They even got a cute backdrop for photo ops. The celebrant had the private karaoke room. Nice roomy set up. Any available song to your choosing. Then by 9pm, there's a DJ setting up in the main room. Few of us got our groove on. Used the restroom once cause they had ran out of paper towels. Tried a few of their appetizers and they were good enough. Bartenders are attentive. So don't come here if you actually want pho LOL, but if you just want to party, it's definitely a vibe here haha. We've never seen a club/restaurant type like this, so it was really amusing to us. We wanted late night munchies so we mainly came here to check out the scene and for the pho. We got to order a couple bowls of pho, chicken wings, and fries. It felt like it took a long while for our order to get prepared, which it shouldn't because it's pho.... Once our order came, the broth of the pho bowls were just... warm? The meat took a bit to be fully cooked, and the broth was either salty (one bowl really salty), another bowl just tasted like chicken stock. I didn't get to try it personally, but I heard it was just below mid. The fries tasted like mcdonald's fries, which is a good and bad thing, but portion size was pretty hefty. I had the chicken wings and I actually liked them, it was very crispy! You can definitely feel how oily it is though. So the food overall was just eh, besides the fried food maybe. One thing that kept bothering us throughout our dining experience was that the lights would flicker to the bass of the music. It was definitely messing with our eyes lol. Otherwise, the club side seems pretty lit, but there was no one dancing on the floor on a friday night. The sound system is definitely bumping, DJ out there was playing all the bay area hip hop music, but everyone else were mainly just at the bar or tables. I really wanted to enjoy this place -- the menu looked great and we were excited to try it. My wife and I came in with high hopes and placed what I thought was a pretty straightforward order: I got the Combo 2 pho, my wife ordered the pork chop rice plate, and we shared some appetizers -- shrimp rolls, egg rolls, and pork belly. The appetizers came out and were decent enough, but that's where the positive experience ended for me. I sat there watching my wife eat her pork chop rice plate while I had nothing in front of me. No pho. I waited easily 20 to 30 minutes -- and if anything, that's a conservative estimate. Anyone who's ever been to a Vietnamese restaurant knows that pho is almost always one of the first things to hit the table. It's broth that's kept hot and ready. There's no reason it should lag behind a rice plate or take half an hour to arrive. What made it worse was the total lack of communication from our server. Not once did she come by to acknowledge the delay, offer an explanation, or even check in to let me know my food was on its way. I shouldn't have to flag someone down to ask where my meal is. A simple "I'm so sorry, your pho is coming right out" goes a long way -- that's just basic hospitality. Our server was a young woman who, frankly, seemed either undertrained or indifferent to the experience of her tables. I don't say that to be harsh -- I say it because it's fixable. Someone in management needs to invest in proper hospitality training, because attentiveness and communication are non-negotiable in the restaurant industry. I've dined at hundreds of restaurants over the years, from casual spots to fine dining, and the standard of keeping your guests informed is universal. I eventually left without ever receiving my pho. My wife finished her meal, we paid, and we walked out -- with me having eaten nothing but appetizers. That's simply unacceptable. I hope the management reads this and takes it seriously. I can't say the staff nor the environment were warm or inviting based on my pickup experience (things were quite delayed, but to be fair it was dinner time midweek). I ordered the house special vermicelli noodle plate. The portion was fine but it was on the greasier side and lacked flavor. I took a bite of the shrimp and noticed it wasn't cleaned well. 3.5 stars Sort of random upon walking in... there were booths like a restaurant and an upstairs lounge area and a huge extensive bar. There was a long hallway with picnic tables lined up that leads to a dance floor with booths. I guess they have clubbin type of events because their tv screens had ads for VIP (21+) and DJs and such... We came here for dinner because the rainy weather called for soup and needless to say it was what the kids would call "mid" experience. We arrived at 6:30 and it took a full 15 minutes until they took our order - we ordered at 6:45 and it took 20 minutes for the food to arrive at 7:05 - this is surprisingly long for a phó spot since usually the broth is ready and only the fixing need prep ((shoulder shrug)) it also wasn't very busy when we came in - they had a "security" guy since they stay open until 2AM - and then there were only 2 other staff and a bartender and whoever in the kitchen. It was chill on a Sunday night- but the night before I suspect was a rager since that was the clubbin night with ads for Valentines day. The soup itself was okay, nothing bad but also not spectacular for me to rave about it. Servers were kind - just took longer than most pho spots... it started to get busy at the bar and restaurant when we were leaving... All in all - glad there's a spot to clurb in Alameda - they were playing good dance hiphop music without the DJ so I bet it would be poppin for that type of event - but for pho dinner night out - it was "mid" If the service was quicker it would have been full 4 stars. read more

