I love pho and I love sushi. Put them together and I think we've found a match made in heaven. But Pho and Roll couldn't quite perfect the pair. It's not the best pho and most definitely not the best sushi I've had, but the deals are pretty darn good! $9 for a bowl of pho and a crunch roll during lunch hours! This place is an awesome place to stop by if you're wanting a quick bowl of pho locally. They're located in uptown Whittier next to a T-Shirt store, you might pass it if you don't pay enough attention. Their rare steak pho is really delicious, they give you a good amount of meat and noodles, I always end up full before I can finish half the bowl. I haven't tried much of their menu but the basics: Pho, fried rice, and crispy egg rolls. All of which are items worth getting! Im only giving this place four stars because I feel like the quality in service has gone down. I've been coming here since they first opened and I don't feel the service is as great as it used to be. Not to mention I walked in one night around 9:20 (I believe they closed at 10 that day) and I was told the back of the restaurant is closed and there's seating available up front. So I walk up front with my friend I was with and went to sit down then was told by another employee that they're not taking anymore dine in guests and I'd have to order my food to go. Really? My friends and I came to this place to try it out. We were seated and ignored for a bit. Finally our order was taken and we waited over an hour for our food. We spoke up and had to tell the server what we ordered! If we didn't say anything who knows how long we would have waited. By the end of our sitting we had been there for just over 2 hours. Have been ordering out from here for a long time and decided to finally dine in with my sisters and got pho, they provided no pho spoons, no chop sticks, and little napkins. Unfortunately they never came back to our table to check in and when we asked for the basic utensils they never came back! My main problem was with the lady who picked up our checks, she was an older lady and she was NOT our waiter she insisted on us tipping which we were going to in cash! But she was arguing with us and not letting us leave unless we circled a tip on the receipt and even told us if we didn't she would do it for us once we left!!! I would check your bank statements after dining in at this place. When I confronted her about how we were going to tip in cash and with her rudeness she shouldn't even get a tip because honestly this was the first time she even came to our table?! SUPER clean and well lit restaurant! Service was timely and accurate-they always gave us what we ordered in less than 15 minutes. I dined here on a couple of dates both with my bf and friends. The menu is varies well in price range and each serving meets up to what is charged. They offer a ton of noodles for the phu as well as some cool drinks. Mochilattos (Mochies with gelato ice cream inside) were offered as desserts, uncommon in many restaurants! Then again I am OBSESSED with mochilatos. Parking may be a challenge but its definitely possible after 10 minutes of searching especially during rush hours. However the entrance is really easy to spot from driving or walking distance. Side Note: sometimes the jazz band from next door will be playing pretty loud so you may receive some nice sounds dubbing the sounds of the televisions inside the restaurant haha! read more

Nice, quaint place in the middle of whittier. I ordered a flank steak pho and my friend ordered the lunch special (chicken pho and an 8piece crunch roll). The broth for pho was fantastic, but the noodles were a little soft. Also, it didn't come with basil, but cilantro was given instead. The crunch roll was also okay, but it kind of resembled something from the super market. Knowing that this place is far from an Asian neighborhood, the restaurant probably adjusted their menu to their customers. Very good concept and reasonable pricing to boot. I had the Pho and egg roll combo and added a Cucumber Roll. None of the items dazzled me and the Pho is on the small side - although for like $7 w/ two eggrolls I can't really whine too much. The Pho was a bit bland for my taste, but I'm actually Vietnamese so I think I grade a bit harsher than most. I'm by no means a sushi expert but I think the sushi is more of the standout versus the Vietnamese offerings. It's worth trying just for the nice atmosphere and abundance of offerings. read more

They have the worst customer service now. i Miss JUNE! He was the best and always made sure all customers felt welcomed and were satisfied. Went here yesterday for the first time in 2-3 years, and while the ambience, cleanliness, and quick time prior to receiving my order was still superb, the quality of the meat in my pho (specifically rare steak and brisket) was not as good. I went for lunch and ordered the lunch combo: pho w/ 8 pc. crunch roll ($9.99), and the sushi and pho broth/noodles were tasty. The broth was not greasy, and the noodles were plump but not overly cooked. Overall, this place is great for a quick pho or sushi fix! They have other types of Asian dishes that I'll have to try next time. The sushi roll names are also quite creative and quirky. I loved it! Walked past it a million times frequenting uptown and tried it on a slow monday. The pho broth was perfect- the bowl and portions were huge for the price, we couldn't finish it between my bf and I. Also, the beef bibimbap was delicious and service was fast. This is a great place if you're looking for a quick bite. I love the pho & roll special, 10.99 for a small pho and 4 piece roll. However, The wall between the booth and what I believe was refreshment area needs a deep cleaning. There was food splatter, dirt and who knows what else covering the wall. The waiter we had was very pushy and a bit rude. Which is not surprising considering all the other reviews on here commenting on Customer service. I have been coming here for years and have never left a review so thought it was about time I did. The pho is amazing, always tasty, I always order the house combo. Broth is delicious and the meat is amazing. Love the fact they serve sushi and they excel in that area as well. They have a lot of different options and all very good dishes. Food: They specialize in pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) & sushi. I've only tried the pho so far, and it's decent. Not great, but for being the only one in uptown Whittier, you take what you can get. They really skimp on the extras that come with it traditionally though, (basil leaves & bean sprouts), giving you only 2 leaves as opposed to the usual bushels that have 15-20 leaves. They do bring free miso soup and salad with your meal, which is a plus. Environment: Going for the hip & trendy late night urban feel. Bright, modern (some seats are just ottomans with no back), with loud pop music. Fun, but not comfortable. Service: A little poor. They did try really hard though. Forgot to bring a bowl of miso soup and a glass of water, had to ask a second time for both. They were open only 3 days with a new staff, so probably need some time to get used to. Price: Pretty decent. I got a really big portion that I couldn't finish. Will probably go back to try the sushi sometime. read more

The food is great. But make sure you get there no later than 9 pm cause they wont serve you at the restaurant eventhough they close at 10. Today was the 4th time my business got turned down because i arrived at 930 pm on the dot. Pho & Roll would have scored 5/5 stars if not for the lack of chili paste and mint leaves for the pho. They do, however, provide cilantro which is a nice surprise as its a rare occasion that I come into a pho place that does. What solidified the three star rating was the charge for four crispy eggrolls. To explain, when I initially ordered the pho with rare steak and tendon, I didn't order it as part of a lunch combo which includes two crispy eggrolls. The offense came when I decided to order two crispy egg rolls and was told that they do not sell them in orders of two. I had to buy four and my order couldn't be changed to get the combo price. My family and I used to love this place. We eat here twice week because the soup is very good and it is close to us. Today's experience was very disappointing. My kids and I walked in and the waitress was kind. She asked us to sit anywhere we wanted. I've had a migraine all day so we started to sit at a corner booth furthest from everyone. The booth had a small table next to it. The kids and i moved it back to its original spot (less than 2 feet away) and Immediately, a waiter moved us away and waved us towards the center of the restaurant. He said that booth was for 6 people only. I would have no problem if this were the ONLY place they could accommodate 6 people but there were 4 other tables less than 4 feet away that can easily fit more than 6. It was incredibly uncomfortable for the kids and myself since the people at 3 of the tables were staring as we walked away. The rest of the staff is amazing. Our waitress is the best and the bus boys are very attentive and helpful. Sad that one person made it so bad for us. We will be looking for a new comfort spot now. read more
