I'm surprised that I've never written a review for Vnwich...pretty nice place...the food is always good...no matter what I get...from the grilled shrimp sandwich...to the fried cream puff...the food is always fresh and delicious...the service is amazing...maybe because I come here often and the people know my face...but they're very nice...the inside of the restaurant is a little old...but they keep it clean...the only knock i have...and it's no fault of the restaurant...is the parking...because they're working on the street in front of the strip center...the parking is a mess...but I park in the movie parking lot...and I just walk over...I will highly recommend this restaurant to anyone out there...see you soon read more

I come to this place pretty often and has become my top lunch spot while coming to the office. My co workers family knows the owners as well. The place is nice, plenty of condiments on the tables. Self serve drinks/water and utensils. The menu above where you order doesn't include the banh mi so be sure to ask. I've had the chicken and pork banh mis from here before and they were decent but the highlight of my lunch recently was the meatball banh mi. They were plentiful juicy and packed with flavor. The bread was super fresh, light and airy with the perfect non-roof of mouth-tearing crisp when you bite down. The banh mis took awhile to come to the table but it was worth the wait! The food is great, my wife had the meatball banh mi and she said it was wonderful. I had the chicken pho, the flavor of the broth was really good, the chicken was a bit dry but overall I'd say it was a 10/10. I will definitely be returning! This place is good if you're getting food TO-GO, which I always did prior to today. My food was always ready when I arrived. Why the 2 stars? Well today I had more time and decided to dine in. If you can get past the ridiculous construction (not their fault), MUCH patience is needed. I walked into a line with one older lady taking an order, and two older ladies at the cashier. I waited awhile, noticed this order seemed to be taking quite some time for some reason, but I continued to wait. Then I noticed the lady in front of me seemed quite frustrated. She said she has been in this line for 20 minutes and on her lunch break - ridiculous. We both continued to wait, and then the lady behind me started getting frustrated as she said she too was on her lunch break. I suggested maybe the young girl at the other cashier could take her order, so she asked her. The young cashier's response was that she can only take phone orders. Excuse me? By that time I looked around and noticed the line was now at the door. What kind of sense does that make? So when the phone's not ringing she'll just stand there and look at hungry customers? Finally someone else came to assist, by this time I was in the line over 10 minutes. I asked if I could get the shrimp with fried rice but have the shrimp grilled, and she asked the older lady if that could be done. Of course she was quickly given a "no." Why I'm not surprised? Here's the thing, they offer grilled shrimp as a side item, and a shrimp fried rice dish - so why was this not possible? I still requested the added grilled shrimp. Next I went to order an avocado and mango smoothie, but the cashier was having an issue putting the order in. She asked the older lady again for assistance and was rudely told "we're not doing smoothies today." You're kidding me right? A place that has a variety of drinks on the menu INCLUDING smoothies and teas (why I chose this spot for lunch) and no smoothies for today - no signage, nothing. At that point I just walked out. Why would I pay for such an inconvenience and rudeness, and really just a lack of common sense. I suggest you save yourself the time and money as well. read more

Soooo I'm always down for a good Pho or Bah mi... well this time i took 3 of my fellow classmates. We order and are sitting at the table waiting for our to- go. 1 classmate leaves to go to the restroom, when she comes back she takes a seat again at the table.. Starting our conversation up again.... to my HORROR .. a large Roach is running up her arm at a speed of lightning! Before we could even scream completely it was on her face! I did everything but flip the entire table over. My other classmate knocks it off her and it runs across the floor up under the refrigerated showcase... I'm in total shock!! I asked for certain condiments and the lady said unless you ordered egg rolls I can't give you sweet and sour sauce smh. My meal actually came with it but it came late. This was the closest Pho place to my house, so we thought we'd give it a try. They have a combo special with an egg roll and a bowl of pho. The egg rolls were so small that we thought they came 2 per order. In reality we both received one little egg roll each. The combination bowl only had 2meat balls cut into 4 to make it look like a lot and a couple lean brisket pieces. I usually get a lot more in my combination bowl in other places. I would've understood if they told me that they didn't have all the ingredients of a usual combination. My kids chicken pho had a lot more noodles and chicken than both me and my husband's combined. Ive never finished my pho this fast at any other place, so I thought id sit here and write my review while waiting for my kids to finish eating their noodles. I paid $50 at this place when I usually pay $30 somewhere else for a lot more food. It would've been nice to fill my belly for $50. By the way we had to pay before we got our food and paid a $12 tip. I asked for chili oil and when they brought it, there was barely any in the little 1oz cup they gave me where in other places they give a lot more chili oil. We noticed the cooks keep coming out of the kitchen because it's pretty slow. They have a lot of staff standing around doing nothing, but the floors are so dirty. There is rice all over the floor. Maybe They wait for the end of the day to clean everything up at once? I'm not the type to complain, but this was the worst experience at a Vietnamese restaurant that I've ever experienced. Sandwiches are very good. Comparable with what you may get in China town. Spring rolls have a touch too much vermicelli but that's typical in many places just ask for it to be less if it's not your thing Egg rolls are darn good. The service is what you'd expect. Asians are never good at this (sorry to break it to you all!!) so don't expect Michelin star dining. However, they are cordial and quick so it wasn't a bad experience. Other reviewers I think have a chip on their shoulder and are looking to be offended for what it's worth. Enjoy!! read more

Bahn mi combo sammich. I got the grilled beef with a fried egg. The combo comes with a small drink and your choice of egg roll or spring roll. I enjoyed my meal but will say that the meat is fairly thin and you dont get too much. The meat is nicely seasoned and the egg roll was also full of flavor. It took me several long drives to learn they close on Mondays and Tuesdays but I have came on a Friday once and they were also closed. The restaurant itself is set up almost like a cafeteria style where even the silverware and drinks are self-service. Perhaps this was due to COVID-19 but I could be mistaken. In my opinion, this setup is primitive. We ordered the combination BBQ rice platter and the seafood soup with egg noodles. Simply put, neither dish was remotely good. The egg noodles were halfway cooked, still quite stiff, and bland in both color and flavor. The "seafood" was as fake as Donnie's presidency. The fish balls were almost styrofoam-like in both taste, texture and appearance. The crab, well, it was the fake imitation crab that Kroger sushi uses. The broth was also bland. I found myself having to add drops of fish sauce multiple times throughout the meal. Moving on. The combination BBQ rice platter was equally as unimpressive. There was supposed to be beef, chicken, and shrimp along with some vegetables. This was more of an all beef platter than a combination as we were given three tiny pieces of chicken and one, I repeat, ONE shrimp. The entire plate looked blackened and obviously because it was not cooked in a BBQ fashion but rather it was cooked on a giant plancha top. The white rice was dry. Whether they didn't put enough water in when they cooked the rice or if it was old rice I could not tell, but nevertheless it was dry and awful. Usually Vietnamese BBQ platters are served with a special type of fish sauce as well. This was not the case as we were given none. Lastly, the customer service is nonexistent. There are no waiters, just cleaners. So when the card reader prompted me to leave a tip, I questioned where or who that tip actually went to. VN'Wich is very much catered toward the non-Vietnamese crowd and it was obvious as my girlfriend and I were the only Vietnamese people there aside from some employees. They are located on a busy street and are one of the only Vietnamese restaurants in the Kingwood/Porter area. For these two reason alone, they are able to serve subpar food successfully. VN'Wich is lucky that they have no competition in the Kingwood/Porter area. I guess we will continue to drive out to Bellaire to get our Vietnamese food fix. read more
