Variety of kabobs
Jenny N.

They were pretty busy when we went so it was really hard to get service :( understandable but also keep that in mind if you go on a time crunch. We had to keep flagging for utensils/water and plates- even after our appetizers were delivered. We got cucumber appetizer, variety of kabobs/skewers and garlic noods. I will say I did enjoy my kabobs but no explanation of which were which- just a drop and run honestly. The garlic noodles were brought out but then taken away because they forgot the Parmesan seasoning but I think they just had the wrong order/table as they brought another one out in like 5 or more mins. All in all- it's a cute place with a lot of potential. They have karaoke rooms and a full bar.

***This review is about their lack of service.***Zero stars for that***Food is still good 4 stars*** After coming here the high school reunion and tasted some of their dishes, my wife and I came in for a early Sunday dinner around 4pm and the place was pretty empty with one table. We were seated right away and our server took the drink and food orders, after everything we ordered came we never saw the servers again. Not once did they come back and say how's everything or do you need anything or would you like another drink. Nothing!!! I would understand if they were pack and busy!!! But like I said place was pretty empty. Now for the food we order several different dishes and they were all pretty good. Butter Garlic Noodles with Mushroom, which they forgot the mushroom was good with flavor. After I raised the issue that there was no mushroom, they didn't charge for the entire dish. That was pretty nice of them. Mongolian Beef was flavorful, but more onions than beef. Garlic Stir Fried String Beans was very good and perfectly made. Salt and Pepper Wings was good. Crunchy on the outside and moist on the meat. Shrimp, Pork & Green Chives Dumplings were just okay, nothing special about it. No chives taste to it which I love.

Great location by the waterfront at Jack London Square. The interior was dark, masculine with prominently dark wood with large-scaled seating booths. The bar area was a bit of a mismatch. Large windows to look out over the San Francisco Bay. The menu was sort of a mixed bag. Some dishes aesthetically displeasing like the garlic noodles and chicken wings were actually good and tasty. The tater tots and dumplings were a miss! In the beginning, the server was friendly and chatty. But once the order was placed and the food served, the server was very difficult to flag down. Catching any of the servers attention to ask for the bill at the end of the meal was taxing.

My husband and I decide to visit Jack London Square and take the ferry to the San Francisco ferry building. We found a restaurant with Taiwanese food. Had to try it. Wow- what a pleasant surprise. We were in a rush so we got the stir fry noodle- it had a good wok flavor, noodles nice and chewy. Fried squid was very tasty. We got a table by the window- very nice view. Our server was great.

Nice establishment located on the water in Jack London Square. Very cool and warm vibes. Happy hour is only 2pm-5pm which is weird since happy hour typically starts at 5 pm Food was good. Service was ok. Seems they forgot to put our drink order in, otherwise it was a pleasant dining experience. Plenty of seating with nice water views. Nice bar with several TVs.

Updated review; actually a tip. I found this out from a friend who dined there recently. If paying for dining and you're using a credit card, there is a credit card processing fee of $6.00. Better bring cash to pay for the meal. Margarita going for $21.00 a glass. That's pricey.

Came with a group and ordered a bunch of dishes to share with the table. I really only had a taste for chicken wings and loved them. They were very crispy, full of flavor and very temperature hot. I even had enough to eat for lunch the following day. This was a backup place instead of monkey king.

The view is beautiful, peaceful, it has a prime location on the Jack London Pier, but the owner and host (I believe is the owner) doesn't have any experience with service dog laws in the U.S. so I would not recommend this place to anyone. The prices are exorbitant as well, a drink costs on average of $21 from their cocktail menu. The appetizer we got was greasy and weren't very flavorful nor reminiscent of a Chinese dish. We ended up going to a different restaurant for dinner because drinks alone ran up a bill of a $200 for 4. I'd recommend they take time to review the laws around customers and the regulations required to hold their license.

Location, location, location! I doubt you can ever go wrong being situated on the waterfront. Stopped in Friday night without a reservation and was immediately fat in the bar area, plus. I have a suspicion that their main priority is to see the bar side rather than the main dining room area which has been slightly converted. Overall I think the decor is lovely. I like that the bar offered booth seating and smaller tables. I wish they could figure out their music volume, periodically you would be get a loud blast but the music selection was great, r&b all night. For drinks we started with an espresso martini and a lemon drop. Our first round was very good, however, I was disappointed with the second drinks as they ran out of glasses and service us plastic cups and my espresso martini looked more like a rum and coke and had a horrible flavor. This is a family style type of restaurant, and the portions are quite generous. We started with the spring rolls, they were decent but I believe they're more exciting options, popcorn chicken which was very yummy and finally Kung Fu rice with shrimp great flavor one of the highlight. Our server started off overly attentive and came back every 3 minutes trying to take our order and then at some point just disappeared for what seemed like 30 minutes and we had to flag down a food runner for our bill. This place has great potential but there's still some room to grow and perfect the experience.

I have been here 3 times Food is good, ambiance is nice, view of the water is calming. Prices are reasonable, and drinks are good I had my Galentines event here Rented a Karaoke room. The room was nice but it was really hot in there and the AC was not working too well, also we pressed the "call button" to order drinks and no one ever came. My guests had to go to the main bar and order from there. We were told their main bartender called out.....so bar service was super slow..... Karaoke room prices are $88 per hour with a 2 hour minimum and 15 people max. You can bring your own champagne or wine but there is a corkage fee Things could have been better if staffing was more available I parked in the garage and paid $14

Dragon gate moved to this waterfront location in October 2024. It's a beautiful location with nice interior decor and feel. Only thing was the music was on the louder side but it makes sense when the place doesn't have sound panels to drown out the loud conversations. There weren't many diners when we were there so food came out relatively quick. Service was good and efficient. The food was overall alright. It's more of the location and atmosphere you're paying for eating here vs the quality of Taiwanese food. It's not bad, but it's not something amazing either. We had fried pork chop, stewed pork belly, beef noodle soup, Taiwanese sausage and seasonal greens. Nothing particularly stood out among all these dishes.

