Pho Bac was not bad, but I wasn't so impressed by our experience there that I'm eager to go back. They do have ample parking, which I appreciate. However, they have a lot of tables, which are not spaced that far apart, so when they are busy it can get a bit COVID unsafe. And while I understand that people are obviously going to un-mask when they eat, they were tons of unmasked customers both coming into the restaurant unmasked and also walking around the restaurant unmasked. It overall didn't make for a particularly safe feeling dining experience. In terms of the food, we had the tofu spring rolls, a beef pho with rare beef, fatty brisket, and tripe, and a vegan pho and a tofu banh mi. The theme for the dishes featuring tofu is that their tofu is basically unseasoned and lacking in flavor. Which made all those dishes pretty lackluster. The beef pho was decent, and the fatty tripe was pretty good, but the broth was subtle to the point of not having much flavor. Could be to some people's tastes, but not to mine. Service was not that great. It seemed kind of disorganized as to who was supposed to tend to what because it's standard to get your dish of bean sprouts/herbs/etc soon after you order if you're getting pho, but we got our pho before we realized we'd never received those items and had to ask two separate people before those items were brought. You can customize your Pho and includes herbaceous toppings on the side. They even have different naturally flavored slushies to cool you down from the delicious hot broth. This is hands down my favorite pho place. I evaluate my pho by the soup and Pho Bac has the tastiest soup without using tons of msg. My favorite is the one with Tai and Sach or rare steak slices and tripe. The former is sliced thin and well portioned and the latter is cooked such that it is not chewy. A friend recommended Pho Bac to me, so I decided to try it out one evening. We were greeted warmly and seated in a booth. I ordered the #1 pho dac biet special combination since it had a bunch of meats in it: rare steak, flank, fat brisket, tripe, tendon. A medium bowl was $9.30. I also requested no cilantro. The pho can out snappily. My cilantro was missing as requested though sadly green onions were absent as well. Hmm. Anyway, the broth was appetizing, and I thought there were a decent amount of meats. One minus to this place is that they close at 9 PM daily, and it's not a lingering-type of restaurant. So I advise going to Pho Bac well before 9. In conclusion, not bad. Pho Dai Loi 2 and I Luv Pho are still my top two Buford Highway pho spots, but I'll tuck Pho Bac into the number three position for now. read more

Used to come here all the time and loved it. Have gotten take out for a while and the quality never disappoints; however, I went to dine in for the first time in a while (multiple years) and was highly upset by what I saw. The food was still good, but the bottles (sriracha, soy sauce, etc.) on the table were so CRUSTY and obviously reused. The fish sauce smelled awful because of the buildup and made my friend totally unappetized to the soup once it came. To make matters worse, we could see an employee refilling empty bottles from wholesale containers ON A TABLE NEXT TO US!! I went here for the first time a month ago when I originally moved to Georgia . I was extremely dissatisfied however it was a Togo order . Fast forward to fathers day , I decided to give it another try. I must say this place is fantastic, the beautiful lady with curly hair who greets you with a smile is more than enough reason to come back . The food I give a solid 7/10. I always order the 17c (vegan pho ) with beef broth and the tofu fried crispy on the side . I am here for a third time and it's around 40 minutes before close . Pho Bac is one of my go to locations for pho simply as I've been visiting this location since I was a child. There are times when it's a miss (soup was extremely bland/watered down). However, overall a good experience. I've tried their rice plates and wasn't a fan of the flavor of their grilled pork. Lemongrass chicken is always good though! read more

