We love sushi & pho. This is by far the best Whittier. The crispy egg rolls are bomb too. Definitely recommended.

Went here for the 1st time tonight. It's located in uptown Whittier! Great dinner date spot because after you can explore the cute uptown Whittier area! My bf ordered their pho & I got their 911 sushi roll. Pho - very good size for its price. Broth was pretty good but even better with some Hoison sauce! Very yummy overall! Sushi - it took awhile for it to come out but it's understandable since it was dinner time. The roll was extremely good! Great sized and everything. This is one of my new go to sushi spots!! Love this place, we come several times a month to get the steak pho and specials on the beer.

Ordered the Shrimp Roll and the shrimp was hard and chewy. It seem to have been re heated multiple times and hard to even bite. Also ordered Pho-well done steak and it wasn't bad besides all the fat they gave instead of steak. Just gross. read more

I struggled between 3&4 stars. I thought their combo fried rice was not that good bc there wasn't enough seasoning. Also, the pho is good but I didn't find it to have enough flavor. I could understand why some people love it but I was totally disappointed that they don't serve it with Thai basil. I ordered a caterpillar roll decent size. I also ordered a passion ice tea. My blond waitress was rude I would say thank you after refilling my drink she wouldn't say anything back. Sub par pho.... zero vegan or vegetarian options. seen as their base is beef broth makes it hard even though it's a simple fix... rolls were pretty damn good looking though - didn't partake but my friends devoured them! Pho is tasteless. The meat very small amounts and tasteless. We trued everything we could to add flavor but to no avail. Service I'd top notch all they need is a new cook. Walked in the sign says please wait to be seated so my friend, girlfriend and I stood there for over 5 min a few employees saw us but never said we will be right with you or even acknowledged us. We were a party of 2 and showed up at 9:25 p.m. As soon as we entered, we were greeted and pointed to our seats. We were immediately given our menus and told they close at 10:00. Short version this place is ehhh This place is one you have to try your self and make your own option, I showed up for a to go one of the girls helped me she was very nice she was the only person I dealt with it took about 15 mins to get my food (and I got a glass of water while I waited)with was reasonable I ordered two bowls of plain pho, regular size ($9~)witch in most places is way more than enough. As I got my food I saw a couple get turned away because they where closing soon they close I believe at 10 it was 9:10?? Anyhow the portions where laughable the price was no where close enough to bring reasonable in my opinion for what they offered the broth is definitely different than most places definitely one you want to try. I prefer Pho Mai on Telegraph. I tried Pho & Roll because it is close to work, and I love Uptown stores/vendors. But the pho wasn't as good and the service was poor. My friend wanted a veggie pho and the server didn't seem to understand what she wanted. I'm not sure why that is confusing. Then she asked for cooked broccoli to put in her soup. The server brought her 3 pieces of RAW broccoli on a plate. ???? I would go back if friends wanted to try it - it's not like I hate the place. But if I have a choice, I'll just eat at another Uptown restaurant. If I want Pho, I'd rather go someplace else. read more

Came here last night with my toddler and my husband. Service here was appalling. Slow, disorganized, and generally confused was the vibe. Problem 1: No one offered us a high chair and we had to ask 3 times before one was brought out. Problem 2: My son was starving and cranky, so we asked for rice and miso soup for him immediately so he could eat and we could have a chance to at least look at the menu. They took their time with the rice and miso soup though which coupled with waiting for a highchair meant we were left to wrangle my cranky 2 year old the whole time instead of looking at the menu. My son is 2, how long did they expect him to wait? Problem 3: We were also very explicit since I am pregnant that the rolls we wanted did not have raw fish in it. My husband asked the server and he just seemed confused and brushed our questions off rudely, saying "It's deep fried". Not having been able to read the menu properly because we were busy trying to keep a 2 year old quiet, we received two rolls with spicy tuna in it, neither of which I could eat. I honestly think the two different rolls we had ordered actually were the same thing, but I am not sure because I didn't have a chance to try either. Problem 4: My husband ordered a beer and I asked for water. He got his beer, but my water never came the entire meal. Other tables got water. Were they out of glasses? Problem 5: I wanted to get my toddler icecream so I could finish my meal. I asked if they had any and what flavors, and again, our confused and rude waiter told me that they only had mochi icecream, not really offering me a choice or a chance to order anything. I felt at that point we were obviously not welcome at this establishment, This experience was awful. Food wasn't anything to rave about either. I came here with my best friend, I would see it every time i'm in uptown, So we decided why not have dinner there. Lets just say the Place is nice clean and very Trendy. especially for young adults. The server of ours was okay, kind of slow. The sushi Roll i Ordered was the Dragon roll which is soft shell Crab. I also ordered some yellow tail. My best friend ordered the Las vVegas Roll which was deep fried in Tampura batter. The SUSHI RICE WAS horrible, they didn't let it set at all, it was super soft and falling apart when i would dip it into my soy sauce and wasabi. (I mite as well just Ask for a spoon to eat rice and seaweed) #smh Seriously I couldn't enjoy eating my slices as they fell apart when i held them with the chopsticks. Whittier is becoming quite the foodie town! And here are two things that really go together well....Vietnamese Pho and Japanese sushi! My husband, daughter and I are total pho lovers! Noodle soup with meat? What's not to love? And, when I read about this place, I knew we had to try this out. So, we went for lunch. They have a fantastic lunch menu! You can get a bowl of pho (add a buck for seafood) and choose between California roll, Vietnamese spring roll, crunch roll or fried roll for eight bucks. It comes with a small green salad with a very tasty sesame soy dressing. Plus, you can order from a list of their fancier rolls for eight bucks for one roll (eight pieces). My daughter had an apple boba and it was pretty good, not too sweet. The sushi rolls were quite good! We had the Firecracker roll (crab, scallops inside, spicy tuna outside) and it was very good. The California roll was good, not too much mayo. The Crunch roll was very good. And the pho was tasty and very filling. The best part is that I get to support my beloved home town of Whittier. Whittier is a beautiful city and Uptown has a great charm and history. I love dining in Uptown because it's such a lovely little village atmosphere. So, come to Whittier and have some pho! read more

