I haven't eaten in at Monkey King Pub & Grub since 2019 and it was just as good as it was then. We ordered lychee martinis at the bar and Mongolian Beef Chow Mein and it was both significant portions, the martinis were delicious, and everything came out swiftly. I loved the 2000s hip-hop R&B music and it was busy, but still relaxed at around 6:00pm. They take orders via QR code but the staff checked in on us often and were warm and helpful.

We ordered wings and got breasts. They made it right with a phone call letting them know they made a mistake. They gave us credit for a new order. Today they got it right! And delicious too :-) Samantha was super helpful and fixing everything !

I love monkey king, always have. The music and lights are always a vibe. I'm a huge fan of the lumpia and the crab fried rice, full of so much flavor! My friend and I were greeted as soon as we walked in and were able to seat ourselves immediately at the bar. From there we were handed menus to look over as we waited for someone to take our order. The only reason I'm giving a 4 star review is because it was my first time dining in (I usually just order to go) & wish we received faster service.

We had dinner at Monkey King. We ate at the bar. We shared the salt and pepper wings with fries and the green beans with tofu. We also had a regular and mango margarita. The margaritas were average. The green beans were very good. The wings were just meh, they needed to be cooked a bit longer. I may return another time, but would come earlier in the day to see if the chicken wings and drinks are any better.

Smaller Portion of Sweet and Sour Fish

SMALLER PORTIONS OF THE SWEET AND SOUR FISH. Anyone that has previously ordered the sweet and sour fish, especially as a to go order knows that they use to fill the container nearly to where it could not close. Their portions used to be extremely generous, which is why I was so disappointed in finding out that they now only offer eight chicken nugget sized pieces. It's an obvious change that I'm sure other previous regular customers will recognize. I will say the flavor is the same, but it definitely doesn't feel as worth it as before given the amount and size of pieces they now provide. I will order this item again, but definitely not as often and with the portion size mind.

My date and I wanted to have the hot 'n sour soup again. Thus, we dined there two days ago. He ordered the 10 wings. Instead they brought out garlic fries with 5 wings. I ordered the chicken laab, which was a generous portion and on point. The other two items were garlic noodles and soup. The service is still lacking. This time around they brought out the garlic noodles, the garlic fries with wings and the chicken laab. We waited quite a while for the soup. I have been to plenty of Asian restaurants for family dining. The appetizers and soup are the first things that arrived, followed by several entrees and dessert. Drawback: Truth be told. I hate reading those menus stuck on the table, and ordering the items from a mobile device is totally ugh. Food may be great. However, I still can't up the rating to a four star. It is still a three star. Not sure if I want to do a third visit. Perhaps another option would be better. Call them, place the order to go. Then I would rather go elsewhere close by to dine; namely Alley & Vine.

We went here with the address linked on google but they did move locations just down the street but I wish they posted it on the wall it be easier. Everything is ordered on your phone and if you want drinks, you need to order in the front. Seems like more of a place that people usually pick up their orders because people were coming in and out rather than having a sit down. I went here with my friend after work and the food came out fast. I think some of the food was rather salty but overall pretty good. My friend and I really enjoyed the garlic noodles. It terms of the ribs, I didn't like it at all. It was rather dry and so salty- I couldn't taste much of the meat but just the batter. I think the fried rice is a good side and overall the portion sizes were great. Ate and was satisfied and had tons of left over to take home!

Another night out with a rather large group. They usually visit, but this was my first time. It was very cold inside, but we stayed for less than an hour. The menu was very big, but I knew I wanted chicken wings. I had the korean chicken wings and they were very good. Not too spicy, and were still good airfried the next day. It wasn't very busy and service was quick. I didn't drink anything, but the bar looked like it had a creative menu.

A must-visit place for anyone living in the area (4/5 Green Stars)…read moreBring cash! That's the first rule of Schmidt's Pub. Maybe it's the only rule! I've been coming here a bit more regularly, lately - more visits in the last year compared to the previous decade, in fact. Now I wonder what I was waiting for. According to the East Bay Express, Schmidt's Pub is "basically your living room, but better" - that does sum it up, except that very few of us have living rooms anything like this, with a cozy fireplace surrounded by comfy armchairs and rustic tables beside sunny windows. Not many of us have living rooms with Old Speckled Hen on tap, or populated with an entertaining parade of quirky folk and friendly dogs. If the people and dogs are not entertaining enough then pick up a copy of Calvin and Hobbes or A History of Clay Pipes (okay, I made that one up) and have a little retreat with a pint. 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on these factors: * Beer on tap (transported in reusable kegs) has a much lower footprint compared to bottles or cans. * Allows you to bring your own food, which is good for folk like vegans who are often more comfortable with BYO. * The snacks available at the counter could be a bit more Berkeley (or Albany)! They were mostly from big corps - Lays chips (PepsiCo) and chocolate bars from Mars. Would be nice to see a more imaginative/ethical selection. * A great community space with an inclusive atmosphere. Schmidt's is home to many groups (e.g., knitting) and provides a second family for many, some who send postcards from their trips! * Finally, we shouldn't underestimate the importance of having a place to slow down, reflect and connect with each other a little. In that respect, Schmidt's Pub is worth its weight in gold.

