    Beef Pho

Quick fast service even during busy lunch service. Came here with co workers and saw many people in here, but within 10 mins food was ready even with multiple tables ahead. Pho was decent (pricey) and beef was tender and juicy. Pho broth well seasoned and noodles were cooked just right. A great place to grab a quick bite during lunch.

Came by on a lazy Thursday afternoon--low-key vibes, a quiet family dining nearby, and a calm, relaxed atmosphere. The service was prompt and friendly, which made the experience even better The Bun Bo Hue was absolutely healing--rich, spicy, and the perfect sinus-opener. The broth had just the right level of heat, bold without being overwhelming. They need to keep this on the menu--it's a standout. The Imperial Rolls were next-level--moist, clearly made in-house, and nothing like the dry, pre-frozen versions you get elsewhere. Filled with shrimp, ground chicken, and black mushrooms, they were perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The Ginger Tea had a beautiful presentation and a warm, aromatic flavor that tied the whole meal together. Pho 84 delivers comfort, quality, and care in every bite. I'll definitely be back.

Perfect spot for a hot, reasonably priced, really nice pho before a show. On a Thursday night it was mostly full. Surprisingly they didn't have a large selection of pho, but my beef one was tasty. Nice twist is that they didn't put lemon or lime, but Meyer lemon on their veg plate. That was a first for me, it was nice!

Love Pho 84! Always come here in a large group and the service is great. They work hard to get everything done in a timely manner. I ordered the Vermicelli Bowl #8 with beef-- which also comes with 2 spring rolls. Love the pickled veggies on top and their fish sauce to pour over is awesome. I also love their coconut milk chicken curry. This is always my go-to and it never disappoints!! I do wish it was spicier, but maybe you can request this--I've never tried. The curry comes with a side of rice as well. Both portions are very generous!! The inside of this restaurant is small, but always accommodating. Once came here as a party of 12 and we fit!

Delicious oho! I admit I look at one star and five star reviews first. The one stars made me apprehensive as I witnessed one such scenario start to unfurl. I did have to wait quite a while for my menu but I already knew what I wanted, Jasmine tea and rare steak pho. Once I ordered things moved fast without rushing me. Keep in mind I came at the end of lunch order. I can't be frustrated at a slower speed in that situation. My meal was tasty. I'm happily full.

Tried Pho 84 for the first time and ordered the veggie pho -- it was light and fresh. Just a heads-up, there's an extra charge if you want a large bowl. The Vietnamese iced coffee was mild and smooth, but it was pre-made instead of the traditional drip. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the service was friendly and the vibe/ambiance was relaxed.

Arrived at 12pm pst. Seated immediately and order taken immediately. The decor is warm and cozy. I ordered a water no ice and a tamarind base soup tofu and veggies which was tart and sweet. Everything was hot and fresh. I would recommend 10/10. I hope to come back soon.

They have some of the best pho in the area. It is pricy but you do get what you pay for, for service and quality. Recently took a coworker friend hear for their birthday. It was their first time and the loved it. It was fairly busy but service was fast. We had our food within five to 10 minutes and got back to work withing our hour.

Excellent Pho!! The best I've had in the East Bay. Located in Downtown Oakland on a side street along with a bunch of other small businesses. Quaint and Cozy but doesn't work out too well for large groups. The wait staff is always nice and friendly when I stop by for lunch. Two thumbs up:)

Tamarind Canh Chua Soup Chicken Salad

My cousin has been coming here for years and highly recommended this place and now I see why. We got the shrimp spring rolls, chicken salad, and cahn chua (spicy hot and sour lemongrass soup). Every was super tasty, especially the lemongrass soup!!! Flavorful, good balance of textures, and very satisfying. The service was also very good and all of the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Getting around to trying all of the places I've been eying for some years has been slow for me, especially when I find a spot I like and I've already decided I'm sticking with it. Well, that took a turn a few nights ago. I didn't feel like driving and with Pho 84 being on my list of local restaurants to try, I pulled the trigger and walked. We were seated almost immediately. That put our experience off to a good start. It was a full house Saturday night, so being seated upon entry was a plus. I can tell that who I presume to be the owner is very attentive to his guests. With that type of attention, I asked what he'd recommend. After eying the Spicy Curry Shrimp for some time, I was happy that was what he suggested. It was between that or the Spicy Curry Fish. I ordered the spicy curry shrimp which is served over vermicelli and a side of seasoned rice. This dish? Warming, savory and filling. The rice was needed, and at first I didn't think I'd need all of the rice but with the amount of curry on my plate, it was the perfect +1. We also had the shrimp spring rolls as an appetizer. Their sweet and sour sauce has a nice spicy kick. Good ambiance and they're located on 17th street. It's pretty close to 19th st bart as well. Maybe like a block or two away. The hours are limited but they have been here for years. It's worth your taste buds to come here.

I was craving Vietnamese food and randomly ended up here. The food was tasty and the service was fast. My only issue is parking sucks.

Wow there special for the day! Bún bò quế! Taste the sweetness straight from the bones, for real...

Authentic yummy Vietnamese goods and friendly staff. I heard they are the oldest Vietnamese restaurant in Oakland! More than 40 years! I guess I never found this gem until now. Check it out..they have an updated website is originalpho84.com. Don't get confused, by the hackers who's been milling our friendly pho 84 neighbors for years!!

