7/28/24 Zach, Coco and I were on the way home from a night at Lake Chabot and decided to stop by Seawolf for lunch. When we drove by, we got a parking spot right in front. Seawolf is mainly a bar, but you can order food as well. For outside seating, you go inside to order (no one will greet you and tell you unless you go inside) and they will bring the food out to you. Here's what we got: - Hazy beer (for him) - Jumbo whole wings (buffalo flavor) [for him] - Breakfast burrito (mine) The menu is quite limited. It wasn't busy that day so we assumed that the food wasn't going to take that long, but it took 30 minutes. If you're here on a sunny day, I would suggest that you also bring a hat / sunglasses since there's no overhead covering. In terms of the food, Zach said his wings were good and wished he had more. The salad that came with the burrito was refreshing. The burrito is good too, a little spicy but tolerable. Honestly, I think they prioritize the bar and people in the bar first so maybe that's why the food took a while and no one came to check in on us. We visited Seawolf for a late lunch on a Weekend afternoon. It wasn't very busy at the time, which was nice. I hadn't been here in a while, and I noticed they had done some major renovations inside--it looks like a new bar altogether. One downside is that they don't have traditional menus; you have to use a QR code to place your order and make payments. Unfortunately, the system didn't work well when trying to add or delete items from the meal. I had the bacon cheeseburger, and in my opinion, it was just average. The burger patty was quite thin. My girlfriend had the Southern chicken sandwich, and she mentioned that it lacked the spices she would have expected. They only had about eight beers on draft and not many other beer options. However, the bar seemed to have a decent selection of standard liquors. The bartenders and kitchen staff were extremely friendly, which was a highlight. However, the tables lacked condiments, and we had to ask for silverware, salt, mustard, etc. No one came to our table during the meal, so we had to go to the bar for refills. On our way out, we noticed a back room set up for comedy nights, although it wasn't in use at the time. We were told they usually have comedy shows every Friday night and sometimes on Saturday, depending on other events. We definitely plan to come back in the evening to catch a comedy show or just for drinks, but I doubt we'll return for a meal. read more

I think this place wins on convenience and hours for some other choices in the area. They beat some nearby place on location and service. There aren't a lot of brunch places in the area, so this place is a solid option. Especially for a boozy lunch. Being more of a bar kind of place, it's a little surprising, so they have lots of space. So, on more of what you'd expect a place like this - I'd actually get food here and bring it over to Original Pattern, rather than get what passes for pizza over there. Not that Seawolf's beer selection is bad, but it's hard to compare that to an actual brewery. read more

Great spot for food, fun, and family! This place has a family-friendly atmosphere with games that make it perfect for a fun outing. I definitely underestimated my appetite because the portions here are no joke! I ordered the double bacon burger with fries and a pretzel, but I could only manage to finish half of the burger and some of the pretzel--it was super filling! Parking was easy, as we found a spot on the street. Just a heads-up if you're visiting Oakland--be mindful not to leave anything visible in your car. Our server was fantastic--very attentive, friendly, and quick to bring our drinks and refills. I also really liked the unique ordering system, where you can place your order straight from your phone at your own pace. Overall, a great experience with delicious food and a fun vibe! We were in-town for the July 4th weekend so decided to attend the Sunday 8:45 pm show on July 5 at the Sea Wolf. The website said the tickets would be $23.50 if reserved online ahead of time, and $25 ticket at the venue. But--when we arrived, the host at the door charged us $40 per guest. It is really not cool to up the advertised fee by $15 per guest and it soured our upbeat mood. The stand-up comedy talent was ok. Not great as we had seen some of them before at a different venue. Given the upcharge for the entry fee, we would appreciate an explanation for the $15 add-on per ticket, when we had planned on $25/ticket, which would have left us enough balance for us to both enjoy a few adult beverages. Found this tavern while searching for another place and decided to try it. One because it looked like a locals only