7/28/24 Zach, Coco…read moreand I were on the way home from a night at Lake Chabot and decided to stop by Seawolf for lunch. When we drove by, we got a parking spot right in front. Seawolf is mainly a bar, but you can order food as well. For outside seating, you go inside to order (no one will greet you and tell you unless you go inside) and they will bring the food out to you. Here's what we got: - Hazy beer (for him) - Jumbo whole wings (buffalo flavor) [for him] - Breakfast burrito (mine) The menu is quite limited. It wasn't busy that day so we assumed that the food wasn't going to take that long, but it took 30 minutes. If you're here on a sunny day, I would suggest that you also bring a hat / sunglasses since there's no overhead covering. In terms of the food, Zach said his wings were good and wished he had more. The salad that came with the burrito was refreshing. The burrito is good too, a little spicy but tolerable. Honestly, I think they prioritize the bar and people in the bar first so maybe that's why the food took a while and no one came to check in on us. Overall, it's a decent spot for a quick bite.

I hadn't been here in a while, and I noticed they had done some major renovations inside--it looks like a new bar altogether. One downside is that they don't have traditional menus; you have to use a QR code to place your order and make payments. Unfortunately, the system didn't work well when trying to add or delete items from the meal. I had the bacon cheeseburger, and in my opinion, it was just average. The burger patty was quite thin. My girlfriend had the Southern chicken sandwich, and she mentioned that it lacked the spices she would have expected. They only had about eight beers on draft and not many other beer options. However, the bar seemed to have a decent selection of standard liquors. The bartenders and kitchen staff were extremely friendly, which was a highlight. However, the tables lacked condiments, and we had to ask for silverware, salt, mustard, etc. No one came to our table during the meal, so we had to go to the bar for refills. On our way out, we noticed a back room set up for comedy nights, although it wasn't in use at the time. We were told they usually have comedy shows every Friday night and sometimes on Saturday, depending on other events. We definitely plan to come back in the evening to catch a comedy show or just for drinks, but I doubt we'll return for a meal.

From the very beginning, the customer service was lacking. Before finalizing my event, I visited the venue in person to ask questions and get a better understanding of the space. The Hispanic male employee I interacted with was unfriendly, unapproachable, and unable or unwilling to answer even basic questions, repeatedly telling me to contact sales. While I understand that sales handles bookings, I expected someone who works at the venue to be able to provide some level of assistance or information. Unfortunately, his attitude remained the same during the event. Several things that had been requested were not set up as discussed, and the overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming. What upset me most was that some of my guests arrived carrying water bottles, and this employee openly told me, in front of my guests, that he would kick us out if he sees outside drinks again. I found this incredibly embarrassing, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate. The experience became so uncomfortable that many of my guests left early. For what was supposed to be a special occasion, the service and treatment we received fell far below expectations. Considering the amount spent, I expected professionalism, hospitality, and a welcoming environment. Unfortunately, we received the opposite. I would not host another event here, nor would I recommend this venue to others looking for a place to celebrate an important occasion.

Every dish was beautifully plated but, more importantly, actually delicious. You can tell there's real attention to detail in every course. The highlights for us were the perfectly cooked beef dish with the rich sauce and potato gratin, the risotto, the strawberry tart dessert, and honestly the bread service alone deserves recognition. Even the little sweets at the end felt special. Great wine selection too, which made it perfect for an anniversary dinner. Service was polished, attentive, and professional without feeling overly formal or uncomfortable. The only downside was the reservation/seating situation. We weren't able to get reservations and ended up seated outside on a pretty cold evening. Thankfully the heaters helped a lot, so it was still comfortable, but it did feel a little odd seeing the dining room only about half full while outdoor guests stayed outside. Also worth mentioning: this place is definitely pricey. Not somewhere we'd casually stop into on a random Tuesday. But for a special occasion like an anniversary, the overall experience, atmosphere, presentation, and quality made it feel worth it. We'd absolutely come back again -- just with reservations next time.

I sat at the bar and was served by the owner of the Pub, who is from the UK. I loved chatting with him about the pub and all the fun things that go on there. The pie comes out steaming hot with a nice layer of browned mashed potatoes on top. There is real crust to this kind of pie. Underneath the mashed potatoes is more like beef stew. Large chunks of tender beef and vegetables are sitting in a delicious Guinness stew. On the side, a fresh salad to go with it. My wife and I had just visited Abbey Tavern this past weekend, a premier Scottish pub in the City, and we expected a similar atmosphere. However, the moment we showed up, we were met with great disappointment. The Goose & Fern is honestly a terrible place to watch a sports match: there was only a single TV mounted in the back corner of the restaurant, the TV wasn't particularly large, and the speakers had been turned completely off. What a bust. Although the food was decent, especially the Shepherd's pie -- which came piping hot in a small cast iron skillet, the service was downright dreadful and almost non-existent. We never received waters (or were even asked if we wanted beverages), our table wasn't given enough silverware, we were never checked on during the meal, and we were waiting around for 30 minutes twiddling our thumbs before somebody from our party finally went up to try to pay for the check. In hindsight, a tip was not warranted for the lack of service. Overall, Yelp grossly misled me on The Goose & Fern. This is not a spot I would stop by again to watch a sporting match. If you're in this part of Santa Rosa, do yourself a favor and head over to Dave and Busters down the street where they have a bunch of massive screens, tons of beer options, and service that will far surpass what you're getting here.

Cooked well and had 3-4 small sticks of celery and a really good bleat cheese (may have had fresh dill in it). Pretty delicious actually. The 1/2 pound of wings kinda surprised me because it was 2 flats and 2 drums. 4 in total. Thought maybe I'd get at least 6. Deviled eggs. They looked soooo good. I liked how they had a lil of the deviled egg filling on bottom of the deviled eggs so they wouldn't wobble around. The amount of filling was high and was ok in taste. The mayo or something they used in it was on the sweeter side. The other people in my party loved them but too sweet for me. I tried some of my friend's Carnitas Nachos. They were goood. A very generous helping of nachos. I tried my friends spicy non alcoholic drink and it was really good! Bathroom was clean.
