I'm not exactly sure what happened. I don't know if there's new owners or new cooks. But this place has changed drastically. Everything on the menu used to be amazing. We order a variety of items from the menu and none of them we're good. We never waste food and always keep leftovers. This time we didn't finish our food and threw out the leftovers. The place was always busy anytime you went day or night. I walked in at 5:45 pm and no one was there. Our kiddos favorite place for fried rice aka "hot chicken rice" The #78 is really good, the size of the pork chop is a good size. My hubby loves the beef pho. Their prices are really good compared to the Pho cafes in the woodlands. read more

As others have said, I was a bit skeptical from the dive the reviews took after the "change in management" they experienced here. Seemed like maybe things had gone downhill? But I figured I would decide for myself. When I arrived (about 2:45 pm) it was decidedly empty. One other customer other than myself. There was never more than two customers at the same time till the time I left. So, not crowded and noisy, lol. Very pleasant, bright and clean. Not a large venue, but some tables had room for six. I enjoyed it. I was not familiar with the menu as this was my first visit, but it was very well laid out and easy to read. Organized by category and lots of options listed. Easy to navigate. I ordered hot tea and two shrimp spring rolls to begin and they brought them promptly. The spring rolls were great! Fresh and crunchy vegetables, the shrimp were well peeled and very tasty. The peanut sauce that came with them was just too good. Unfortunately they were so large I knew if I ate both I'd never get to the Pho, and that was why I came, right? So I ate one and saved the other. The "hot" tea was another matter. It really wasn't hot. It was close I suppose, and I don't want it so hot that it sears the lips and tongue, but I do want it hot. It was good, I drank it and enjoyed the taste, but, not hot. I ordered a large bowl of combo brisket and other beef and almost ordered extra noodles, but I hesitated. I'd not had Pho here before so I played it safe and didn't order any additions this time. Good thing, too! There were more than enough noodles in this soup. Very good noodles. I will order extra meat in the future though, seemed a little light to me. The broth was savory, without being too much, and all the onions and such were very fresh and crunchy. So it was all good. I ate till I was full and wished I could do more. It was all good, at least to me. And I will certainly return. read more

First time having Pho and I loved it. The menu is easy to understand and order from. Staff was helpful in choosing food and explaining what some things were. The atmosphere is relaxed, clean and well done. The food was fantastic. The beef is tender and just falls apart. My husband had the sandwich , I believe S5 , and he thought it was different but loved it. We come here once a year and so I'll definitely be here next year. I wish we had one closer to home. We ordered a P2 to go for a friend and just a heads up, it comes with the meat raw, you just have to put it in the hot broth to cook it. read more

I'd give it a higher rating if it were not for the new Asian family that took over changing the pho noodles from the white noodles to the clear ones which I don't like. It sucks I cannot communicate to them in English my dissatisfaction but rather have to tell the American server to relay my message. I have not been back and would rather drive further even into the hellish Houston than patronize this location which changed the recipe that I am accustomed to and want. read more

The food was good and the staff was attentive. The New manager is nice and explained the new menu very well. Overall, I think it's a good place to eat. If your open to a new style of Pho. We recently moved out to Montgomery from southwest Houston and we sure are happy to have a Vietnamese restaurant nearby to fill our craving. This restaurant is in our regular rotation. We've tried the spring rolls, egg rolls, banh mi, and vermicelli bowls. All have been great. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars because they go light on the lettuce and fresh herbs with the egg rolls and vermicelli bowls. After reading the glowing reviews of this place, I was excited to try it out, especially being mere minutes from my new house. It wasn't bad, per se, but not all that good, either. My wife and I each had a large bowl of flank and tendon pho, and split a pork banh mi. The pho was a disappointingly small portion, with just a few wisps of noodles, light on herbs and vegetables, and almost completely lacking meat. Seriously, I've had more meat on a single nacho than was in that bowl. The worse offense, though, was a distinct lack of flavor! It seemed as if the restaurant bought a box of beef broth, diluted it with water, and served it as is. Again, not bad, but definitely not good. What happened to the delicious herbs and spices - star anise, cardamom, cinnamon, etc. - that make pho such a beloved dish? The pork banh mi was in a delicious airy and crispy French baguette, as one would expect, but the filling was sparse and flavorless. To top off the poorly-prepared food, the service was non-existent. I ran out of water twice, and filled my own glass behind the counter. I've had more attention from counter-service restaurants. Bottom line - we'll get our Vietnamese fix elsewhere. This place isn't worth our time,money, or appetite. read more