tavern and two because we found parking right out front. We came into town for an expo and had our rental Jeep filled to the brim with merchandise so we really wanted to eat somewhere with a patio overlooking our vehicle. This fit the bill! The service was no frills. Since we sat outside we had to go in to order at the bar which wasn't a huge hassle but also doesn't rank for more than 3 stars for service. Thankfully they brought our food to us but we had to get our own drinks. I got the Koren fried chicken sandwich which was hot, crispy and juicy. Three bun was toasted and fresh, slaw was crunchy but it was very heavy on the gochujang (red pepper sauce). I like gochujang but it is very messy, and will stain your fingers for a bit. Overall, solid chicken sandwich. The fries were light and crispy though they didn't look like the fries I had seen on previous posts which looked beer battered, these were more like fast food fries. My friend got the cheeseburger. I asked her how it was and she said, "um, it was fine." The veggies were fresh but they serve it cooked however the chef wants, which seemed medium well. As far as outdoor dining ambiance, it was a Zero aesthetically. We say at a little wooden table on the patio overlooking the street with a rickety red umbrella swaying every which way beside us. I give it 5 stars for having a parking spot directly out front though. Inside definitely had more of a London pub vibe, but since it was 230p only two people were inside. Seems like it would be an easy neighborhood bar to go to, but if you are in town looking for a must try one-off, probably keep going. read more

My trivia team and I have been coming here on Wednesdays pretty regularly since June. We've come in first or second a handful of times, and last night we used the winnings we had accumulated to pay for dinner. We started with the nachos. Since we were celebrating, we added guacamole and carnitas. The nachos were okay, but overpriced even before the add-ons. (We were also overcharged -- I had just seen the price on the menu minutes before our bill came, so I knew it was wrong.) I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich, which is topped with gochujang sauce, kimchi aioli, and cabbage slaw, and is served with fries or salad. The sandwich was tasty and definitely spicy, but not overwhelmingly so. The last time I ordered food, I went with the Pesto Grilled Cheese, which I really enjoyed and will hopefully have again in the future. Seawolf has a somewhat limited food menu, but that shouldn't be a huge surprise. Since I don't drink beer, my review is only for the food, service, and atmosphere. read more

Awful. My wife and I went to Seawolf Public House for a comedy show and deeply regret it. The MC mistook volume for talent and nearly screamed for his part. Mind you this was a small room. Note to self: when the menu is 90% burgers, order a burger. She ordered the fish & chips and it was, "uneatable". Bordered on disgusting. Instead of wait staff they had those stupid QR code shit. You know where you have to sign up in order to order. Well I screwed mine up so my food order , fish& chips never arrived. Came here for comedy night and I loved the intimacy of the room. Perfect for a small comedy crowd. The categories were also unique ranging from slowed down songs, videos of movie scenes, all things Nevada, etc. We ordered some of the fall cocktails including the Rumplespicekin and Fired Up Old Fashioned. Both were relatively strong, but I enjoyed the Rumplespicekin since it had the apple cider flavor. For mains, we got the Korean fried chicken sandwich ($15), which was crispy but a bit too greasy. We also couldn't taste the gochujang, which was supposed to marinate the chicken. It came with fries that were delicious though. There's some sweet, sour, and salty powder on these fries that make them addicting to eat. We also tried the tacos (baja fish, cauliflower, and adobo chicken), which were also just okay. The cauliflower was a bit bland and the chicken was dry. The food didn't blow me away and it's a bit pricey as well. Underwhelming is an understatement. This was $18.. 