Fun atmosphere! The weather was perfect for sitting outside at Beeryland's huge outdoor space. There are two separate ordering areas: one for drinks and the other for food and drinks. Both seemed to be moving along smoothly, even with a packed house. Lots of beers, but now they have added some Tiki drinks as well. They have non-alcoholic options as well. Lots of food options, with quite a few that can be made vegan! I didn't order any food last night, but the fries looked really good. I will go back some time and try one of their vegan options.

This place is awesome!!! I love this beer garden for so many reasons. The open outdoor area is so chill. They have vegan food options and a wide selection of drinks. Today I had a michelada, and it was delicious per usual. I recommend trying their burgers if you're hungry. There are arcade games inside in the back, and they play awesome music

Lots of great local beers on tap and a great covered outdoor seating area that allows dogs! What's not to love here! The food was really tasty, they have an amazing sauce on their burgers. The staff were friendly and helped me select a few different beers to try. They also have a full cocktail bar in the back as well if you want something else. Definitely worth checking out!

This is a great casual place to grab food and drinks with friends. All the things I love about a beer garden except they have more than just beer and they have great food. The staff is friendly available to help. I had a birthday here once and they were very accommodating. You can also reserve tables in advance They always have some sort of frozen drink which are delicious, note that the frozen drink machines inside sometimes have different drinks than the bar so check both before deciding. Their other cocktails are delicious and unique. They also have a great assortment of beer and cider. However, my favorite thing to get here are the burgers! The mac n cheese burger is my favorite, but all the burgers are great. Nice, thick, juicy patties, fresh ingredients.

Smokehouse Burger and side of Grilled Mac & Cheese. Very filling!

Great selection of burgers. I had the Smokehouse which was great but also huge. The side of Grilled Mac & Cheese was very good and easily something two people can share. They also have many beer & drink options, including slushy drinks. I had a pumpkin ale draft beer. Outdoor seating but I was under the roofed area which also has plenty of heaters along the ceiling. Conveniently located down Telegraph from the Moxy Hotel if you happen to stay there.

When I first ordered from Beeryland i was extremely content! Last two orders have not been as well executed as I would have hoped for. Today I ordered a burger and animal fries and I guess the chef doesn't wear a hair net! And I didn't receive the soda I ordered. $47 dollars after delivery fees. I honestly didn't even bother finishing the meal. Disgusted and disappointed

The food is delicious drinks are good/ok the Latina bartender was disrespectful but the white girl bartender was extremely helpful on helping pick a drink and food. I can honestly say their animal style fries are better than In N Out 100-%

Beeryland/Telegraph Beer Garden is a nice gem located on the intermediate stretch of Telegraph between downtown and Temescal. I've long come here for their solid beer and boozey slushy selection, but I've realized one of their best strengths in recent years... their burgers! I recently visited and grabbed their smokehouse burger which comes with their delicious beef patty that's a mix of beef and bacon as well as a heaping topping of pulled pork doused in Carolina Gold BBQ sauce. This burger was excellent! The burger was juicy, flavorful, and super messy (just how I like them). I was also pleasantly surprised that Beeryland now serves their burgers with fries. For those not in the know, for many years they simply served their burgers with chips due to lack of a deep fryer. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my burger and the vibe of this outdoor beer patio. This is a great place to bring a group of friends to catch up or satisfy your late evening burger craving. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Check them out if you're ever in the area!

This was a nice find for Jamie W. and me. We had bought tickets for "Barbie" at The New Parkway nearby. We had a half-hour to kill before laying our eyes on Ryan Gosling's abs of steel and Barbie's Dream House (in that order). Initially we weren't interested in beer and burgers. Geez, do we look like frat dudes? It was an open air space with worn picnic tables and the brick walls covered with murals. Actually their food menu was quite extensive. A lot of burgers and a lot of sandwiches though no fries. Also a lot of draft beers and a good set of cocktails. Sounded like a frat party to us, but then we noticed they offered different flavors of slushies, five of six with alcohol. Even with frozen $14 temptations like Daiquiri and Paloma, we were most drawn to the Mangonada. It's one of my favorite Mexican treats. In its original form, it featured mango sorbet, chamoy, and fresh mango spears. The transformation here turned it into a refreshing Tequila Sunrise slushie with vodka and mango puree mixed together with the chamoy and the pint glass rimmed with chili lime seasoning (photo: https://bit.ly/3YGXKAx). The result was tantalizing. The vibe here was convivially urban as it was a mix of tech heads (yes, free WiFi), hipsters, and even young families. Fun on a weekend afternoon. COCKTAILS - 4 stars...the slushies get quite addicting AMBIANCE - 4 stars...honestly like a block party in the inner city SERVICE - 4 stars...cheery staff TOTAL - 4 stars...hard to imagine not having fun here RELATED - Exploring Oakland? When I went to close out my tab at the bar, the staff member who came over to help me gave me the dirtiest, impatient, pissed-off look that I've ever received in my life. It was as if I had kicked his dog and personally insulted him, his family and his entire generational line. When he gave me the payment device, he must have accidentally navigated away from correct screen because I didn't have any options to close out my tab (i.e. there was no tip screen, or place to request a receipt). I handed the device back to him and before I could point out the issue, he snatched the device away and rushed off. Knowing something was wrong, I waited at the counter for a few minutes for him to return. I raised the billing issue and his curt response was "you must have waited too long and the screen disappeared -- you're fine". I returned to my table knowing that something was off, but left with my friends since they needed to head out to a dinner reservation. After we had said our goodbyes to our friends outside the brewery, I shared the strange interaction I had closing out my tab with my wife, and as a precaution, she recommended that we head back to the brewery to try to close out the tab again, just in case something was overlooked. I thought this was a good idea, but this time, asked my wife to try to close out my tab, as I didn't want to experience the wrath of the impatient staff member again. To absolutely nobody's surprise, the tab was not closed out! This staff member is by far, the rudest individual that I've encountered in the service industry and should reconsider their employment if they hate customer interactions this much. Truly appalled by my experience and won't be coming back anytime soon. If management wants to investigate the issue further, the tab was opened at the outside bar at 8/14/26 4:23 PM, check #35, and was transacted on by three separate staff members: 1) first person who opened the tab was friendly 2) second person who added on the second round of drinks was the same rude individual who didn't correctly close out my tab later in the evening, and 3) the third staff member was the one who finally properly closed out the tab with my wife at 7:11 PM.

