I've been waiting to write this review for sometime. When I first walked in this place it was a decent place for pho. The rolls were not all that exciting but the service was wonderful and Jun is absolutely the best server in ALL OF UPTOWN WHITTIER. I've given it time as you should when you get great service and the place is new. NOW that they've been open for sometime let me say this...PHO AND ROLL is on my top 3 list in Whittier!!! JUN is STILL the BEST server and the ROLLS are pretty damn great!!! They've recently added some fried chicken and it's good as hell!! The PHO is better than Noodle worlds( I know that's supposedly blasphemy) and let me remind you I know Asian food more than most...including Asian. Although Pho is a Vietnamese concept it is very "L.A." Now. Although this place isn't in Downtown or ktown let me tell you I have yet to have a better PHO. I've been to a lot including te supposed PHO 2000 and it has nothing on this place. The longer this place is open the better it gets. Go see Jun and let him know Israel said to go by. I must say I love pho and have tried it at many places. I had come to realize that you have to sacrifice service for good pho. Boy did this place prove me wrong! I been here twice due to enjoying and loving my food the 1st time therefor my return but my 2nd visit was not as appetizing I order the lunch special pho and a roll (California Roll) I frequently eat rolls and know how they are suppose to taste. This roll was sour rice seem under cooked (hard) rice taste like it was rotten. I got so disgusted I told our waitress the deal and shes like you know rice is sometimes sour. She told another person working with her in her language and he approached me and laughed what you mean sour no no nothing wrong.(I felt like they got defensive towards me and made me want to at feel wrong) My boyfriend was been nice and his like its okay we will still pay. A few minutes later another customer I guess complained. I could see them looking at me talking and saying rice. I am facing the sushi bar and can see the sushi chef tasting the rice and making a face.. Had another employee taste it and I see them walk away with the pot of rice to the back of the kitchen. Very bad service. Wife and I went to try out for the first time and didn't get to try out because of bad service. We were sat and given menu to scan but server never returned to take our order. 25 mins passed and we asked another server and she ran inside, instead of taking our order. I think 2 stars is fitting... I had the Salmon skin roll and a spicy tuna hand roll. It was eeehhh nothing spectacular. The salmon skin was not crisped enough so I was eating this chewy salmon skin that stuck to my teeth. I like it very crispy because in some ways it reminds me of chicharon I am after all Sexican :). The spicy tuna hand roll was really bland. False advertisement I ordered SPICY tuna! My wife had the pho and said it tasted watered down. Maybe some pho broth in a can? Rolls are good, but anything outside of sushi should not be ordered! I don't know if they switched owners from last time, but I won't be coming here again. They almost cheated us out of 4 raw fish, chicken was sooo dry it could not be eaten, noodles didn't have flavor at all, it was soggy, boring, veggies tasted sour - not good. The wait staff works hard to keep the tables happy..not sure about the kitchen. I've only tried the pho, a simple dish and shouldn't be an issue for seasoned Vietnamese cook. On my two visits, I could only finish half of the small bowl. Either tasted like watery beef broth or burned brisket. The toughness of the beef and tendons was a real turn off. I love this place. Every time I've come here it's always been a nice experience. Nice staff and when there's not a while lot of people very attentive. I mean if there's a lot of people still attentive.. Lol They have great lunch specials. There edamame is pretty damn good. They put garlic on it I think. Yum. Just say it's not ordinary like most places serve it. They have boba which they make yummy. I'd preferably like a little more boba in it. Ha There mini salad they give you before your meal has nothing on Benihana's starter salad. This one I actually like. They don't put gross dressing on it like at Benihana. I got the caterpillar and rainbow roll. Both good and good sized. And they taste good. This is defiantly my fav sushi place to go in Whittier. In near shops and movies and there's lots if places to park. So if your in the area show these great people some love. Also for sports fans they do out on the games for you. read more

I really enjoyed my Pho soup and my daughter kept to her chicken and rice.. I also love the stuff jalapeños. Those were pretty good. There thai tea was perfect and the service was ok. We had everything we needed but no one asked if we needed anything at any point after we had our food. Other than that the service was fine, people were nice and we left full and content. read more

Food was amazing, but there was probably a cockroach egg in it. My GF is typically overly concerned, so I brushed off her concerns at the time we were eating. She placed a strange tiny brown item on my plate and asked what it was. I played it off, but it didn't look like anything else in the soup or meal. It had a hard brown exterior, and a soft gooey inside, it popped when I broke it between my fingers. Something just did not seem okay. read more

