Needed something warm and easy to eat, so this became a destination one afternoon. I had been to one of their other locations with mixed results. This location seemed to be similar with its ups and downs. First off, the restroom needed a good clean, especially the toilet. Secondly, I always ask for my tai on the side and extra hot broth to cook it. My broth came out normal temperature so my tai barely cooked. Taste wise everything was fine. The broth was nice and clean tasting. The herbs and sprouts were nice and fresh, and the pork egg rolls were super yummy and seasoned well. Service was a bit lackluster despite it being very slow. I used to eat here all the time, but it has really gone downhill. The other day our waiter brought out my meal about 30 mins before my husband's, so I was already finished before he started eating. We still waited for our appetizer 20 mins after we had both finished eating. When we asked about it, the two waiters said "well we aren't charging you for it so..." they didn't even bother to apologize. While we were eating the waiters all sat down at the table next to us and laughed and carried on eating their lunches and talking while both of us needed refills on water. My wife and I used to eat here often. However, we have noticed over the last year or so that the food has gone downhill. We just ordered our last meal from this restaurant. It has gotten to be so flavorless that it is almost inedible. I understand there is new ownership. It appears they are pinching pennies at the expense of their output. Today we had "grilled beef" and vermicelli and Tofu and Vermicelli. They were flavorless. Back in the day, the beef would have a nice marinated and charred flavor. Today it was just flavorless and grey. There used to be a saying that goes something like: "You can make a pizza so cheap that no one will want to eat it." I will just leave this by saying this seems like some really inexpensive "pizza". The Pho An (2?) on 1st Street in Humble is still owned by the original people I believe. And the grilled meat rice plate that comes with soup spring roll & fried spring roll ...I ate the soup first .....aaaaammaaazzinngg it's pretty much just pho broth with scallions onions and cilantro but very tasty . Then I ate the spring rolls cool ...they're pretty basic but the sauce is delicious .....so about my plate ...just overall bad idea :( grilled beef was so bland and tasted like old grease and I'm not even sure if they gave me beef or pork . The fried spring roll was bland . I only got a spoonful of fish sauce so I'm not sure how good or bad it was poured is in my rice and meat and it was gone. If you can't even serve hot soup, you really need to re-examine the fundamentals of why you're in this line of business. Hot soup is such a simple concept. Execution is effortless. Ummm this started as a great place to go get a healthy lunch option HOWEVER today changed that. Noticed my Vietnamese iced coffee was darker than usual (I make them at home and been ordering them from years all over). I asked if they put the condensed milk in. The answer was yes. Asked for a little cream before I left because it does the trick to. I should've known by the way the man smelled it I should have left it there but I need coffee. Do the iced coffee swirl and now I'm seeing white flakes rise to the top.... Get in the car and leave because SURELY they didn't give me old milk in my drink. Didn't even make it out the lot before I realize something is definitely wrong with the milk. Go back and politely ask for a refund. Told the guy the milk he put in is bad. He goes and gets it to show me that it's not...THE EXPIRATION DATE SAID 3-1-2023!!!! ITS APRIL 21st!!!! I could have been VERY SICK. It's the lack of attention and concern for other health. Not even the half consumed drink they had on the Oreo counter back there. Check the dates and stop being cheap with your paying customers. There are other options. read more
