I'm so glad we did because this ended up being the best meal we had while visiting Anchorage! I ordered the tofu pho and really enjoyed it. The broth was a little sweeter than what I personally prefer, but it was still delicious and packed with flavor. The tofu and other ingredients were fresh, and the bowl was comforting and satisfying. The staff was really nice and welcoming, and I loved the cozy, relaxed ambience. It was a great place to sit down and enjoy a warm bowl of pho after exploring Anchorage. Service was decent overall, although our waters were never refilled during the meal. Overall, this was definitely a highlight of our trip, and I would absolutely come back the next time I'm in Anchorage to try more of the menu!

We got the Combination Fried Rice, and it was the best freaking fried rice I've ever had. Not only was it flavorful, but it was also generous on the portions - both in the overall quantity and in the amount meat that they had. They didn't skimp on the amount or the flavor here. The Banh Xeo, even though it was supposed to be the main attraction, became kind of the side course. That's not to say it wasn't tasty, it was also delicious. But I think the main star of the show is their fried rice. Additionally had some Thai Iced Tea. And again, one of the best Thai Iced Teas I've ever had. Strong but tasty. It definitely kept me wired and wide awake for my wilderness drives. Didn't expect to find such a random gem when traveling to the Last Frontier.

I like their menu because it has a good variety, and the food is pretty solid overall. The dine-in service has generally been good, and the restaurant itself looks clean, modern, and comfortable. That said, the takeout experience has almost always been on the slower side throughout the years, so that is one area I think they could improve. Still, Phonatik is one of the better pho restaurants in Anchorage. I really think they have a lot of potential, but they may need to step up their game a bit to become truly outstanding.

I'm sitting right in front of you. I finally get my order! hallelujah. but it's fucked up because you know they're rushing at this point. I ordered the rolls with NO PEANUTS. NO PEANUTS - highly allergic. this is non negotiable. apparently some dude doesn't think so and asks if switching out the peanut sauce sitting next to my rolls is good enough. no, bro. not good enough. then I'm asked if I had originally ordered my rolls with no nuts. well considering how highly reactive I am, yeah, yeah i'm sure. and why are you really trying to blame me for this epic fuck up? worst thing is you can tell the kids working here don't give a fuck. it's so obvious and takes away from what makes Phonatik so good. so like I said earlier : get your shit together.