I liked it a lot. I had the beef pho and my BF had some sushi (sorry not a sushi person so I have no idea what it was) But he really liked it too. Pre meal salad was tasty, so was the soup. Tempura shrimp was not that great, like it better from Bambooze just up the street. Only reason its getting 3 stars is the service. The sushi and pre meal stuff came out fast. The pho, fried rice, and tempura shrimp took forever. We saw other tables who arrived after us get their food before us. My boyfriend asked the waiter and he said they had forgot to put our order in so it hadn't even begun to be cooked yet. He apologized but it didn't feel sincere enough, we were already bothered by then. When the food did come it was good but once you're upset its hard to enjoy it as much. I'm giving them a 3* review. Mainly because in the past whenever I have come the food was great, the prices great, and the service was great... But, all good things come to an end, the service has gone down hill, and I don't really feel like I'm welcome there anymore... Which is sad because I am a regular! There was one incident where the waitress was rude to my friend, she was thumbing through a book she had just purchased, and the waitress yelled at her like she was a child and told her to put her book away, so I wouldn't get good spilt on it. I wasn't aware that my friend was a child, and didn't have enough sense to put her own book away if she thought it was an issue. Also, my friend and I usually make little rests for the chopsticks out of the chopstick wrapper, and the waitress came to take some dishes we weren't using anymore, along with our chopstick rests.... It was pretty annoying, obviously this girl knows nothing about Asian dining etiquette and should probably get a job at Macdonald's. I left her a fat tip of .28 cents to round out my bill to an even amount and wrote a note stating, "keep the change and learn how to be a nicer waitress." I've been back since then, and she refused to wait on me, which was fine because my favorite server helped us :). read more

I came here with my co workers for lunch. I saw the grand opening on the front. So we gave it try. Looking for parking was not easy here. UPtown whittier can get really packed during tuesday. Pho-nomenal! Great lunch special, $6.99 Pho + 4pc California Roll. They start you off with a yummy little salad. The greens were fresh and crisp. The dressing was so good. Nice way to start the meal. This quaint little place is located in the middle of uptown Whittier. I had the lunch special $14.99 for two rolls. I chose the crunch dragon roll which was a little untraditional because it did not have eel. It was actually what most sushi places call a "hot night roll". It was a shrimp tempura roll with spicy tuna on top. My second roll was a spicy tuna roll with mango and avocado on top. Both rolls were very tasty and the spicy tuna tasted fresh. The Passion tea lemonade was also very good. Similar to what you get at Starbucks but just a tad bit sweet for my liking. However, they are refillable so it's well worth the price. The negatives about this place were the unfriendly, yet attentive service and the spicy mayo they put on the rolls. They were heavily drowned with this very rich and creamy sauce which masked the other flavors in the roll. Parking can be a pain but I will surely return. read more

This place has great sushi but I had to send my chicken fried rice back because the chicken was ridiculously dry. I also ordered noodles and beef and the beef was super dry as well!! I was extremely disappointed with my meal. Other than that service was great and sushi is always on point. If you're coming here just stick to the sushi and beer and you'll be good!! I love the sushi rolls here. The rice is very good and the plates are elegantly crafted. The sauce on the rolls is great! not the generic spicy mayo that some places put on everything. Every meal comes with a side salad with iceberg lettuce and some sort of amazing sesame dressing. I have had the rare beef pho here and I found the stock to be lacking flavor, but the meat was amazingly fresh! Personally, I think this is the best sushi in uptown so I keep coming back. I counted them), miso soup (only thing I enjoyed), Amber roll (bland, no flavor, falling apart & the shrimp tempura was just TEMPURA) & Dynamite roll (falling apart & bland, didn't finish it). No one asked us if we needed anything or if everything was ok. My favorite kind of food is sushi and this place was not up to par. The rolls were just okay, not bad at all but not great. What made me write this review was the horrible service. My friend and I went around 7pm on a Saturday, got seated right away and had our order taken and food all within 10minutes. A bit quick to have the food out for a busy restaurant but I was just glad to be eating. Once our food came we never seen our waiter until we were waiting and waiting for our check. Even the people next to us were waiting for their check and making fun of the service. There was one young male worker who also had an attitude, while he was wiping the table to the other side of us he was mumbling complaining about who knows what. The vegetable tofu pho was appallingly disgusting, frozen corn, Lima beans, broccoli, and carrots. I seriously have never had a worse food experience in my life. The service here is really good, owners are hospitable and you can tell that they are trying extra hard to be nice. The food was average, I ordered the popcorn lobster which came out overly fried. I was not a fan of the tempura they used it was just really hard and too crispy, it hurt my gums when I chewed, which was disappointing since i liked the flavor of the sauce that was drizzled on top. I also tried the fried rice, and the chicken was too old and dry. Im sure that since its a new business they are still working out the kinks.
