Disappointing Ordered the large grilled pork with vermicelli. Only a very few, very small, very thin, very barely flavored pieces of meat with this dish. This large bowl was almost all plain noodles with very little added in. It wasn't awful but it's wasn't very flavorful at all. I inquired with the staff about why it was pretty much just a big bowl of plain noodles. They were unconcerned and dismissive. I'm not into being a confrontational Karen type customer so if they don't care - neither do I - I just won't return. Easy enough. There are better choices in the area. Skip this place. read more

First time here and wasnt greeted at all. We grabbed a seat and was given menus. The waiter was stand offish maybe because of the language barrier not sure but it was a lil awkward being that she stood about 3 feet away to take our order. I'd give 3.5 stars for their pho but considering that the location being far away from where most Viet and other Asians live, I went ahead and bumped em to 4 stars. Their soup was pretty decent so far when compared to other places around Houston. Their noodles are pretty decent too. I was happy that their dac biet included tripe. I've been to some places that don't which is sad. I will definitely be coming back to have pho here and to try other dishes. My one big request would be to please also serve ngo gai with their pho. I've eaten here several times and never been disappointed, so I'm bumping my review to 4 stars. Despite being in old Humble and looking older on the outside, this place has updated on the inside. It's clean and the staff are on the ball, even if they are not overtly friendly. In fact, this place may have the cleanest bathroom in old Humble. We like the eggrolls, which were wonderful and freshly fried up, #21 Bun with grilled pork and eggroll, and #9 Pho with meatballs, also I like the pho with the tenderloin nicely rare and soooo tender. Nom All were tasty and plentiful. Hub very much enjoyed his pho. The bun had lots of pork and the noodles were not rubbery, which I have had happen to me before. I ordered my standard chargrilled pork vermicelli bowl with eggroll and was very pleasantly surprised. The egg roll was tasty, crispy, and well portioned. There was a ton of chargrilled meat which was tender, flavorful, and not dry at all! The noodles were perfect and came with a bunch of veggies underneath. Service was polite and food came out quick. You've to got try this place. This in my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant. It is a good size, very clean and super friendly staff. You'll hit the trifecta with this place. So its a win-win-win!!! I had the Bo luc lac... I have no idea if I spelled that right. My Vietnamese isn't up to par... or should I say it's nonexistent. In English it translates to yummy chunks of beef cooked perfectly that comes with a bowl of salt and pepper that you squeeze lime in for dipping. The plate also included white rice and some grilled veggies. It was wonderful. My hubby had the chicken Pho which he allowed me to try and it was very good as well. We also had an order of spring rolls... not my favorite, but my husband said that they were the best that he had ever had. We will be back... Oh Pho An...what would I do without you! This is the most authentic pho place in the Humble area and one of the best on the northside of Houston. I have been coming here more than 8 years. If I'm not here at least twice a week; I go through withdrawals. My favorite is the pho dac viet which is the combination pho that has all the meat. I am a HUGE pho fan and have ate it in several states and Pho An makes the best pho dac viet. The broth is so delicious and so authentic. What I like about pho an is that they give you A LOT of meat, which most places do not. The spring/summer rolls are delicious as well. I have tried the rice and vermicelli dishes and they taste great as well! Service: it's an authentic Vietnamese restaurant ran by Vietnamese people...there is no service. If I could give a 0, I would. I had high hopes for this place because we just moved to town. We were greeted and seated rather quickly. Our orders were taken with questions for clarification and then everything just went wrong. Everyone else who came after us was served their food. Despite being extremely aware the specifications I asked for were not complicated - I gave this place the benefit of doubt. No follow up and you cannot get the man's attention for help. The plates we were asked a million questions about never arrived. It was simply forgotten. The best part about waiting forever for your food while watching others who came after you finish their meal is the lack of an apology. There was not an ounce of remorse or offer some kind of compensation for the lack of service. The food that managed to arrive was average and not worth the wait and the suffering of having to endure their lack of service. I will never go back to this restaurant again. read more