Okay, I have eaten at Taco Fino, Hayashi Japanese Cuisine, Ole's Waffle Shop, Island Taqueria, Peppermint Baguette, La Penca Azul, Monkey King. Where else? Pho Nation as I have never dined here. They have a nice selection on their menu - appetizers, noodle soups (pho), vermicelli, rice plates. After perusing the menu, I decided to have the tofu vermicelli with veggies. I had to doctor it up some (bland) with their sauce. The cocktail drinks looked appealing, but I have to watch my alcohol intake due to health reason. Thus, my choice of beverage was a glass of fresh lemonade. Wow! That lemonade was tart and sour. Perfect drink for me for being such a sourpuss. LOL. The portion of food was generous. I ate half of it and the other half was saved for leftover the following day. The veggies consisted of steamed mixed vegetables, shredded lettuce, fresh bean sprouts, cucumber, pickled carrots and daikon, chopped green onion, fried shallots and peanuts. Service was attentive. Waitstaff made sure I was okay and asked if I enjoyed the meal. Ambiance was comfy and casual. The only problem I had was sitting in a booth where the table was a tad high for my short stature. Ordered take out here as it was one of few if not the only open late pho place in the area. The food was decent and would rate it a 3 or 3.5/5 stars, but was baffled by the portion. As one of the most expensive rice plates on the menu, my Grilled Beef Short Rib rice plate came with only 1 full piece along with a scrap bone piece. Pictures show it should come with 2 pieces which I think is a reasonable portion and to be served that scrap bone piece completely tanks the rating on this place for me. read more

The teamwork and attitudes of the staff was great and they were knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. The food was very good. The atmosphere was nice and apparently on Friday and Saturday there's a DJ that plays hip hop and top hits and people drink and dance. Parking can be tricky. I have no complaints. I will note that i have worked in the restaurant industry for the past decade and while i understand that service should not be a detriment to the food, i can barely unravel what transpired here. I sat down at 11pm on a wednesday night, a server with red hair and glasses came up to us and asked for our order within maybe 2 minutes. We ordered 2 bowls of pho and chicken wings. About 20 minutes later we saw a table that had ordered after us get their food. Which i did not think anything of as this could happen due to the order. Me and my friend were talking, diligently waiting for our food. A different server came up to us about 10 minutes (by this point it had been over 40 minutes) and asked us if we had EVEN ORDERED OUR FOOD. obviously we were shocked by this because we told her that another girl had taken our order. This new server apologized profusely about the order not being sent in. At this moment i had taken a scan around the dining area and there were maybe 4-5 tables max all of which already had food. Not only were we upset but the girl who had originally taken our order came back and dropped off some lemon drink which she didnt apologize for and didnt acknowledge that she had even made a mistake. I looked for their email on their website, which to my dismay did not load (website). We ordered the food which we had ordered nearly an hour ago to go, and they gave us thai teas as if that was meant to solve the very clear neglect they had on the FEW tables that were in the restaurant. I normally would NEVER complain about a restaurant's service as i myself have been through that hell hole but the overall lack of concern they had for the few customers that were in house is irresponsible and alarming. The street was closed off I think due to an event so we had to park around the corner on the street. There is a back section and second floor overlooking the dining area with white coaches, overlooking bar but I didn't got to those sections. However, I won't be coming back to this place. The food was sub par, it's not worth my drive from Hercules to Alameda. (Plus I had the runs after eating here, and same with my friend.) Pho broth was diluted, that pho broth taste is underdeveloped. Meat quality was wasn't good as well - it's not fresh and portion for the price is not justifiable. Short Rib BBQ rice plate was also not worth the hefty price. The meat quality is poor, it was chewy, dry, and it's lacking that rich grilled beef flavor. We were looking for a late night place for dinner after a movie at the Alameda Theatre and this restaurant came up and we decided to try it since it's just about 2 blocks