I think the lighting was very bright white (think being in an office) for the evening, but other than that, the tables were nicely spaced apart so you weren't sharing tables or having to hear other peoples' conversations, but still cozy. The service was a little unattentive and slow. Even though we were seated immediately, it took 3 attemps of asking to receive water and no one came by to take our order. I eventually got up to use the bathroom. There was a line of 3 other people. By the time I came back, no one had come by to take our order still. Eventually we flagged down a different server who took our order. The portions were pretty small but priced like a full entree (for the type of food I felt like we were getting). We ordered the Tofu Cream Maitake noodles, Tofu Cubes (I think that's what they were called?) and Scallion Oil Noodles. Typically we order maybe 4 dishes or 5 dishes at a regular Taiwanese place but after we saw how small the dishes were for the price, we just kept it at 3. The Scallion Oil Noodles were fragrant and Crispy Tofu Cubes were really good. The tofu cubes were more like BLOCKS and had great crispy texture. That was probably our favorite dish. I had such high expectations for the tofu cream noodles but it was really bland, not "mild", it was bland. And the flecks of maitake were just lost in there somewhere. It was disappointing because I love maitake and tofu!! All in all, it was an okay experience but I'm glad we stopped in. I don't think I would come back but it's definitely worth one try! Maybe if we were eating meat dishes, we would have had a different experience? This vegan will never know. In summary, the food was fresh and well-prepared but the portions were small and too pricey for what it is.

(not quite as dark brown in color and didn't have as much of that silky gelatinous mouthfeel that comes from the skin and fat in the pork belly.) however, a lot of the other dishes we tried were really good! i loved the seasonal clam dish they had, and their eggplant noodles were also amazing. next time, i think i'll order just the eggplant though because the noodles were really filling. overall, good to eat is a great restaurant for introducing people to the taiwanese cuisine and a decent spot for hitting a taiwanese food craving in east bay.

This time, we ordered a few dishes to try - the classic sesame paste noodles, Shan Dong chicken, the fried rice with shrimp, and the hot spicy eggplant. Since we did order delivery on a busy Saturday night, it took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was expertly packed and we were given plenty of utensils and napkins. The sesame paste noodles are one of my favorite dishes here, there's a balance of sweet and salty offered in the creamy sesame paste sauce that's so addicting. I've always been a big fan of the hand-pulled noodles which are thick, bouncy and chewy. The Shan Dong chicken is deep fried and coated in a delicious sauce. It is more of the sweeter side if you're looking for something that's spicy. I appreciate that we were given large pieces as well! The fried rice with shrimp is amazing - I love the crunch of the green onion, the softness of the fried egg, and the texture of the rice and veggies which weren't soggy and still held a nice bite. Last but not least, the hot spicy eggplant was a great choice because it's usually the trickier dish to cook as eggplant can turn really soft and mushy. I was delighted that with the way it was prepared, the large eggplant pieces still held a tender texture that did not fall apart. I also enjoyed the sauce that was paired with the eggplant, which is oyster-sauce based and added a pleasant sweetness as well. I'm always looking forward to my next visit and I love supporting Shan Dong!

Lo and behold, this was the closest place when we checked the app. It was just a few blocks from where we were, and they have a designated parking lot. If I recall, dinner was approximately $28.99 per person, which is pretty affordable in this day of age. Of course, as I am writing this, prices could change. Lunch is even more affordable at $23.99 per person. Upon arrival, the lady/owner warmly greeted us as she simultaneously seated us. She handed us a menu and explained the process. You pick a broth base as it comes with that articular meat of your choosing, then select the different rolls of meat. There are also different sides available (like chicken feet and tripe). There is also a self-serve cooler fridge that contains the usual hot pot items that you can add to your bowl from veggies, protein and noodles. The soup options are the following: - Spicy - Tomato - Sacha Seafood - Curry Flavored - Hot & Sour - Pork Tripe and Chicken - Beef Brisket - Beef Rib - Wild Mushroom There was also a sweet (not-too-sweet) drink in a large carafe-type container that was quite delightful. It was light, tasty and quite addicting that I kept refilling my cup. The vibe of the place feels old and homey; however, most of the customers were young, student-types. Perhaps UC Berkeley students? It also wasn't busy and half of the restaurant was empty. Most of us were seated by the front. All in all, we had a good dinner as the broths were seasoned well and not overly salty. Yes, most of the dishes are self-serve, but you can control the portion this way. I also enjoyed the chicken feet and tripe, which aren't typically on a hot pot menu in most places. There's also the hidden protein inside the broths. Whatever option you order (i.e. chicken, pork) there's hunks of them on the bottom for you to discover. It's like having a hidden reward. It's a good hot pot spot that won't break the bank.

When we ordered our meats set, she gave us the wrong meat and we had to send it back but we realized maybe 60 seconds after she left and she wasn't happy about taking it back. Then our party of 4 went to get the side dishes like the veggies. The same waitress (possibly owner?) came by again and said "dont take too much, if you don't finish we will charge you by the pound." Geez!! First of all we did finish it all. Second of all do you think this is our first hot pot rodeo?? She came by later all smiles and was like "is everything ok??" Now moving onto the food. The food seemed stale, especially the sesame balls and sweet bread. The water dispenser tasted a little of plastic from the container it was in. The black tea tasted metallic. The sides were basic but they looked like they even sitting in the fridge for too long so I didn't partake in all of them. The soup base was ok. Nothing special.
