to have a charge for groups of 6 or larger so it was rather strange for our group of 5 (even though she was just serving 4 of us). My brother eventually decided to ask her about the charges and she didn't really do much to rectify the situation. She just said we had a large group and that was it. By this time, it wasn't worth us trying to get a refund. It was more of a hassle than anything. I just wished they were more transparent and honest to their customers about their service fees and not try to have us pay hidden fees. We weren't trying to get out of paying what the waitress deserves but we felt kind of misled and ended up paying almost 50% of our original meal cost in tips/service charge. Early review. Only had one dish here and it was Mi Quang which isnt on every pho restaurant menu as it's more of a specialty dish that you won't find everywhere. This dish contains egg flat noodle dipped in a thick broth surounded by meat, eggs, veggies, and a rice cracker. Hard to really describe actually. The broth was savory and the meat and noodles were tender and packed lots of flavor. If you want to try something a bit different I would definitely give this a shot. The restaurant itself is spacious and you have a plethora of seating choices and arrangements. It can definitely pack a full house if needed. The interior décor is probably leftovers of the previous tenants, I believe it's was Korean bakery/cafe. It doesn't take anything away from the Pho restaurant as the old decoration compliment the place well. The staff and service is average based on my first visit. The give you a large glass water bottle that allows you to refill your own water without them having to do it for you. They check on you at least once while you are eating. So they don't bother you too much. Depending on how busy it is you may or not be able to get their attention, but they do have a button on the table which I'm sure is a left over from the previous tenants that you can push to get their attentions. Didn't try it so bare with me if it doesn't work. Overall, I'll keep this one rather short. Based on first impressions this place meets my expectations in terms of what I look for in a pho restaurant, it's located in a busy shopping center surrounded by a few businesses so it's sure to get its flow of traffic in and out, which will make it a popular spot for most people out of convenience. Went here to get take out while reading the reviews on Yelp. Decided on the bun no hue. It was so good and spicy. I liked how they gave you a carry out bowl and all the ingredients were individually wrapped. You can only order a large size carryout here. I ate on it all day and evening and it tasted better and better. I guess everything was able to soak the spices. Came to Pho House for lunch before leaving ATL. The menu was extensive but since it's called "Pho House" I went with the house specialty. I got a medium pho tai gau (rare (on the side) & fatty brisket) while bf got the fried rice with shaken beef. We also split an order of spring rolls (2 rolls). The spring rolls were serviceable bc how do you mess up spring rolls? I didn't try my bf's rice dish but he did say it was okay. Rice and beef. My medium bowl of pho was huge! Bathrooms are very nice and clean. I got a Large Pho Dac Biet, which is massive compared to other pho restaurants. It's actually pretty intimidating haha. I meant to give a 2 but sorry I could not do it on the same day because I could not do it. I came on Monday May 24, ordered a wings and a deep fried chicken. Whoever stirfry the wings doesn't know what he/she doing. Greasy and really soggy, I took only 1 bite but no one ask me why and still charge me after I want to return. I was hungry so I have to eat the fried rice with deep fried chicken, chicken is dry but okay, fried rice is also greasy and still firm like cold rice mix with oil. This place is by far one of the best pho restaurants I've been to. I'm not vietnamese, so I'm not sure about other dishes, but their pho broth is on POINT. It's just as good as homemade pho to me. I've brought so many people here and they've all loved it. My fiance never usually finishes his pho + broth, but here he KILLED it. I love the different options that they have for pho (beef ribs & ox tail pho is so good) I live in Sugar Hill and yes, there are other places I could go to that are closer, but nothing beats this place. After we placed our order, which is pho ga. We waited 30-45 minutes and the food hasn't even arrived, I was getting more frustrated since I saw that the people who came after us got their pho before us as well so I asked the waiter and it seemed like they forgot our order and brought it out after I reminded them. 2. My whole table of 7 people got pho but one of our friend decided to get the com bo luc lac/ fried rice. After we all got our pho and finished our food, her rice did not come out even though we flagged down the waiter and reminded him several time to check on her food. I was craving some Bun Bo Hue and after a bad experience at Dai Nam that morning, I ended up here at Pho House. I had never been here before and thought to give it a try. I was so happy that I did because the moment that soup hit my mouth, I was in glory! It fulfilled every taste bud that I was craving and more. Awesome authentic Northern Vietnamese Food! It was so exciting to find out a place that serve Northern food style to me cause the majority vietnamese restaurant here is Southern style. I can't believe I could have a bowl of Bún ch hà ni here. It was so closed to the one i had at home but I think the broth should be hotter not warmish like what I had the other day. The ph was good.