from the theatre. This place is huge, with a bar in the front, a big area for dancing and a dj and a very long set of tables, with private rooms as well as a nice cozy set up in the back with booths, and a stage and disco ball for dancing or music. We sat in the back as the music was pretty loud in the front. We ordered 3 items, the rare steak pho with egg noodles #6, vermicelli with chicken, pork and shrimp (#13), and the grilled pork chop with soup and salad (#23). The food was very flavorful and tasty. LATE NIGHT PHO 5/5 I love pho and I love that this place is open til 2am on a week night and the food is amazing!!! I can't believe it took me this long to finally eat here. Walking in feels like you're walking into a huge club. There is so much space and rooms with high ceilings. It just gives off such a cool and chill vibe going in. On one side is a long full bar and the other is bunch of tables. There is also another room on the side and huge room in the back and long benches with a photowall in the middle. I was amazed with the space. I want to host a party here. Back to the food. Since it was my first time, I always want to try their combo pho and summer rolls. They had two combo versions, so I tried their combo #1. It was made to perfection. It was a huge bowl with generous amounts of good cut meats. All the meats were so tender and the broth was so tasty I didn't have to add anything to it. I always get the raw meat on the side. And these cuts were so fresh. I enjoyed it so much, but there was so much I had to take the rest home. On to the summer rolls, they were GIGANTIC. I have never in my life had shrimp summer rolls this thick and long. The shrimp inside was also large and and it was full of veggies and noodles. For drinks, I tried their fresh lemonade and you could taste how fresh it was. The Thai Iced Tea was also amazing. Their pho is pretty good! I like the portion and broth. Their fried chicken skin is divine....!!!! Absolutely try it. Their cocktails are good too! If you don't want to drink, get their thai tea. We walked in here last Saturday for a birthday party. We liked the backroom, which was set up on the floor like a mini-nightclub equipped with a dancefloor and deejay. We walked to the cashier to order and pay for our meals. I found it interesting that there is an automatic 18% tip. Read your receipts, my friends, because I didn't get to tip more for better service or better food. My daughter and I ordered pho because it was in the name of the restaurant. She ordered the Vegetarian Pho Tofu & Mixed Veggies Soup, and I ordered the well-done brisket pho soup. My daughter really liked her Vegetarian Pho Tofu & Mixed Veggies Soup because it was packed with veggies. As for my well-done brisket pho, the noodles were good. Unfortunately, although the brisket was swimming in broth, the meat was extremely dry. I hoped it was just a fluke, but every piece of meat I ate in my bowl was thoroughly dry. Also, the broth tasted like it was watered down. It didn't have the rich, deep flavor I expected from a good pho broth simmering in a large pot for several hours. As for the wine, I can't exactly recall the brand because I've never had it before, but it was the $16 pour of Cabernet Sauvignon that started with the letter "w", come early, because by 6:30pm they only had $6 glasses of Rodney Strong. Came to Pho Nation for the first time and IT WAS GREAT (Tony the tiger voice). First let's talk about the customer service. It was top tier, everyone was polite and attentive. I have an onion allergy and they made sure none of my food arrived with it! I ordered a #4 Rare beef and well done brisket pho, B3 Grilled Chicken Banh Mi, and fried shrimp egg rolls with a Thai Ice Tea. The food came quick, all of it was hot and fresh. The veggies on the banh mi were super crunchy and extra flavorful. So much so, I ORDERED ONE TO GO! The pho was exactly how I like it. They brought it with the veggies on the side so I could put as much as I wanted. The Thai Ice Tea got drank to the last drop. Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of anything because we ate it all! Our party was rowdy and a few of the guys are metal band members vocalists, guitarists and bassists so we definitely were in that kind of mode with our "singing". I'll give this place a mid tier. Perhaps a 3.5. Service was straightforward but done in a rush. I understand that the vibe is up to par to that pace. The place is huge and spacious. It has more of a lounge feeling and very good for groups. Service was good with them coming often, mostly to fill our cups of water. Price wise it's a bit higher than other palaces and be had pho. Went with the fresh spring rolls. Along with a nice tasty peanut sauce. Chicken breast pho And a the number one mixed pho. Green tea. Plenty of hoisin sauce, chili oil, and something similar to sriracha. I added a little too much spice but it was comfort. Tea comes in to go cups. Everything was tasty and flavourful. The restroom was very clean and well stocked. The bar/restaurant was very roomy and had space to move around in. They also have a VIP room for people to rent for parties or advance.