2oz of beef jerky called sirloin, unmelted cheese, au jus that was 100% beef gravy from a packet, and a grand total of 10 french fries. The service was also hilariously bad. I sat at the bar and saw the bartender 3 times in total. Once to hand us the menu (yes, one menu for a group of multiple people), once to order, and once to give her a credit card to pay. My team actually made the window graphics for Seawolf, that's how I first heard about it and then we had celebrated one of my coworkers birthday here. Rip those delicious Mac and cheese balls :,(. Anyway, I'm right around the corner from here so whenever I don't have lunch at the office I walk on over for the West Coast Street Tacos. I usually get one of the following: Baja Fried Fish is my favorite: crispy even after 15 mins of travel. A little kick to it. Just straight up delicious. I always order 3 of these! Baja Cauliflower: equally as delicious as the fried fish but it falls apart too easily so I don't get it anymore but it's REALLY GOOD. Vegan Cauliflower: very good the sauce takes it to another level. Not tacos, sweet potato fries: I mean you can't go wrong with SPF if you like SPF... Other notes! Love how chill the place is. The times I've gone it wasn't overly crowded. Ambience is good you can hear people talk still. The staff is friendly. Beautiful old Victorian and great reviews! We decided to stop in yesterday early in the afternoon. We grabbed a seat at the end of the bar and scoped out the beer list. So far so good! The selection of beer was enticing, but we never got a chance to order. There were only about 8 other people inside the pub, and the bartender never greeted us or even established eye contact acknowledging our presence in the not crowded room. After several minutes of waiting we decided to spend our time and money at a great brewery down the block. Bummer! read more

(3.5 stars) I joined a group of friends to watch the UFC fight at Seawolf this past weekend. My friends got there early at around 6PM and snagged one of the last tables. Definitely recommend coming early for game days, or else it'll be standing room only. They offered their "fight night" menu, so we got a bunch of items to share: Jumbo Bavarian Pretzel - 5/5 I'm usually not a huge pretzel person, but this pretzel was so good that we ended up ordering two! It's hot, freshly baked, and super soft. I also liked the wasabi-like mustard and cheese dips they had. Nachos - 3/5 We added guac and chicken to the nachos and it was a pretty hefty portion. Thought these were solid and a good option for the table to share. Wings - 3.5/5 These wings were huge! Thought the dry rub flavor was slightly better than the Gochujang flavor. Caesar Salad - 3/5 I know ordering a salad at a pub is usually not the best idea, but the Caesar Salad surprised us! It was a big portion (enough to share amongst 5), and nicely dressed. Good option if you're looking for some greens :) French Fries - 2/5 The fries themselves were good, but they were so over-seasoned! The final few fries had so much seasoning, we couldn't even finish it. The service was also amazing! It was a packed bar, but the servers were so attentive and patient. We kept adding more drinks and apps to our tab and it was no problem at all. We ended up spending hours there, and never felt rushed to leave. Seawolf Public House is a hidden gem, operated by Monica, who cares deeply about her pub. To keep it brief, Seawolf offers fun events, (cornhole championships, UFC fight screenings, TVs with sporting events, karaoke, trivia and other board games) a robust drink menu including craft cocktails and rotating local drafts, all thoughtfully procured, and a fresh new menu from the old chef at Luca's Taproom. Their menu is delicious, and the drinks hit! To top it all off, and probably most important, their service and bar staff are top notch. All of them are laid back but attentive, genuinely cool folks that care-not just small talk and lip service. Special shout-out to Adam and Nate, who are always hardworking and have fostered a fun batch of local regulars, who really help to bring the ambiance to life there. My favorite bar to go for for quick beer fix and yummy bites in my neighborhood! After going there regularly we have started to meet other neighborhood legends and fixtures. A really nice sense of community there. The service is always outstanding. The menu stays relatively stable/unchanged but solid. We have enjoyed their Korean fried chicken sandwich, fish taco plate, pozole and more. Even if you don't feel like getting a hefty meal you can certainly opt in on small bites such as Brussels sprouts or grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. Hmmm I thought I wrote a review for this place but FAIL! Been here for weekday lunches and ALL DAY Taco Tuesday over the last 2 years...