My hubby and I love pho and like venturing to new places. We decided here after wanting to come here for a while. First off, the customer service is non existent. Everyone looks at you like you're a nuisance. I'm not the only one that's noticed. Check out other reviews. Second, the pho. The broth was barely hot, so the noodles stuck together. Houston doesn't have its shortage of pho restaurants. Unfortunately, Kingwood does. That's what makes Pho An such a welcome sight in a sea of chain restaurants. A huge bowl of pho will set you back $6.50 ($6.25 for the small). With a deal like that you can't afford NOT to go. The menu also serves up an assortment of noodle and rice dishes. My dining companion ordered a vermicelli rice dish with shrimp and beef, and he inhaled it before I could ask how it was. Guess it was that good. Overall, the pho was exactly what you'd expect. The broth was perfectly seasoned, it had a good amount of meat in it, and it was served with all the usual accouterments. We also ordered some fresh spring rolls, but the shrimp in the spring roll tasted slightly off. Not sure if this was a one-time thing, but I'll definitely try them again, just to make sure. Eggrolls and a small #9 (beef ball Pho) are just that excellent. I have actually tried the chicken pho and the rare tenderloin pho and they also are excellent. Honestly, my homemade broth is better (I use PF Chang's recipe...used to work there), but that is not really a negative reflection on their broth because my broth is amazing. Theirs is merely excellent. This restaurant has become my default lunch setting and if they had WiFi I'd probably spend a lot more time here (I think I'm going to start dinging all restaurants without WiFi a star from here on out...JOIN US IN THE 21st CENTURY GUYS!). There are a few things I wish they had for garnishment... can you say fried garlic anyone? I guess Vietnamese must be "en vogue" in the Humble/Kingwood area. All of the sudden the area had no Pho joints and now three have sprang to life in the past few months. Pho An is unassuming, if I am not mistaken this used to be an old Dairy Queen, they have done a lot to erase the Dairy Queen look from the restaurant. The spring rolls were average, but not bad. The pho was good however. You wouldn't think you could screw up noodle soup but I have seen places do it. I would recommend Pho An, now we just have to see if all the new Pho restaurants can survive one another. read more

I had a pho craving and went on the hunt for some places around Kingwood that might be able to satiate it. This reminds me of my favorite pho place up in Arlington, in both environment and food. Vietnamese restaurants typically have more cool, detached servers so that wasn't a turn off, it just added to the atmosphere for me, I guess? I like their Pho, its good and their egg rolls. They have booths on the entrance and further inside are only tables. It's kept clean, however, the restaurant could use an update on the decorations as well as their booths. We've eaten there since it opened, and it is our favorite Pho place in Houston. My (Asian) wife says it is the best Pho and the only Pho broth that really hits the spot. I was really excited about trying this place according to the Yelp reviews it seemed like a great place for lunch. When we arrived we weren't greeted or seated instead the waitress had a really bad attitude, and rolled her eyes a lot. We had to find our own menus and seat ourselves. When she finally came to take our order with more attitude and more eye rolling. We requested no white onions in our soups, but when our meals came they were full of onions. Also our soups wasn't hot just barely warm, and our waitress never came to check on us. Very disappointing we will not be returning!!! read more

As I'm sitting in my office in Greenspoint, I am reminded every Wednesday that the cafe in our building has pho day. The smell is one that you can almost taste the broth in your mouth. Then you get down there and you can see that they make pho as good as a baker trying to cook a kobe beef steak. It ain't happening. As for Pho An, this is a gem that we stumbled upon in the recent months. I honestly did not want to write a review, as I am worried that everyone will want to come here and partake in the weekly ritual my boss and I indulge over gossip. No matter if the order is in the restaurant or to-go, the recipe is the same. Consistency is key to good pho. One extra dash of this or that will make you run for the door. Not here, it's always the same broth, same meat, same everything. For someone with Food OCD, like me, it's truly great to see a little shop like this be so on top of it. For the food, this is based on the #2. It's awesome. The broth is one that cannot be replicated, believe me, I've tried at least 3 times. The meat is so fresh. Whether your order is to-go or sit down, you always get a hefty helping of sprouts, basil and veggies. If you are a newcomer to the area or to Pho, try this place out. You will not be disappointed. Don't expect to get fast-food service (i.e. food to your table within 5 minutes), a speedy waiter or waitress. The place is usually packed and a line waiting to eat. Believe me, patience is well worth the wait. You do have to remind them, though, to refill your tea or water... but to wait for the food, it's well worth it. And believe me, I've torn restaurants to shreds for crap service... and for me, it's not the service that I want at Pho An, it's the FOOD! OH, before I forget. If you are getting a to-go order, they charge you an extra 50¢ for each order. It's to offset the cost of all the plastic containers and utensils (all recyclable) they use for the to-go order.
