    bun bo hue

Came here with a large group (7+) for the lunch service. The waiters quickly accommodated for our group and we were served shortly after. I ordered the bun bo hue - I don't think it was super traditional, and more Americanized to accommodate a more Western palette, but it was a good noodle soup regardless. There was less meat in the soup than I had expected. The sticky wings were delicious as an appetizer and I'd definitely order those again! Overall, the service was fast and the food is consistent.

Hubbs and I have been coming here for years since before we had baby. We came today with our infant baby and were told to have a seat anywhere so naturally we choose to sit in the very back away from people because we had the baby in the car seat. We get settled just for the same person that told us to "have a seat anywhere" tell us "oh it's Just 3 people? My manager said to move you, this is for party of 5 people or more" It was so annoying and awkward because we literally just scooted over to the next set of tables- but decided to leave instead. If you have an infant you understand the extra work of loading/unloading/getting situated and being brave enough to go to a restaurant is just to face this situation.

We were by Clear Lake Methodist starving and looking for something close. It was less than 10 mins away. Pho Barr is tucked inside a retail shopping strip. I almost want to say it took over a Filipino restaurant that used to be here. It was awhile back, I've moved so I'm not 100 % sure. When you walk in it's very dark and gloomy with the blinds closed to keep out the heat. I know you can't beat this Texas heat, but I felt it was too dark inside. We ordered 2 wonton soups, shrimp spring rolls, and 2 pork banh mi sandwiches. My husband and I were disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. The banh mis were sloppy and too much butter, the bread completely soggy from it. The grilled pork was too sweet and saucy not what we were used to. It didn't taste like it was authentic charbroiled grilled pork. I didn't taste any lemongrass either. The spring rolls were ok nothing great about them. Lastly, the wonton noodle soup was just ok too. We were hoping it was good since they're opening one close to our office in Deer Park. It's unfortunate because we're always looking for new hot spots by the office. We won't be going back.

This is the second location of this restaurant we've visited, and I was way more impressed with this one. The vibe, service, and food were all excellent. We stopped in for mango green tea and spring rolls, and everything hit the spot. We ordered the shrimp, pork, and beef spring rolls, and they all came out fresh, flavorful, and exactly what I was craving. Definitely would recommend this location, and we'll absolutely be back!

We frequently dine here and are always happy with the service and the food. Exciting neon splashed walls with space themes make it fitting for the location. The Only menu item that I don't recommend is the mama's spring rolls. Just meh in what they deliver. Other spring rolls are better

The food was very flavorful and fresh. All the ingredients melded together really well. I also really liked the ambiance inside the restaurant. It felt very hip and vibey because of the neon signs and the dark interior. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The time from when we ordered to when the food was put on our table was also super fast. The beef was a little tougher than expected, but the pork was 10/10. I wish the portions were a tiny bit bigger because of how light everything felt! Would come here again.

My husband and I went for a late lunch to Pho Barr. The waiter was very helpful and polite, the atmosphere is very cool, relaxing music and neon lights. We started with grilled beef spring rolls, this came fast, the flavor of the meat is sweet, fresh lettuce and noodles, good peanut sauce. Then we had the special of the season which is grilled pork chop, white rice, pork skin, and vegetables, came with a nice broth and egg cake which was particularly good. Then we had the beef Pho, flavorful broth, tender meat, great meatballs and fresh herbs. Cool place!

Pho was delicious! Broth was light and flavorful! I've had other phos in the area and they always tend to be on the sweeter side. This wasn't too sweet and I appreciate that. I most definitely will be back! My friend got the Bo luc lac and that was yummy too. We ended our meal with the strawberry milk milkshake and lime frappe. Both were good but lime frappe was so refreshing and totally recommend especially on a hot day! Place was clean and service was great! I really do recommend!

Popped into this small but very artsy cute spot while out near the Johnson Space Center. It was a hot day today for mid April so I wanted sumthin light and not too heavy, and I saw this spot in a strip center near my hotel. I was gonna get a bow of pho, However I saw on of their rice dinners come out, and said I want some of that! Glad I did.. i ordered the beef rice dinner made of strips of grilled ribeye., ( very tender) good flavor, , while my dude got the one with shrimp .. however he said his needed more seasoning of some kind.. thus the 4 stars. Service was good however.

