I'm not sure why this place has such high reviews. With the exception of the service the food kinda sucked. Ordered the lunch combo small of Pho ga and summer roll with a ginger ale. They really skimped on the ingredients - both were mostly noodles. The noodles in the soup were overcooked and too soft, almost mushy? There was barely any chicken in the pho, not much of anything to be honest. And the broth itself was bland. My totally with tip came out to be $25, which is kind of insane considering the portion size. There's plenty of other pho options in the area, I wouldn't recommend this one. read more

I've had this place on my list for a while, and I didn't realize it was on my way home from the nail salon I go to. Well, I was craving shrimp rolls, and decided to give it a go. I am not sure if she is the owner, or the manager but I had the loveliest conversation with her while I waited for my food. She was extremely warm, and welcoming, and I am sad that I did not catch her name. I also ordered their rib appetizer with my shrimp rolls, and boy oh boy am I in heaven. I've been eating here at Pho Cyclo since 1996.. they seem to have added a little bit more food choices on their menu and now have desert options which will bring up their revenue. I have been here right after they renovated their dining space and they have always been a great place to get Pho. I dined-in and even ordered two more dishes for my kids on my way out. I thought this place was ok! We tried this place since we heard that had catering and we have an event where we may have considered them as that option. I got the mi xao tom and we also tried the chay giờ chạy & gọi cuốn tôm. I liked the chạy giờ but the peanut butter sauce for the goi cuốn didn't have enough peanut butter. As for my friends & partner, they had different dishes and said it was on the blander side or didn't have enough meat (pho specifically). This place has been around for as long as I have (and probably longer). Broth is middle of the road in terms of both savoriness and sweetness -- it's pretty balanced and enjoyable from the first sip to the last. I really liked how you could get a "small" even though it was still too much for me to finish. (Leftover pho makes for delicious breakfast the next day! They very nicely packed it up for me.) The chicken from the Cyclo 5 Flavors was well-flavored but a little tougher from the grill. The shrimp rolls are a nicely sized portion and very crispy. I have no qualms about the price especially in this economy and I like how it's not insanely busy (especially compared to Eden Center). Parking is super easy in this lot. read more

We had the wings, lemonade, Singapore noodles, Hu Tieu and the beef pho dac beit. We also got an avocado smoothie and the short ribs. We loved everything except the pho. It was good, but just okay. Tasted old or overcooked. But that won't stop us from coming back. The ribs, wings, and Hu Tieu are a must try. They have lots of great dishes so I definitely recommend. This review is only for the pho as that is the only thing I tried. I came to try this place out after hearing it won the best pho in Northern Virginia. I was left pretty disappointed. I would like to point out that the service was great and our server was nice. The pho however was extremely disappointing. The broth itself was good and I had no complaints but the amount of meat and veggies they give is pathetic!!! $18 for a bowl with like maybe four tiny thin slices of meat. Also, why skimp on the veggies??? The picture I included was before I even touched the bowl. I also ordered onions and vinegar on the side ($4) and they barely gave any onions either. I've gone to many pho restaurants but this one takes the award for the least amount of meat and veggies. Update: just got home and found there were none of the normal accompaniments for the soup: no lime, no Thai basil, no sauce, no lime and no jalapeños. While Pho Cyclo has been my go-to for pho over the last several years. They have an amazing brisket pho and veggie rolls. But this year I've noticed the veggies getting lighter and lighter. I'll sometimes ask for extra (willing to pay) but no luck...when I say light veggies I'm talking two sprigs of cilantro, 1/8 of a lime, 2 jalapeno slices, etc.. the veggies also haven't been in the best condition, which I know can't always be the case but they've been looking a little older and beat up the last couple of orders. Several dining seats had tape covering rips, which really signals it's time for an upgrade. Service, however, was excellent. Staff were prompt, friendly, and attentive throughout the visit, which was easily the highlight of the meal. I ordered the pho soup and the Vietnamese egg roll sampler. Both were good but nothing extraordinary. The flavors were solid, just not memorable. What stood out more was the pricing: appetizers were over $15, nearly the same as the pho soup itself, which felt high for what was served. Overall, Pho Cyclo still delivers decent food and great service, but the restaurant is aging and could benefit from some updates--especially the seating. Tried this place for lunch and was pretty happy with what I got. I got the vermicelli bowl with pork and shrimp. The egg roll was lacking some flavor in my opinion. I loved that the bowl came with different proteins. I also got the shrimp rolls and liked them but didn't love. They were relatively unimpressive since it's just noodles, lettuce and shrimp. I prefer to have some more variety - bean sprouts and pickled carrots would make a nice touch. I thought everything was reasonably priced and I would return for the bowl. read more

I live in an area with not a lot of good options for Vietnamese food, so when I visit the Northern VA area I tend to bring home a few quarts of Pho Ga. On a recent trip to Annandale, I stopped at Pho Cyclo, as it came highly recommended. The place is quaint and was busy on a weekday around 2PM. Ordering was simple, as the lady working the counter spoke perfect English and was very helpful, especially since I needed to ensure my broth was packed tightly for the long ride home and that the hot and cold items were packed separately, as I wouldn't be eating this Pho for several hours. I got enough for 5 of us and after we heated the broth and then added all the beautiful, fresh, and crisp veggies and the tender chicken - it was time to eat! The broth was really good, but I didn't notice as much star anise nor cinnamon flavors in it. We still absolutely enjoyed it! I prefer a clear, non-oily broth and that was exactly what this was. Prices are very fair and the restaurant was nicely decorated and spotless too! Highly recommend stopping in for carry-out or to dine in when in the area! read more

We first ordered ribs. They came hot and juicy. Seriously I had good expectation to the rest of the meal!!! Rolls sampler has 3 spring rolls 2 fried egg rolls. Maybe some interesting combination like sausage with arrowroot(?) but they are tasteless and dry... even the dipping fish sauce is missing the taste. Ordered 2 large Pho Tai Nam Gan Sach* something similar to combination. Broth is bland and flavorless, some spices are missing. Only two or three thin slices of meats, tripes, tendons, not even a good portion of vermicelli, I am a bit shocked. Probably the staff missed hearing my last ordered of the 5 flavored rice which I usually ordered anywhere I go. I didn't bother to take a chance to reorder as we should be on the road again. Instead I ordered ice Vietnamese coffee In a to go cup. Turn out it was the worst choice. It was dark and bitter. I expected it should be Vietnamese dripping coffee with condensed milk and pour into ice! Not some instant coffee! Later I tried to add more condensed milk but it was still bad. Only a few sip it went straight to trash. It made me sick. Could be the ice, could be the milk... The 10hrs drive back home I felt terribly sick n diarrhea for 2 days. read more
