Owner is nice and service is fast. Empty little spot with about 5 tables and not the most clean. Seafood and classic broths were quite bland, meat okay, bean sprouts not fresh. A small hole-in-the-wall type shop that serves an array of different Vietnamese noodle and rice dishes. There is minimal seating and no a/c, but that's ok since the front door is open, allowing for lots of ventilation. They have plastic partitions up separating the tables and less seating available as per covid regulations. I got the bun nem nuong cha goi (vermicelli with grilled ground pork with spring roll) since it was too hot for any soups when I was there. The nem nuong was different than the nem nuong I'm used to eating - it was more crumbly and had minched lemongrass in it. It tasted like a fusion of nem nuong and cha, but still good although different. It came with a hot beef broth as an accompaniment. My bf and our friend both got the pho. I tasted the broth and thought it was okay, not the best I've had but not the worst either. If you're craving pho, it hits the spot just fine. They have a jackfruit milkshake that piqued our interest that we'll get next time. We like the convenient location since it's so close to our friend's house but it's not a place I would go out of my way for. Parking is available on the street. read more

Businesses come and go along Lonsdale with alarming rapidity, but this particular location seems to be especially hard to make a go in, because this is the third business to make the attempt since I moved here. I'm hoping that it's going to be more successful than the others, because, well, I'm the kind of guy who likes to eat a different country's cuisine every meal, and, while Lonsdale has a nice selection of cuisines to choose from, one of the cuisines which has been missing up to now is Vietnamese. Mostly, as you might guess from the name, this place specialises in pho, Viet Nam's rice noodle soup. As it happens, I still haven't tried pho, because I always go for the barbecued dishes. In this case, I tried the lemongrass chicken and fried rolls, both of which were excellent. The couple running the place are very friendly, but their English is somewhat limited. I must go back sometime and try the pho, and also the very promising-looking desserts. When I tried it, they had only been open three days, and the machine to allow them to take plastic still hadn't been installed. ("Maybe tomorrow.") Based on the reviews, had expected better. Nice to have this one located on this side of Lonsdale, lots of natural light. Ordered the lemon grass chicken, which i found a bit dry, and average tasting. Not onion cooked green onions too, compared to Vina. Plenty of rice though, and salad. Ice coffee worth a repeat. Nice enough family biz that i'll give them another shot for their pho. compared to pad thai which i just ate earlier, this does seem expensive: $9 for the lemongrass. decent side street parking. read more

Thought we would try this out yesterday and was very disappointed. The place had two other tables, one couple and a family (with kids).. My bf and I heard some commotion at the families table, when I look over there was a mouse on the floor by the entrance. When the soup came I was so excited, so I dug in. As I was eating I noticed what I thought was something stringy only to find a long black hair in my soup - GROSS. When this was brought up to our server there was no apology. This is on lower londsdale which is accessible within walking distance once you get off the sea bus. I came here for a quick bite that had simple ingredients to comply with my dietary preferences that week. I had an egg and pork over rice. The prices were very reasonable. I got what I ordered and everything was well portioned from the meat, rice and the egg. This is a very small place with very limited seating, however, I made this a grab and go situation since I had to wait 15 minutes for the next sea bus which gave me plenty of time to eat at the station. The customer service was super friendly. Service was a tiny bit slow, however, I did time it as such as I went in to work with the boat departure. This is just a heads up to others who are catching a boat that this is not a fast food place, however, well worth the wait to give this place some attention. read more

Our family enjoyed our meal here. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal. We ordered the Bun and combo roll appetizer. I've not had bun with warm noodles before, all the pho places in the states serve it with cold noodles. But it was tasty. And the grilled meat was very good. Not bad, Lonsdale... Not bad. I came with pretty low expectations and was blown away. This review started out as a 4 but I figured I needed to adjust for expectations. The broth had a strong daikon flavour which I'm a fan of, and wasn't too oily. However, the beef balls tasted a bit off/artificial. The noodles were not clumpy, not soggy, and the texture of them were consistent throughout. I'll be back but won't be having beef balls. Decor inside was better than its outside; although a bit dated, the interior was generally pretty clean! Bonus points for taking credit/debit (or something machine related. Pho is ok, service sucks! We ordered take out; went to pick it up and asked for more plum sauce. The woman who helped us (who by the way can barely speak English) flat out refused to give us 2 small to-go containers. We even offered to pay for it! Still flat-out refused! We left thinking, "really? Did that just happen?" How dumb is that? If we had dined in, we could sit there and use all the plum/siracha sauce we wanted. My boyfriend and I go to this pho place when the one on second is closed... Although the pho here is pretty good flavor wise, it's expensive and you hardly get any meat in your soup. If you order extra beef it's a $17.00 bowl of pho and still not much soup. Today was the last day I will go there as I ordered two ice Vietnamese coffees to go. After waiting almost 15 minutes the lady appears with two tiny styrofoam cups of coffee (maybe 8 ounces not even!) for $9.00!!!!!!! I was already feeling completely ripped off but decided to write it off as a lesson to never return. After getting out of my car the bottom of the styrofoam cup split off spilling my coffee everywhere. What an annoying waste of my time and 9.00... A never again read more

When this place first opened up, the service was friendly and very welcoming. Now, the lady has no expression, does not reflil tea, and generally doesn't seem to care about customers. She is very unfriendly now - not mean, just plain unfriendly. It has been a very strange change in attitude. I used to love going there and wanted to support them. If you realize you are going into a regular Pho joint not Hawksworth I think you will be happy with what is offered here. The service isn't stellar and the food is just above average but, the prices and portions are spot on. Soup is very good. We come here at least once per week. Large Pho is good. Saw two young guys order extra noodles for theirs today, we may try this next time but lots of noodles in the soup as they serve it. Waitress is friendly and remembers our order.