Everything in…read moretheir menu is something great, with some of my personal favorites being the Homestyle Trio with Eggplant, their Mapo Tofu (off menu, no gatekeeping), their Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup (a wee too spicy for me personally, but I love the simplicity of it), and the General Tso's Chicken. The eggplant dish mentioned is very rich and flavorful, with the eggplant cooked to be soft and almost mushy (but in a good way), nicely complimented by particularly the beef. Their lo mein is a little watery on various occasions, but still maintains a great and very nice flavor. Their fried rice is one of my favorites in the area and is always very well made no matter the time of day. The fried chicken wings, crab puffs, and crab bomber appetizers are both just such standouts in what is often an overlooked part of the menu by many restaurants. I have nothing but praise about how this place handles food. The staff is all really nice and welcoming from entrance to walking out the door. They are very good with order additions or food/allergy restrictions and the dishes always come out in a timely (but not rushed) manner, no matter whether it is a weekday morning or a busy dinner crowd. I'd recommend the lunch special for anyone coming around that time, as the deal of egg rolls, soup, and an entree or 2-3 sushi rolls for a low price is a steal. The ambiance nice for sure and the tables are clean, though I do sometimes get disoriented by the wallpaper they use (I think it's just me though). Whenever this place first opened, I was very disappointed in the restaurant. Meals were salt with a side of meat and rice and was just overall underwhelming. But now, it is one of my family's go to places whenever we need quality food in a short distance. Definitely worth a try, even over other restaurants in the area that serve a similar menu.

This particular restaurant itself is a bit on the small side though. Only 3 or 4 normal tables before they'll have to put you at the bar. Not at all mad about the gigantic, juicy, crunchy pieces of karaage or the reheated and dressed takoyaki (yes, wisdom teaches you things, and there's no way a restaurant can reproduce takoyaki [from scratch] that perfectly when they cant even maintain quality on their staple), but as happy as I am with the chicken, I will make the suggestion to bring back the spicy mayo and to keep the lemons on the plate. Although my partner didn't show it and said it was fine, it was obvious she was disappointed that she didn't receive a Demon Slayer soup spoon from ordering the monthly special since they were out of stock (waiter says there is no guarantee the spoons will restock). The promotion is set to end sometime in February, but I might take another long break from Jinya, again. I got the tried and true Jinya tonkotsu black, which was served with chewy (yes, chewy) pieces of pork chashu. I also noticed the wife only ate her toppings from her chicken yatai ramen and offered to trade her since I was mostly happy with mine. Wow, the monthly special, chicken yatai was super bland. I voiced my complaints about the yatai that was barely eaten and that the chashu was not rendered enough. He said he would let the manager know, who offered a complimentary ice cream mochi (ok, these werent bad). Ambiance: casual, loud with my type of music (pops, edm). The hard truth: not a place I could recommend to friends at this moment. Glad the owner is doing so well in this area and would highly recommend sister restaurants, but there's a glaring need for quality control here and maybe a bit more accountability is needed. Looks like I have some old pictures still uploaded, so I'll just go ahead and leave them in the post, but just take my word that the tonkotsu black still looks the same and the chicken and takoyaki are indeed as pretty as they are scrumptious.

We happened to be driving home from picking up a new cell phone, and my wife mentioned the other major Asian chain. Pei Wei, however, was a left turn away. We were there well after the 5-7 p.m. typical dinner hours, and our order was quickly taken at the counter and cooked within our view. The Orange Chicken and Firecracker Shrimp were pretty damn good. Fresh and crispy with appealing sauces. The Firecracker sauce is what General Tso's should be -- some sweet and heat. The Orange Chicken sauce, has a little bite, but I could also taste the orange. I get it that some mom & pop restaurants might serve five-star recipes on one night, and single-star recipes the next, because of issues involving product procurement and a lack of consistency when it comes to employee training. While I mostly go with the mom & pop joints, consistency on occasion can be my friend. Bottom line: The food here was good (to-go) on our visit. And almost as good the next day when we warmed everything up in the microwave. Employees here are friendly, and the place was spic and span. I'll be back.