@ $2 each and $3 for the fried fish tacos!! The fish tacos with cabbage-cilantro slaw, little kick of jalapeño and drizzled with a mayo based sauce is probably my fave...lightly battered and delicious! The carne asada is a good second but definitely try each (5 kinds incl. a mushroom) to find your favorite. Other items to try: * MAC N CHEESE BALLS with marinara - you got it..Mac n cheese scooped into balls, dipped in Italian breadcrumbs and fried! - cheesey, crunchy, gooey bites * DEEP FRIED PICKLES - of course u gotta like pickles...light and crispy * KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN sandwich - crispy breast of chicken with a Korean chili-Mayo sauce and cabbage slaw - good to try 3.5/5 * CREME BRULEE - a pretty darn good one for a sports bar...creamy with the perfect burnt sugar shell on top 5/5! A definite WHOA moment! Great place to watch sports with a variety of beers, mixed and non-alcoholic drinks and craft sodas available. Service is nothing fancy but friendly and consistent. So I had been here many times over the years. Been here when it was a "cop" bar/pub called the Warehouse Pub as the last business in this spot. Then I had stopped in a couple of times pre-pandemic. The food level has for the most part stayed consistent. But it is significantly more pricey now than the previous business. It is still decently prepared pub grub, except now it has a more hipster flair, which makes it more relevant for the area. But even when we were allowed to sit inside, I just felt that they put in very little effort in the space. Almost zero ambiance and it looks even more worn and bare, than the previous business. Even the new outdoor dining area has these tiny umbrellas but offer zero shade. When the sun is out, you just bake out there. And with the new outdoor dining system, I just feel like there's a settling factor involved. For example there's a watered down table service. You have to get in line and order at a register before you get seated. You can't see/peruse a menu until you get to the register, which makes ordering feel rushed. The menu seems a lot smaller. And on one out, they were out of multiple things. They also don't take cash, or actually they can 'take' it, but they will be unable to give change, as it's their new system to not carry a cash drawer. So lots of having to settle. But the food/drinks (if they have it) is not too shabby. Really good craft beer list and full bar. To that is where I'm sure I'll be back. During early evenings, it is a cool place to chill. Drinks are very reasonably priced (under $10) and they're usually piping some cool jazzy 90's hip hop. A DJ was even in the mix one Sunday evening. Super chill. Pretzel ($8/5*) This is my go-to pub munchie here. It is ball park sized but it is so much fresher and delectable here. Nice slightly chewy crust and super tender inside. Perfectly salted (sometimes it's over done) and they serve this with a side of brown mustard and a cheese sauce. Both really good as dips for this wonderful pretzel. Burger ($15/2.5*) The bun is the best part, good quality bun, toasted nice too. But everything else is just super standard. If it is more special than one of the better fast food burgers, then it isn't by much. So now the $15 tag, definitely translates into an iffy value. Pre-pandemic I think they used to have a 1/2 off burgers on Wednesdays. At that price the value was decent. But for that basic burger at full price, pass for me from here on out. Chilaquiles Verde w/added Carnitas ($19/3.5) The chilaquiles part was pretty good. Thick chips properly sauteed in a decent salsa verde that every chip was coated. The carnitas add was on the modest end, maybe 4 oz. worth. The refried beans were serviceable, just wished it had some melted cheese on it to give it an elevated perception. 2 over-easy eggs complemented the plate, as it adds another sauce factor to the sauced chips. They also just gave me over-easy without me asking. That's the way I like it anyways, but if you prefer another style, you may have to let them know. So value wise, the food gets a meh, while the drinks gets a yay. So until they can open to more of what they used to be, I think this will be just a drink and a pretzel type of place for me. After that, I'm sure I'll give them another solid shot. read more

We found Seawolf on accident and now I feel at one with Bob Ross-"We don't make mistake, just happy little accidents" A quick look over the menu and we spotted baja style cauliflower tacos! Don't get me wrong I eat meat and seafood but something about a fried cauliflower taco just roped us in! Each taco had 2 deep fried cauliflower florets fried to crispy perfection! Drizzled with a spicy aioli, red onions and cabbage and you've got yourself a darn good taco! We also got fries on the side because...well do I really need to explain why we wanted fries?? Their fries! They speak for themself! The fries were on the thinner side and oh so crispy! You even got little over fried delicious nuggets in the basket we all fought to find! And what better to go with those fries than delicious ranch! Their ranch is amazing! Its super herby and creamy. I thinked I tasted a lot of tarragon which was so yummy.