With my luck, my car would smell like hello kitty for weeks. Anyhow, I found Mẹ Và Con on yelp, a mother-daughter owned resto that opened in 2024. They serve bánh khọt and have outdoor seating so we headed over. Thankfully, we arrived before the Sunday dinner rush (~5:45 pm) and before the parking lot was filled. Rezzies are accepted (via phone). M E N U Viet Cuisine with some elevated, modern twists (no specific regional specialty). Smaller menu than your typical hole-in-the-wall with 25-30 items including AZN fusion items like shrimp ceviche, kimchi pasta and tom yum pasta. Beer, wine, and soju cocktails available. F O O D * Bò Tái Chanh: Beef Carpaccio w/ Thai basil, fried shallot, house tangerine sauce ($18): https://tinyurl.com/nhcn9kxw - Served at dinner only Fresh, tender slices of beef carpaccio with a sweetness from the tangerine sauce and white onions. I appreciate their twist (tangerine sauce instead of nước chấm) but it was too one note for me...IMO, it needed acid and herbs. Plus, I miss the texture of peanuts. * Bánh Khọt: Viet Mini Pancakes w/ shrimp, coconut milk batter, herbs, pickles ($24): https://tinyurl.com/34nx7sat - Served at dinner only Fav dish of the night, the savory bánh khọt was delicately crispy and slightly custardy in the center with a snappy shrimp drizzled with fragrant scallion oil. It came with romaine, mint, and perilla leaves neatly layered for easy wrapping. The lettuce was a bit soft and soggy tho, and I think they forgot the pickled veggies. Served with a tiny portion of tangy sweet nước chấm. * Bò Lúc Lắc: Shaking Beef w/ soy, garlic, onion, cherry tomato, arugula ($26): https://tinyurl.com/3rkpukct Meltingly tender cubes of filet mignon but light on the seasoning and aromatics so it was bland. Also, was hoping for more smoky wok hei flavor. * Thịt Kho Tàu: Braised Pork Belly w/ hard boiled eggs, rice ($21): https://tinyurl.com/mr2evryw - Includes bowl of rice A traditional dish served during Lunar New Year, it symbolizes prosperity, warmth, and stability. Chunks of pork belly are caramelized in sugar and braised in coconut soda and fish sauce - rich, savory with a good ratio of lean meat to fat (4 pieces). Wish they used more braising liquid when warming up, as some pieces were a bit dry. S E R V I C E Warm, friendly hospitality. Food does take awhile tho...our first dish took about 30 minutes to arrive. A M B I A N C E Casual, no-frills indoor area with about 10-12 tables. Cute covered patio in the parking lot with 5 tables and fairy lights. Overall, Mẹ Và Con is a great place to introduce people that are new to Viet cuisine and/or you're looking for Viet dishes with different twist.

My fiancé had the vermicelli bowl which he said was pretty good with all the stirred fried tofu, veggies and mushrooms. What was surprising the most was the Vietnamese pancake. It was so good that I would come back for just this appetizer. It has a crunchy texture on the outside, but the inside was so creamy. Wrap that with a lettuce and dip in the fish sauce and wow! Because once you are seated, you're served immediately to get you on the way. With service, don't expect tier 1 experience, but you'll get your water/tea. Savor it, don't assume they'll come back while you're still eating. Just saying! There's a few things on the menu that are must have.. 1. Chow Jew Ho Fun with soup on the side - the obvious that everyone orders. I like to get soup on the side, and then put about two tablespoons soup back into my noodle and add all the sauces! Then occasionally, sip the soup to wash everything down. 2. Beef Stew Ho Fun - My boyfriend's must have. Flavorful, soft meat, delicious. 3. Fish Cakes - Personally, I don't care for fish cakes, but my boyfriend and his family order it all the time, so of course I'll still eat it. It's still good. I'm just a person who feels I can buy it from the banh mi shops and it taste the same. Lol I don't eat anything else here. This is one of those restaurants where you go and eat what they're known for, not wander off too far away from the menu because the other stuff is just legit filler items. The only problem I have is, it's so expensive now for a small bowl. So it makes me not want to come back, but at the same time, flavors are really good. You just would think with the amount of customers, the business thriving, you could at least keep the portion size the same as before..

I mean it's a pretty good deal. #2 Banh Mi Dac Biet/Special Combo Ham Sandwich - If you're looking for a cold italian sandwich but want to explore new options this is a vietnamese version that also has pate butter taking it to the next level. #7 Banh Mi Xiu Mai/Meat Ball & Egg Sandwich - An elevated version of the #3 with an added egg. I think this is also slept on since I don't see many people ordering it. #13 Banh Mi Xa Xiu/BBQ Pork Sandwich - This is their secret weapon. My god the sweetness from the bbq pork with the pate butter is incredible. I always look forward to eating the bottom end of the sandwich because that's where most of the flavor and butter are hiding. You don't have to ask me twice if I want to grab some banh mi here. But do be aware that at certain hours of the day it can get very busy and crowded. Either to super early when opening or closer to closing about an hour before. For new comers, I highly recommend starting off with #7 or #13 for your introduction to their banh mi for a better first time experience.

The only thing that made the sandwich edible was the bread itself. It was fresh light and airy as I remember it to be. I hope they will focus and maintain quality in the future. I regretted spending $65 there for food I was afraid to feed my family.