I ordered food to go, including the meat and pickled vegetable selection, pretzels, and cheese sauce. When I got home, I realized the cheese sauce was missing. I tried calling the restaurant multiple times, but no one answered the phone, so I had to drive all the way back to retrieve an item that should have been included in the first place. That ate up about 40 minutes of my evening. When I returned, I received a small apology, but no meaningful attempt to make things right -- no comp, no offer of a dessert, no gesture of goodwill. For a first-time customer who had to make a second trip because of the restaurant's error, that felt pretty disappointing. The pretzel situation was also confusing and left a bad taste. The menu lists "add a pretzel" for $3 under the meat and pickled vegetable selection. When I ordered, the server told me the pretzel came with the meal. Based on that, I reasonably assumed that if I ordered an additional pretzel, the extra charge would be $3. Instead, I was charged both $3 and another $6.50 for the extra pretzel. When I asked about it later, I was told the pricing was structured that way for gluten-free customers, but that was not explained when I ordered. The menu and verbal explanation did not match the final charge, and it felt misleading. To make matters worse, the house-made pretzel itself was disappointing. There wasn't even any salt on it. At a German restaurant, a pretzel should be one of the easiest things to get right: salty, chewy, browned, and satisfying. This was not that. Between the missing cheese sauce, the unanswered phone, the extra drive, the confusing charges, the lack of a meaningful service recovery, and the underwhelming pretzel, this was not a good first impression. I left feeling taken advantage of rather than welcomed as a new customer. I understand mistakes happen. What matters is how a restaurant handles them. In this case, Brotzeit had a clear opportunity to turn an annoying mistake into a decent customer service moment, and they didn't. I'm actually pretty upset writing this review. I forked over a lot of money, I'm and I dont have a huge going out budget, I work caregiving and I sometimes want to give myself a treat, and this whole interaction really set my evening off poorly. I ate later than I intended which cuts into my sleep, which in turn does NOT set me up for having the energy and mental strength to do my job, and I actually feel MISLED by the menu and explanation by the waitstaff and the apology and nothing else, no acknowledgment for the time wasted, and not even a "what can I do, let's make it right." Total. Disappointment. Yeah I am NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!! I shall NOT be giving ONE THIN DIME MORE OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY to this business!! They haven't returned my voicemail regarding my bad experience. They obviously don't care. And the cheese spread I did get smelled spoiled the day after. Didnt want to eat it.

Incident: My party of 7 came to Mad Oak around 5pm on Monday evening, 7/20. I did not have my ID on hand as I didn't realize I needed it for entry. I was not planning to consume alcohol. The staff member in charge of the outdoor entry let me in anyway after a little bit of friendly back and forth. One of our friends arrived later and similarly did not have their ID. The same staff member turned them away very rudely and dismissively. I went over to the staff member to let him know that our friend was with us and I also did not have my ID. He responded very rudely despite all members of our party being very respectful. He replied me saying, "What did I tell her?! What did I tell her?!", without explanation. Our friend who was turned away identifies as they/them and without explanation from the staff member, and inconsistent application of rules pertaining to ID, I suspect it might have been a situation where our friend was unfairly discriminated against for their appearance. To sum it up, it was not clear that IDs were required for entry otherwise I would have prepared my party ahead of time; the staff member inconsistently applied an already unclear rule; he did not explain why one guest was allowed and not another, even in the same party; and lastly, he was unnecessarily rude. Our whole party ended up leaving Mad Oak to go somewhere we could all be together. In my outreach to the restaurant a couple days later, I asked for a response to let me know that they have addressed the issue and there has been no response to date.
