The food is delicious. Portions are huge and the service is amazing. My family and I came here on a Tuesday at 2 pm. I believe our server was Francisco. We believe he was the best server we have ever had at any restaurant . (I was a server for 4 years ) He brought us our food and kept having to come back over 10 times but he was still just so kind. He came by multiple times to check up on us. The sizes of the noodles soups are Small, Large and X-Large. I ordered a large and it was the first time I was unable to finish a noodle soup. It was delicious. I had to pack the rest to-go. We will definitely be back again.

Over the weekend I was looking for a bowl of soup for the soul. We had visited Ph Anh Dao once before this, on New Year's Day and it was delightful so we thought we'd pay them another visit! The restaurant is very spacious, so spacious that two different restaurants occupy the same building! The staff are shared as well. I will say it's a hard to get the staff's attention. They stand at the main register in the middle of the lobby and it's hard for them to see you waive your hand depending on where you're seated. But once they do see you, they're very quick to tend to you! It's got a ton of natural light and endless seating. There is also a small parking lot behind the building, it's in the same parking lot as the hotel parking spaces but the hotel spaces are marked. I'm personally a huge fan of tripe and tendon, but I always feel like I never get enough of those when I get pho at other places. Pho Anh Dao offers a build your own pho so I got a large bowl of pho with only tripe and tendon ($14.50). I also swapped the regular noodles for Ho Fun noodles ($0.50). We also got a bowl of Garlic Noodles with Grilled Beef & Egg Rolls ($17). The garlic noodle bowl is the main reason we came back, even though soup was the main goal! And of course, we grabbed a cup of Viet iced coffee. I totally forgot to snap a picture of the drink menu, but I do remember the drinks being reasonably priced. My bowl of pho came out super fast! They gave generous portions of both tripe and tendon, so I was super happy about that. I tried the broth on its own before adding in any veggies. I prefer a very deep and rich pho broth, this was very light/bland and honestly wasn't hot enough. The Ho Fun noodles were slightly firm because of the broth temperature. I'm also usually not one to add sauce directly into my pho, but it needed it. Even after adding hoisin, sriracha, and toppings, the pho was just okay. I was pretty disappointed but anytime I'm given a hearty serving of food, I can be pretty forgiving. The viet iced coffee was very well rounded. A lot less sweet than other viet iced coffees you can get in the area which I appreciate. It kind of tastes like they only use milk or cream rather than condensed milk, the coffee itself has that nice roasty/bitter flavor viet coffee is known for. I'll have to grab the Thai iced tea next time! We had asked if could get the Thai iced tea with coffee added into it but they said they sadly couldn't do that. The Garlic Noodles with grilled beef and egg rolls was great! Just like the first time we had it in January. The tender beef paired with a bite of chewy noodles was the perfect mixture of sweet soy sauce and garlic. I would definitely come back a third time just for this!

My daughter's favorite Cajun restaurant Bucket of Crawfish is also owned by this family. Quality/Quantity - Today we supported the Cajun side and got the following: Cajun Wings - 10 pieces. Love me some deep fried wings! Glad we got the larger order. I think I ate most of the wings. Fried perfectly and each wing was of good size. Combo #1 - Crawfish, mussels, and shrimp (head off for $2 extra) with mild Cajun sauce. We also added 1 extra corn. Garlic Noodles - Regular size. How can you NOT like butter and garlic! We should have ordered a large...? But actually it was more than enough. Crawfish Fried Rice - This was actually better than expected and of generous size. Atmosphere - This was a brother/sister shared location. But now it seems like it is one business...? The sister owns the Bucket of Crawfish and the brother owns Pho Anh Dao. But today they seated all of us on the Pho side. Fairly large space. Still very few customers here even for a Saturday when we visit, so good for us. In the past, it was hard to find parking, but it is not a problem now. Plenty of street parking and I think they share a private lot with the motel next door...? Open 6 days a week, from noon until 9pm; closed Mondays. Service - Good/excellent; 5 stars as usual. We also like supporting the locals and family run businesses. We have supported this business since the "shooting." Optional bibs. This is a finger food type restaurant. Price - $99 + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2014 at this location and since 2010 in Utah.

I used to go here a lot many years ago... the food has changed poorly. The pho soup, mediocre. Affordable, yes! If you're on a budget and need food fast this the place to go. It's not my first go to. When time is limited it's better than the fast food places in this area. Shout out to the only latino host in the front that serves Vietnamese coffee pretty good. Banh mi sandwiches are terrible. Bread roll harder than a rock and whoever made my sandwich was having a bad day. If you want tasteful, amazing pho Sidestreet Pho on Encinal ave near Park st. (Alameda) is the place to go. Phenomenal. Soup, always piping hot!

Was initially a bit skeptical coming here because it felt weird that the pho placed shared a space with the Bucket o Crawfish, but they probably have the best pho on the island. The food came out fast and piping hot. Prices were very reasonable and portions are generous. Servers are always very nice and helpful. This is our new go to pho spot on the island! We also love the option of getting fries with our pho.

One of my favorite places to go and have some soup whenever I'm having a day off because it's nearby... My 5 stars mostly go to their customer service!!! Those servers are so sweet and always welcoming. I love their spring rolls with a side of peanut butter but i just wish they could make the rolls little bit richer... I had the beef stew with egg noodles this time and it was so good! Pictures below lol It's a good spot for rainy days for friends and family.

Just tried out this spot today. I ordered the #9 Pho Large size. They also have XL if you have a bigger appetite. I would say the broth is is pretty good. It arrived fresh n hot. Service was very good n I felt welcomed the minute I walked in. There's plenty of parking in the back so thats a big plus for me. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for some good pho!

