Stopped by Pho Dat in Conroe and had such a great experience! We were seated right away, and the service was excellent--quick, attentive, and they brought out our food and drinks in no time. My boyfriend got a Thai iced tea, which was perfectly sweet and creamy--one of the better ones we've had. We also shared some fried rice, and wow... it was insane! Super flavorful, with the perfect balance of seasoning and texture. Easily some of the best fried rice I've ever had. We also ordered pho, and it did not disappoint. The broth was rich and deeply flavorful, with just the right amount of aromatics. The meat was tender, and the portion was generous. It had that comforting, homemade quality that makes pho so special. The restaurant itself is quiet and quaint, a great spot for a laid-back meal. Wow! I can't say I know much about Vietnamese food, in particular, but I know about food. And this was good food! We started with the shrimp rolls which came with a peanut dipping sauce- and then I had the Pho, which was super yummy (and I couldn't even finish the small sized bowl.) The place was packed when we left and they were staring to run out of particular menu items because of how busy they had already been all day (although I'm sure they'll adjust as time goes on...) This was a first for me and the waiters were so helpful!!! At their suggestion I ordered a P1 with beef broth and a F1 because if I didn't like the Pho, I know I would eat Fried rice. I took this order to go and put it together as they instructed me at home and wow!!!!! This stuff was good!!!! I ate on the Pho for lunch and dinner.... yes, there is that much! Love the noodles they are a great tasting healthy option for when your craving pasta or spices up vegetables! Love the broth and soup bowls. Always attentive service and fresh tasting food. The portions are generous for the price too. Very consistent enjoyable experience every time I go! That is something they can consider if they don't have the time to provide. There is no designated server. I think management (if there is any) needs to take a look at this problem. The kitchen has like 10-15 people, but there is hardly any representation in the front handling the customers. The speed of service is so slow. I think it took roughly 30 minutes after order before it came out. At another table of 4 people, one person's dish didn't come out until the other 3 finished their meal. Timing is important. 2. Price - $15-$20 for a bowl of pho. $8-$12 for Banh Mi. Expensive Vietnamese food that I can get for much cheaper in Chinatown. However, keep in mind that they are serving the suburbs in the North of Houston. 3. Ambiance - dark walls, lanterns in the ceiling, it feels a bit clustered inside. Dress code here is casual. Open kitchen that welcomes you with the nice aroma of beef pho. 4. Food - this is where this place shines. I ordered their PHO TAI. I have to say it's a 9 out of 10 for their pho. I can see why this restaurant is busy. My wife had their BANH MI THIT NUONG, and although I didn't try it myself, she said that it was good with ample flavorful meat and vegetables. 5. Cleanliness - questionable. The shelf near the kitchen looks a bit dirty. Presentation is everything. SUMMARY There are things they need to work on. But if they turn things around, they have the recipe for a very successful business. The chef in the kitchen has it down. They just need a manager to watch the outside and coordinate everything.