After wanting to try this place for a while, I finally went today! It was a great dining experience. Customer service was A1. It's a small area so it's easy to keep cleaned up. We started off with an order of house special egg rolls and they were very good. I ended up ordering the grilled chicken rice plate and my mom ordered the noddle soup with chicken. New Management is not using the same recipes as before. Very boastfully bragged about it. Spring rolls were small and had very thick, gummy pork in them- Thai tea was not the same and served in a coke glass with tons of ice- when I asked what was going on and if the recipes changed I was told 'well it's just not for some people' granted we used to go here at least once a week- now we will be looking for another place back in the Woodlands. I'm so happy we now have a Vietnamese restaurant in Montgomery! This place has great food and a great price. I usually get the vermicelli bowl and it never disappoints. The lemongrass chicken vermicelli was my favorite but they recently got rid of so I tried the tofu and that is now my new favorite. I was hesitant to try Pho Dat after reading the most recent reviews stating that the food quality had declined with the recent management change...well if it has diminished in quality at all, it must've been AMAZING before!!! I'm a huge Vietnamese food lover, and this is some of, if not the best, I've had locally. Sorry for not including pictures, but I got take out. We ordered the beef and pork spring rolls--both perfectly tender with and amazing salty sauce (in a lot of restaurants they use a peanut sauce or cloying sweet fish sauce... this was fresh and briny, so delicious!). We ordered a pho, number 16, and it was some of the best pho I've had in the greater Houston area. The wonton soup was also phenomenonal with a different broth from the pho...a bit more savory and the wontons were shrimp. Delicious. Finally we had a vermicelli stir fry, #69, with chicken and pork... very rich and you could taste the 'breath of the dragon' from the wok. All in all, for an unsuspecting Viet joint in Montgomery, TX, this place is seriously on point. I would definitely drive out of my way to dine here, and plan on doing so frequently in the future! read more

I have tried this spot once before and the food was good, not great or amazing but good. I am severely allergic to shellfish and I make that known every time I go to a restaurant. I ordered Pho and egg rolls and once I received them as I began to eat the egg rolls, I started to feel the swelling..... I immediately looked at the menu to ensure that I had not misread anything or overlooked the fact that the egg rolls may have had seafood in them. I then called the waitress over and she was not aware that they had seafood in it as well. She went to the back to ask the cook and the cook confirmed that the egg rolls had shrimp in them. I then advised her that I was allergic and asked for a to go container for my pho. The waitress didn't offer any type of assistance or apology for this. I have called several times to speak with management and to no avail. They either aren't there or have already left for the day, I have left my phone number and haven't gotten a call back yet. I ended up with some extreme swelling and had to use my epi pen and take off the next day from work. This happened on Nov 30 and you would think the owners, managers or someone would have called back by now.... The only excuse I have received thus far is that the menu is too small to put the ingredients by the appetizers, although this could be the one thing to save a life. Every other restaurant has shellfish listed, I wouldn't think that this would be that big of a deal.... read more

Don't order to go. They're cheap on containers so you basically eat Pho from a Styrofoam compartment container! Shrimp spring rolls gummy and very loose. New management sucks and the recipes have changed. Try Van Thong by Luby's or Asian BBQ on Loop 336 North. read more

If you get the extra-large Pho, good luck! It is massive! Love their Pho. It is the only thing I have tried here. I would venture that everything on their menu is very solid. First time eating here. We thought we give this lace a try. Pho soup was bland and the Banh Mi was mediocre. Service was ok. Prices were reasonable. I asked for an extra bowls to split our two bowls of pho and bun and the waitress did not informed us that there will be a charge for the extra bowls when we placed the order. She simply said, sure no problem. We were totally surprised when we received the bill. I spoke to the manager and she said that is the way they do business here. For us, It is not about the money they charged extra but it is about informing your customers if you are going to charge them for an extra bowl when they placed they order not surprised them in the bill afterwards. Poor business practice. We will NOT be coming back to this place! read more

Super clean looking place when I walked in, always refreshing to be greeted when you walk in. Tables were occupied so I planted myself in the corner by the kitchen where the nice sounds of clinging and clanging were enjoyed! My P1 Extra large bowl arrived rapidly and after the first sip of the broth I knew I was in for good things!