I'm upgrading my rating for Pho Bac from 3 stars to 4 stars in spite of their rising prices. They charge $8.75 for an Extra Large bowl of pho now instead of $6.95. Boo. The main reason for the higher rating, though, is I think their pho has improved over the past 1-2 years and overall, I think this place is pretty underrated. Plus, they have a new menu with a more robust and expanded selection. Pho Bac offers almost 20 different kinds of pho. If you don't want an Extra Large bowl, Medium is $7.25 and Small is $5.95. One thing I like about their new menu is they have pictures and descriptions of the different types of beef you can get in your pho, including: Tai - rare steak Gau - fatty brisket Nam Ve Don - skirt flank Sach - beef tripe Nam - flank Chin - well-done brisket Gan - soft tendon Bo Vien - meatball My favorite, as always, is the Pho Dac Biet. This is special combination pho with a lot of stuff. At Pho Bac, it includes rare steak, flank, fatty brisket, tendon, and tripe. An Extra Large bowl of Pho Dac Biet is filling. One difference between Pho Bac and other Atlanta pho joints is the noodle-and-meat-to-broth ratio. Pho Bac is very generous with the amount of noodles and meat they provide. They pack the bowl in, so it's a dense affair. I also like the extra onion and chopped scallions they throw in. The sides provided (raw culantro, basil, bean sprouts, jalapeno, lime) are sufficiently fresh. Mix some hoisin and Sriracha sauce into the fragrant broth and dip your meats into the chili garlic paste, all to make one very satisfying meal. Very good quality overall. You can't go wrong with the appetizers, either the Cha Gio (fried spring rolls) or the Goi Cuon (fresh spring rolls). Authentic Vietnamese food with fresh ingredients and great taste! As I walked in the door, I immediately noticed the amazing smells and was greeted by the kind staff. I loved the quiet environment of this restaurant, and truly enjoyed my meal. I had the #10 pho (which has raw beef and well done brisket) and the veggie egg rolls, and I was blown away by the fresh taste, the fast service, and the great portion sizes. The bean sprouts tasted fresh and clean, the noodles were warm and well cooked, and I definitely felt full afterwards. I am a hungry person, and the medium size was perfect to fill me up. This is still my go-to place for pho, especially for pho ga (white meat chicken). I've had some issues with inconsistency and downgraded my review previously, but I'm happy to say that the last couple of times I've gone, both at lunch and dinner, I've had a great experience. The staff is very attentive here with very kind servers - even if you've just had something hotter than expected and drained your water glass, raising your hand at any employee wtih an empty cup will get you a quick refill. The food was excellent. I went last night and it was very busy, even late. They still close relatively early (make sure you get there before 8:45 or so or they may turn you away). Prices have gone up about a buck per bowl, but don't let that dissuade you, especially if you're looking for chicken (and who doesn't want a bowl of delicious chicken soup when it's cold outside?). The medium bowl was enough to fill me, even with me starving coming in. The "salad" was appropriately fresh with jalapenos, cilantro, Asian basil and sprouts. The white meat chicken was juicy with thick slices, the broth perfect and the noodles very filling and delicious. We started with the shrimp and pork spring rolls (these are called something different in just about every place you go but if you specify "shrimp and pork spring spring roll" you'll get the right thing just about anywhere). These were really good, served with a peanut hoisen dip - you can basically make a meal out of these if inclined as they come three to an order. If you think you might want to try a smoothie, check out the caribbean coconut - not too sweet but with a slightly citrus, coconut flavor - tapioca optional. As usual no AmEx at the checkout (you pay at the counter), but that's fairly consistent with Asian restaurants, especially on Buford Hwy and in Duluth. I like that they don't have an annoying TV blasting at you and the mirrored ends of the dining room make the place look much bigger than it is (don't be foold though, they can handle a fairly large party if you're thinking about having one, just make sure you call ahead). read more

I usually add a lot of the bean sprout and other fresh greens for the CRUNCH and if you try it you'll thank me. I take the peppers out cause of the spice. The bread for the sandwich is crispy and divine, it's one of the most favorite things I hold close to my heart. The location is in a very diverse strip mall with little English and more Asian signs. It has a deceivingly large interior although that may be in part by the mirrors on the wall. We went with a large party of 8 and were seated immediately. It's a Pho restaurant so we obviously ordered pho. We also got fried egg rolls and Banmi. All the food came out in what felt like a few minutes. It was quick, food was delish and for 8 people we spent less than $80. At first, I was doubtful about how "fresh" the juice was from its bright orange color but after a few sips, I was newly refreshed and energized. The sandwich is as Yelp would categorize 3 stars... "A-OK". Something to fill the belly. It had some slices of meat, some veggies sprinkled in, and 2 pieces of jalapeno. I learned from childhood mistakes and searched out the jalapenos before taking a big bite out of my sandwich. The bread is not as buttery as I'd expected but I appreciated that it was still crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I think I expected pate or spicy mayo to decrease the dryness of the bread. The service was professional and attentive and friendly. There are many seats inside to readily accommodate large groups.