Like everyone says..This IS a pho restaurant, although they were a bit skimpy on the sprouts and mint leaves (which was cilantro) Their pho in my opinion can compete with any pho restaurant in Westminster or garden grove. The large order seems typical but they loaded the hell out of it with noodles. A pleasant surprise. The sushi is good,a step above mall sushi but the rice was a bit crunchy. Very nice flavors all around and ample comfortable seating. Interesting playlist by the way..Start to finish I heard K - pop then J - pop then Celine dion, Freddie mercury, and finally Spanish Christmas carols. There were 11 of us in our party. When we arrived, on a Friday night, there was not anyone waiting, and they took us in. We were still waiting on 3, but they said they could seat us. They tried to sit us on 2 adjoining four-tops. Not going to happen. So, we asked if we could get the third table behind us to accommodate everyone comfortably. The owner's wife told us no. She said we would have to sit separately. Now, had she said it would violate the fire code, we would have been fine with this. But her reason was, "I cannot give you more table because then where will my customer sit when they come in?" WHAT?! You have customers ready to sit and eat and you don't want to accommodate us because you MAY have people that come in? It was at that point we walked out and went to Gu Thai a few doors down. We wanted pho, but we settled for Thai because they were accommodating. When such a large party exits, it is extremely noticeable. Apparently the owner saw this and decided to come run after us to remedy the situation but we were already being seated at Gu Thai. read more

I used to go here a lot, I've been a customer since they first opened their doors. But within the past year this restaurant has diminished in quality and service. The prices go up probably twice a year, and don't even bother asking for a refill, because goodluck finding your server after you've received your expensive food. And the health department has been there several times. At one point they had a C! Then it went up to a B, and I still think to this day they have a B. But still, when a restaurant has a C, something is seriously unsanitary. Gross. Everyone has their own experiences, and like I said I've been there MANY times, I've seen their good and their bad. OK, if you don't know what the pho they're talking about then you should go pho yourself.... It's soup. Now, now, it's not just soup. It's a whole subset of a cuisine, and that's the point in going to a place like this. Pho & Roll (the "roll" is for sushi) might not serve pho and sushi as good as some places that are more specialized in those two kinds of food, but they do a better job than most, and getting them both in one shop is a nice twist. This is one of the places in Uptown Whittier that I'm surprised doesn't get more attention. It's real good. They put together a great pho and the sushi is right up there with stuff you'd find at other places. In fact, there are other restaurants in Uptown that don't serve sushi as good as the stuff at Pho & Roll. A couple of places Uptown compete with Pho & Roll when it comes to sushi (Bambooze and Azabu come to mind) that might do a better job, but that's all they do at those places. Other restaurants in the area that have sushi (Amachi and Maki Yaki) don't do as good a job. The sushi at Pho & Roll is a little foo-foo (that is, they put a lot of decorative touches on it) but it's good, fresh stuff, and plenty tasty. The place is as well maintained a restaurant as there is in the area. A lot of pride clearly goes into keeping the place nice and healthy. I wouldn't want to have surgery there, but I'd probably opt for that rather than the BBQ place next door.... The staff are very pleasant and downright respectful. At least, I really appreciate their taking the order efficiently, coming back unobtrusively and simply being attentive. These guys get it. So, recommend this. read more
