We love this photo place! We have been going here for the last 2 years. The noodles don't get soggy and the broth is good:) the owner Daren is the best and always treats us with kindness. He's a big reason why we keep coming back. The food comes out fast and hot! Food always tastes amazing! The orange juice is fresh (really hard to find fresh orange juice these days). And so are the smoothies - all natural and doesn't taste artificial. This place has gone downhill from recent years -very bland pho broth, bland and flavorless fried rice. There was only one individual seating guests and taking orders while the rest of the employees were in the back/kitchen. Upon receiving the check, the owner/server tipped himself 18% "automatic gratuity" for our table. This restaurant has a nice relaxing and serene ambiance, the service is always cordial, the waiter named Darren was very friendly and kind, and their Vietnamese dishes have never disappointed us. This might sound ridiculous, but I stop for pho about once a week and as long as I'm in town, it's always here. Located in the corner of a small shopping plaza, this location is easy to find right off of the 57 freeway. Staff here is quick and courteous. When I go to a Pho place, I get worried when I don't see the number after the Pho name. A Vietnamese friend told me that I should only visit locations with a random number behind it. Nevertheless, since I'm local to this location, I wanted to support the local business. I ordered the classic pho tai, and added a side of meatballs. The meatballs came in a separate bowl of soup, two large meatballs cut in half. ($4 for two meatballs). The good thing is you can choose regular size or large bowl of pho, the bad news is you can't really tell the difference between them. My wife ordered the regular size, and I 'think' my portion was larger, but it looked the same. The flavor of the broth is key to Pho. It should be layers of flavor... but this one is just 'okay'. It lacked the complexity of the soup compared to places in Westminster/Garden Grove Pho restaurants. The meat was okay, portion size okay. Everything just seems okay, and in the end, I felt that the soup base was catered for the non typical eaters of Vietnamese food. It played it too safe, something just felt off. Over priced and low quality. I ordered pho to go which only comes in 1 size. The noodles were cold, and the broth was luke warm at best. The noodles had a taste like they were almost spoiled or not temperature controlled properly. I ordered a grilled pork chop on the side of a plain pho, $22 and the pork was loaded with fat that was hard to chew through. I asked for extra hot sauce when I picked it up, I was told it was in the bag, there was 1 packet of hoisin sauce and 1 packet of hot sauce with the vegetables that come with the order. This is our go to place for good Pho at our neighboring city, Brea. But it seems each time we come here. The service seems to be getting terrible each time. Especially with the servers being non fluent speaking English. So that's where the ordering can be a bit complicated to understand. Not that impressive. It's your average typical Vietnamese restaurant like the many that exist out there. Didn't feel too safe while ordering to-go food for pick up while in the restaurant, seeing how customers are not seated too far apart from each other. Service is very typical-Asian. AKA - nonchalant, just-doing-my-job type. I'm used to it, so I won't deduct a star, and it does make the restaurant seem more "authentic". Also feels very authentic when it comes to the lower health & cleanliness standards at par with Asian countries. Everything looks like it has MSG in it, and the dipping sauces for the spring rolls & eggrolls also had MSG, so it was hard to find something decent on the menu to order. Spring rolls & egg rolls taste okay. The egg rolls taste a little too greasy though so kinda get sick of it after just one roll unless you eat it with the lettuce. And the leafy greens that came with the egg rolls on the side did not feel too cleanly washed...I think I spotted a small black fruit fly or so on the lettuce... Anyhow, this feels like a typical average Vietnamese restaurant to me. If you're generally okay with that and used to MSG, you'll have no problem dining here.
