We were hoping this place would open soon, took over an old pho place that lost its touch years ago. The same tables, new and different menu, place was simple and clean. We ordered the pho dac bite, very good portions, and a 14, which consisted of beef slices and beef balls. Service was absolutely friendly, not like before. Well worth giving it a try!

Finally got to check them out. Menu is simple with all the usual Vietnamese staples. Big portions! Great service! Good food! Interior looks identical to before, not sure what was remodeled. Big plus is their homemade sate and pickled garlic. Fresh noodles were also a nice option. Broth needs a little work but solid place for pho in Oakland!

Ask we walked in, the hospitality was already so welcoming. Best customer service I've had at a pho restaurant! Food was delicious, drinks were delicious. We got the beef pho, BBH, wonton noodle soup, seafood salad, and fish sauce chicken wings. Will definitely make this place a regular now. Sauces were also fire! Garlic is a must when there.

The pho was hearty, full of meat and flavor. The grilled meat with broken rice was also delicious.

I ate my fresh shrimp spring rolls so fast, it was so good but I was also really hungry lol I had to order the mini shrimp pancakes because it looked like it's a "must" order... Pretty underwhelming but, it had a nice seafood forward broth and it was very hot with tiny pieces of shrimp and lots of cabbage. I'd get it again. Then we got the chicken salad. Delicious. Shrimp chips were fun and the dressing had a great balance of sweet, and vinegary flavor with lots of chicken and fresh veg. Pork bahn mi was just okay. I've definitely had better. Bread was good. Meat was pretty sparse and the pickled veg could have had more flavor. Probably would order the pho next time. Everyone seemed to have that on their tables. And the sizzling beef looked great. Service was quick and courteous. I'll be back to try more

We started with the Shrimp Papaya Salad, a refreshing and juicy mixture of shredded green papaya, carrots, pickled daikon, and mint tossed in fish sauce, garnished with shrimp, fried onions, crushed peanuts, and shrimp chips. We then tried several house special dishes including Bo Ne, a sizzling platter of savory marinated beef, pate, cha lua (Vietnamese pork ham), onions, and two fried eggs, served with a Vietnamese baguette on the side. Every component was so flavorful in its own way, and the runny eggs were perfect for dipping with the light, airy bread. Next, the Canh Chua was a southern Vietnamese soup made with pineapple, tomatoes, tamarind, and okra, topped with catfish steak, fried garlic, and herbs, served with a bowl of broken rice on the side. The broth was rather light and sweet from the pineapple without much sour flavor at all--this is one dish that's probably skippable (unless you really like soups). My favorite dish of all was the Cha Ca La Vong, turmeric-coated catfish fillets grilled with dill, scallions, and onions, and served with fresh herbs, lettuce, and rice noodles on the side. The sizzling fish fillets were super savory and flavorful, contrasting perfectly with the refreshing herbs and the rice noodles. Overall, the food here was absolutely on point, and the service was quick and no frills. Everything came at a good value, and the restaurant setting was clean and modern--what a hidden gem!

I thought that was such a meaningful way for a local business to step up and take care of the community, especially the kids who are often the most vulnerable when families are struggling. Of course, good intentions got me through the door, but the pho is what keeps bringing me back. I ordered my usual pho with tendon and brisket, and the broth was incredible -- deep, aromatic, and full of flavor without being overly heavy. The noodles were also perfectly cooked. They had a great chew and bite to them instead of becoming soft and mushy like they can at some pho restaurants. What started as a visit to support a business doing something good has now turned into a spot I visit about once a week or so. Great food and an even greater heart. Thank you, Monster Pho, for looking out for your community and especially for the kids and families who needed a little extra support.