3.5 and feeling generous to round up. My visit took place this past Thursday late evening as a first-timer. This place shares with a crawfish place. Upon walking in, head to the right for Pho Anh Dao and left for crawfish. The restaurant was surprisingly empty. Just like at every pho restaurant, I usually get Pho Tai, this time was no different. The broth was delicious and I didn't feel thirsty later. The beef was tender and had just the right amount, I actually would've liked a little more noodles. The bean sprouts were extremely fresh and crunchy. Sauces were provided separately and already pre-poured into little dishes. The fried tofu with garlic sauce was shared and it wasn't overly greasy or fried. The sauce paired nicely with the crisp of the tofu. I can't personally say to not order the beef stew noodles as I didn't try it, but the broth looked a little too oily with the naked eye and someone's stomach didn't quite feel well later. Service was great, food came out really quickly, and restrooms were clean. I'd order the Pho Tai again in the future if I'm craving pho and in this part of Alameda. #29/2021

Currently fighting a cold and was craving some Pho. I haven't had pho since moving to the bay three years ago and thought I'd give this a try as it's super close to home. I was very pleased with the quality and quantity in my to-go order. The ingredients were fresh and neatly packed. The broth was hot and ready to serve when I got home! The small portion is great, but I recommend the large if you're VERY hungry.

I ordered the seafood noodle soup and the broth just didn't hit the spot. I can't explain the flavor but it didn't seem like they focus much on the broth. The hofun tasted like overnight hofun. Some of the pieces were still hard. I love imitation crab meat but I don't think it should belong in a Vietnamese noodle soup. It just doesn't blend with this type of cuisine. All I can say is that I tried it. Will I come back? Most likely not. I rather drive through the tunnel and head toward international for better Vietnamese noodles.

The duck salad was a hit. Citrus, some fish sauce. A great way to open up your appetite. The wings also had a bit of fish sauce funkiness on their glaze, and were juicy and crispy. The shaking beef with the with the rice noodles and lettuce was also a crowd-pleaser. The beef was tender and flavorful. We tried two hot pot flavors: sweet and sour and the pork bone broth. I preferred the sweet and sour one with the fish, prawns, and lots of interesting veggies like okra and the bac-ha which was fanstastic at soaking up the broth. I found the pork one a bit gamey, and the pork being already in the hot-pot was not super tender. Service was friendly and generally attentive. I've tried both the Oxtail/beef and pork hotpot, both were really good, I like the pork a little better because I'm a huge tonkotsu ramen fan, and the broth reminded me of that a lot. The beef luc lac, which is sort of like shaking beef over vermicelli and lettuce is also excellent. They now charge extra for broth refills, which they did not the first time I dined here, around a year or so ago. The pho was right on. Piping hot soup that didn't cool down until after you're done even on a cold day. That's just perfect for the wintery weather. The soup was so good - the right amount of aromatics and the beef flavor. And it wasn't overly oily. The amount of meat to noodle ratio was perfect, and I would even dare say I felt there was a lot of meat for a regular bowl of pho that I didn't end the pho with just noodles but had meat to go to the last bite. The rice plate, where we had pork chop with fried spring rolls was yummy! The pork chop was well seasoned that my kids ate it without complaining anything about it. Some places use black pepper and even too much of it to potentially cover up for lack of flavor or perhaps low quality meat. The fried spring rolls were delicious and not too oily either. The bun though with good amount of fresh greens was still a very filling bowl with the amount of meat, spring roll and noodles. The taste of it with the fish sauce was reminiscent of bun in Vietnam. The only thing that ok instead of being amazing was the marinated fried chicken with sauce as it was on the spicier side with the fresh chili and the marinate didn't seem to penetrate into the chicken well enough. Service was reasonably fast, but then again we were there before the restaurant filled up starting at 7pm.

It warms my heart to see that Mintleaf is still a popular staple after all these years…read more As an Alameda native, I have good memories of eating here when I was younger, and whenever I visit, I love bringing my husband here too. I wouldn't call this an authentic Vietnamese restaurant per se, more so an Asian fusion place, but Mintleaf holds its own in terms of flavor, freshness, and variety. Service has always been attentive, and while small, the restaurant is clean, cozy, and modern. There is also outdoor seating if you are bringing a dog. I have dined with my well-behaved, well-trained Siberian in the past. Recently, we were in Alameda to do my dog's birthday photoshoot in honor of my previous dog, and I wanted to go to Mintleaf again. It was later in the evening, and I saw that they close at 8 pm. We arrived around 7:20 and while the staff were starting to clean up since the restaurant was empty, they still greeted us with a smile and seated us promptly. Not long after we arrived, a small group of people also came to sit down, and they were also seated. Another individual arrived to place a to-go order. My husband went with the scallops and prawns over garlic noodles, and I went with their version of bun rieu. We did not have to wait long for our food to be brought to the table. My husband's noodles arrived first, served with their classic plating of slices of tomato and cucumber on the corners of the plate (they have done this as long as I can remember). Soon, my bun rieu arrived, including a small side of herbs. My broth was piping hot and delicious. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and while they were thinner than the usual bun rieu noodles, they still absorbed the flavor of the broth well. The cha was thinly-sliced, and there was a good amount of tofu in the bowl as well. Even though the bowl might look small, it was a perfect dinner portion, and with plenty of broth. I was definitely full after savoring each last drop of broth. My husband loved his garlic noodle dish. There was a good helping of both scallops and prawns, and the noodles were deliciously garlicky. I had a sample of the noodles and they were so good. There are other dishes I've tried in the past, such as the pad Thai and sizzling spicy lemongrass chicken, and they have both been excellent as well (sorry I have no recent photos). Mintleaf is not your usual Vietnamese restaurant, especially with its classier touch, but personally I enjoy their dishes, and will definitely return when I want an Asian fusion wrinkle to my Vietnamese food.
